He's the only maker out there that quoted me on a Han Dao. I just wish I had the money to order it.

wow. Garrett's forge does great folded steel work.
A lot of forges and even custom makers; chinese, american, etc etc, tend to make pattern welded blades that look corny or unrefined. This, on the other hand, looks pretty subtle. It matches the west of the sword wonderfully.
In fact, I think I've been put onto Garrett's stuff because of this! I'm officially on the jin-shi bandwagon.

Personally the great thing about jin-shi.com is that Garrett knows a thing or two about Chinese swords. You could get Garrett to make you a jian that is more historically accurate than other swords manufacturer like Hanwei (with exception of cutting jian) or Huanuo (cheaper than Huanuo too!). Even for some reason you are not happy with its product, he has a great customer service to keep you happy.

lol, Darnit, Garrett. Well, you just convinced me what to be saving up for... Actually, if you don't mind me asking in a public place, how much would a basic jian from Jin Shi cost? I know all the production models are gone, but for a very basic semi-custom, would it be much more than the new Hanwei?

Well....it depends on a few things, but what I can say is that I'm not planning on losing to Hanwei. One could get a solid utilitarian semi-custom jian for about the same as what the Rodell cutting jian normally sells for if not less.
I've also got a few developments in the works that are quite exciting to say the very least. Keep an eye out for it this summer. I'll likely post here.

I should be getting a decent job this summer, so a Jin Shi jian is not out of the question. By the way, are you aware of the broken links on your website? You probably are, but I figure no hurt mentioning it just in case.

Garrett, what are you up to? ;D You're going to make it impossible for me to not buy another sword from you, aren't you? ?? Cool!

I would imagine anywhere that hasn't criminalized the jian.

Actually Garrett is in Canada, he gets his pieces made in China.

Liam is correct: Garrett is in Canada and the forge he works with is in China.
My Jin-Shi jian was shipped to me direct from the forge in China. I live in NW Montana, USA, so no worries there.

Mine is being shipped from Garrett, rather than his forge. I think he first receives the swords from his forge then does some final QC on all his products (now, atleast, he may not have done this when you ordered yours GS) before shipping them out to their final destination.

I got mine a while back, when he was first gearing up, so likely things have changed. Point is, he ships anywhere its legal.
