Just went and picked my Dojo Pro from the post office. I only found 2 flaws on the katana: 1) A crack on the saya(It was really annoying trying to get that picture, it's such a small crack that the light had to be just right for it to even show up) 2) A small scratch near the tip of the blade(I don't really think this would count as a reason to add it to the scratch and dent sale - it's barely noticeable) Overall I am very pleased with my purchase. I haven't been able to find any other flaw with it and hopefully no more will show up after I cut with it later this month.

That's a great deal for a minor defect. I'm picking mine up tonight and I hope I get as lucky as you did.

This would be amazing. Give me enough of a heads-up and I'd buy it the day it came out.

As an afterthought...anybody who gets an S&D (such as crisock) could you please let us know what blemishes you've found? Thanks a bundle. Once I receive my sword(Just got the shipping notification so probably sometime next week) I'll take pictures of any blemishes I find and post it in this thread. I'll see if I can get a quick cutting session in with it as well to see how it holds up.

I've already put my order in for a Dojo Pro #21. Anyone else pick anything up from the S&D sale yet?

I'll suggest Ronin Katana simply because I'm about to pick one up soon. From everything I've heard they have really durable blades which are worth the cost. They are also about to have their scratch and dent sale and you should be able to pick one up at a pretty good price.(I think last year they were ~50% off with only minor cosmetic damage)

I have some photos of the front of the guard I can post tomorrow.(Too tired to find them tonight)
I got mine a month or two ago and was initially very impressed with the sword as well. It handled really well and the first initial cuts were flawless, until it decided to snap in half within a week of owning it. The vibration of hitting a water bottle snapped it clean in half. Cold steel are sending me a replacement(should be here next week) but I thought I would let you know that they've had at least one defective sword from their initial batch so far.Hopefully you won't have the same experience! It is a beautiful sword otherwise.

I have to admit, that's the ONE Cold Steel sword I've been tempted by. Could you get us a weight and point of balance to compare to the online stats? These things tend to vary... I don't have a scale on hand but the point of balance is 4.5 inches from the hilt. I'm just getting ready to run out the door now so I don't have time to do a full comparison of the rest of the posted stats at the moment. I've included a couple more pictures of the basket as well as an in-hand picture from the back to show how much room is in the basket. I have fairly big hands and I have plenty of room to swing this sword around and not touch the sides. It is a very comfortable sword to hold and use. Attachments:

I just got the English Backsword today and it is gorgeous. The only complaint I have is that I will have to sharpen the false edge myself if I want it(Oh no....the horror....). The sword arrived in perfect condition with no rattling or anything loose that I have been able to find yet. This sword also handles like a dream! I brought it by my HEMA club today and it surprised everyone by just how well it handles and cuts. It is very light, nimble and a very authoritative cutter, probably one of the best one handed cutters I've ever used. If anyone is questioning whether or not it's worth the money I would definitely say yes. I snapped a couple of pictures quickly and I can supply more if anyone is interested.

I caved and bought the English Backsword today from Cold Steel's site. It actually shows a reduced price when you log in to purchase it! Once I get it I'll take some pictures and post it here with some initial impressions on it.

My favorite sword movie would have to be the entirety of the Lord of the Rings Triology(It's just one long movie right? )
