Welcome to the Ronin Katana Giveaway for the week of February 1 - 6, 2016!
Could your swords use some style? I know mine could. So for the month of February we will be giving away a silk sword bag every week. Now you can win some "going out clothes" for your favourite katana.
In order to participate, simply reply to this thread with an answer to the Contest Question and your name will be entered into the draw. On Saturday, February 6 the winner will be announced after their name is picked using a random number generator.
As mentioned above, the prize will be a Ronin Katana silk sword bag shipped for free to your home.
The Contest Question for this week is: What is your favourite fictional sword? A Heron-Mark blade? The Atlantean? Share it with us for a chance to win - show us a picture of it if you can!
"The most important thing for a soldier to have is not strength, but a fear of battle. When you fear battle, you are able to take up your sword for others who are also afraid. He who does not fear his own sword is not worthy to hold it… if you truly fear battle with all your heart, then as a soldier, you already have something irreplaceable." - Tōsen Kaname
"Always keep your mind as bright and clear as the vast sky, the great ocean, and the highest peak, empty of all thoughts. Always keep your body filled with light and heat. Fill yourself with the power of wisdom and enlightenment." -Morihei Ueshiba
The titular weapon from "The Sword of Welleran", an old short story by Lord Dunsany. It's all in the presentation, of course, but still... "What should a man do with the sword of Welleran?"
Read it! The story isn't long and is seriously worth the time. And, even though I've naturally never seen it and only ever read about it, the great curved sword of Welleran sticks in my mind like no other.
"There's no grays, only white that's got grubby. I'm surprised you don't know that. And sin, young man, is when you treat people like things. Including yourself. That's what sin is." — Terry Pratchett, Carpe Jugulum
christain: Damn,I'm hungry. Sadly, a bowl of Frosted Flakes ain't gonna cut it.

christain: Well...the gumbo is gone, but I have a grill full of charcoal and hickory chips and two huge sirloin steaks marinating in the fridge. They're gonna be good with a baked tater and a nice salad drenched in Ranch dressing. ...and a beer.

christain: The rice CAN be served on the SIDE. The rice is just a filler that poor folks used to fill their bellies. I'm poor, so...yeah.

RufusScorpius: Gumbo without rice is nothing more than soup. Prove me wrong..

Brother Nathaniel: I like gumbo, I just don't care too much for rice in soup type dishes. I would like gumbo more without the usual rice.

christain: Just cooked the best pot of Creole Gumbo EVER. Chicken, sausage, shrimp, plus all the veggies. Outside, over an open fire in a cast-iron pot...oh, hell yeah.

RufusScorpius: The shoulder surgery is fairly straightforward, it's the recovery that is a real horror show. Not looking forward to it, truth be told

christain: Sorry to hear you are still having medical troubles, Rufus. But, hey....you've got a strong wife and healthy girls. Let THEM do the paddling.

RufusScorpius: Sounds like a great deal of fun, which I won't be enjoying any time soon. I'll have my shoulder in a sling for 6 weeks at least, then therapy for 4 or 5 months after. Maybe early fall I can get out camping or someting.

christain: No need for a rope swing there. There's one spot where there's a deep pool of crystal-clear water with a cliff to jump off. Little fish nibble your toes while you swim. It's literally like another world. Wonderful.

seth: Sounds great Christain. We used to do that when stationed in Florida. We'd canoe in the maze of the blackwater river--always find rope swings and such people had set up.

Ouroboros: Porch damnit.

christain: I plan on me and the wife going boating on the river at Beavers Bend, Oklahoma. You can float your cooler behind you and pull up on a sand bar and camp out. Great fun.
