I personally like the brushed look almost as well, so I likely won't do it unless I get another H/T bastard.... which... LG Martial arts is still selling that Jimbo Curry custom, isn't he? *sigh* No. Gotta put down cash for the Malatesta. Still available... willing to sell it for $375. Layaway (for up to 2 months) is also an option. You or anyone else can contact me at support@lgmartialarts.com

I make swords and scabbards, might be able to make a set for under 800 depending on what you want. I'm also in the Central Texas area. My portfolio: www.diamante-swords.com/L Driggers (fallen) heat treats my blades so absolutely everything is handmade here in Texas and Oklahoma. You might also consider ordering a set of fittings from LG Martial Arts for one of us to make a blade for. They're cast in China I believe but they're good quality and the blade will still be done by an American maker. Would save you a little money too. Hope this helps! Thanks for the tag tdiamante - you can find LemuelTheLemur’s The Printed Armoury’s European line of sword fittings here: www.lgmartialarts.com/fittings/

Welcome to the forum - I'm from DEEEP S. Texas (McAllen, in the RGV) Hey, good to know! I work in McAllen, Pharr, Brownsville every few months. Was just down there enjoying the new Rabble Rouser brewery during a site visit; love what they're doing with Valley citrus... I also don’t have a physical store, but if you’re in the area and I’m not busy, we could meet up. You can find my online store by searching for LG Martial Arts

While I would never open carry a sword in public, the new law does have some merits to it, including being able to carry my iaito, bokken, or shinken to my dojo without people freaking out about my carrying a sword in public, at least theoretically. In previous years, I've had people look at me strangely when taking out my katana in the dojo parking lot if I didn't have it in my sword bag. Hopefully, this will alleviate some of those concerns. Also, I can now carry a Bowie knife, a large fixed blade knife, or a dagger, something that was illegal before Sept. 1. Are there any drawbacks to this new law? Sure there are... and I'm sure fellow forumites and fellow Texans will chime in about both pros and cons.

I've used their bokken before, very well made. I also have an Aikido "set" from Seidokai (http://sdksupplies.netfirms.com/cat_stdweapons.htm#Weapon), also great quality, but the Kingfisher ones are a bit better imho. Just remember that if you have a superior bokken, bokuto, or jo, you need to be careful NOT to hit your dojo mate's "weapons" too hard or you will break them with yours.

Very good question Bill... Europe is a largely untapped market to the US (at least imho, especially with customs and semi-customs) that could become a viable exporter of items IF they can source enough swords like the Chinese do... otherwise, it'll be countries like India/Pakistan/Philippines (or other "minor" Asian/Pacific [and I don't mean that in a disparaging way, just economically speaking]) countries that will take up the slack because they can produce lots of stock in a short amount of time, although they would definitely have to step up their forging and heat treatment to retain a large market share. Just my .02 worth
