For some reason, Cold Steel hasn't updated their website with their 2016 items (at least, not that I've seen), but I happened to stumble across what appears to be their new stuff in the pre-order section over at Knife Center: www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_store.html?waVENDORPRCOSTdatarq=New2016&brand=154&min_price=0&max_price=500&country=&design=&steel=&c=&locktype=&style=&min_blade=0&max_blade=50It seems they're branching out a bit with the addition of two historically styled maces to their MAA collection and significantly expanding their variety of training weapons with the inclusion of a parrying dagger, medieval dagger, rondel, kukri, and even a spearhead; amusingly, they even appear to be coming out with a polypropylene cricket bat, of all things. Shame the name isn't a pun on Shaun of the Dead, but I suppose we can't have everything.

Oh, I like that Polish mace!
Their training rondel is already fairly popular with the HEMA groups, at least out here on the west coast. We used them in the mixed weapon tournament at our annual charity event here at the Phoenix Society a couple weeks ago.

It's a stupid name, but the "Chaos Stiletto" is a cool trench knife and a great zombie apoc weapon

Training saber looks interesting. It looks a lot like the hutton saber by hanwei...

The training sabre looks uncannily like the Hanwei Hutton, and looks to suffer the same well-known shortfalls: shortish blade, insufficient curvature, and tiny grips.
I suspect that CS did the old trick of buying other manufacturer's stuff, making slight changes, and flipping the improved product. That being said, I like the provision of a scabbard though, and they seem to have beefed up the flimsy Hanwei guard.

I'm excited. The new steel-hilted tomahawks look like naval boarding axes. Just what I needed for my practice of the pirate martial arts!
Looks like there may be a single-handed messer. Hope it's not overly heavy.

Where'd you see a single-handed messer, Michael? I could go for a good short messer, but the Albion is way out of my price range and the Darksword one just does nothing for me.

Bladeforums and the cold steel forum both have threads with 2016 product listings from some distributor. There's a few swords and other things that aren't at knife center. No pictures... There appears to be a rapier, sword cane, waki, scimitar, and a couple new maa swords.

Knowing Cold Steel, if they couldn't brag about their weapons being able to split 12 armadillo corpses in one swing, they wouldn't even bother. They make some cool stuff and there's definitely a place for what they do, but I just wish the emphasis was more on handling, and not the aforementioned armadillo carnage.
So that being said, I don't really have high hopes. Although I've still got a few of their products on my list.

Thanks; found the thread pretty quickly. Looking at the list, I'm finding my curiosity piqued by the cinquedea, golden eye spear, tanto machete (will it be like their recent tac-katana machete or like their original "katana" machete?), their new MAA stuff, and this Quick-Draw Sword Cane, if only because I haven't a clue how that's supposed to work. Does it just mean it's got a really short blade or some kinda spring-loaded contraption that shoots out of your ass? 'Cause that's about the only way I can think of it working. Also, the tactical rondel, since I'm curious how it'll differ from a regular rondel aside from a flat black coating and still be a rondel.

My guess is that a button sends the cane shaft flying and leaves you with a sword in hand.

Cold Steel has finally added their 2016 lineup to their website, so we now have pictures to go along with that list from BladeForums: www.coldsteel.com/category/19_1/2016_Products.aspxI'm really digging the MAA Messer and, if the listed weight is correct, it ought to be fairly nice at just under 2lbs; same goes for the MAA Arming Sword, surprisingly, as well as the matching dagger. I really didn't expect to like those. The Cinquedea doesn't really look like what I hoped it would and the proportions in the image, to me, don't match the listed lengths, but on the other hand, I'm practically drooling over the English Back Sword. The Tactical Rondel is, surprisingly, still a rondel and not that much different from their regular Rondel; it's simpler in design and a little shorter, but that's about it. The Tanto Machete is basically the Bowie Machete with a tanto tip, which is a bit disappointing, but I'm not sure why I expected anything else. There's no sign of the Golden Eye Spear, though you can find the Quick Draw Sword Cane by typing the name into Cold Steel's search box. That said, it's pretty disappointing, for me at least, as it's just a long stiletto on a tiny pistol grip held in place by a friction seal; in other words, pretty much the same thing that keeps a katana in its sheath. I guess the only thing that makes it a "quick draw" is that you don't have to unscrew it or press a button to release a catch.

I'm also very excited about the messer. It looks very menacing and the weight seems promising. That being said, I think CS listed the wrong specs for quite a few of the new items. A 19 oz German longsword?? A 28 inch blade on the Cinquedea??

What if the golden eye spear is actually a spear point knife? There is a golden eye tanto listed as well... That would suck. I want a spear.

They've fixed the typo on the cinquedea; it now lists a 14" blade, 20" overall. Still no fix on the longsword, however, but I feel they may have meant to type 49.2oz (just over 3lbs), which seems about right for a longsword of that size, blade profile, and hilt style (the guard looks to have at least one side ring).
That would be annoying, if it turned out that way, 'cause I also want a spear. I mean, they've come out with several attractive European style spears, so why not a few Eastern styles? Even one would be nice. Though, on that note, the Seagal Wakizashi is really calling my name, since it's basically a naginata blade cut down to serve as a wakizashi, something I've been contemplating for a couple years now (even designed my own some time back).

The wakizashi is cool. Hmm... I thought the Finn hawk would be a tomahawk, so I'm guessing no spear as well.

Whoa... They're really stepping up their game, it seems. I'm interested in the Polish sabre, the Sword of War, Arming Sword, and German Longsword.

From what little you can see of it, the Mortuary sword looks interesting.

I was hoping to see a plastic / polymer version of a Scottish Targe shield in their new lineup........ Perhaps next year (I have emailed them in the past a few times with this suggestion) I'm a big fan of their polymer buckler.
