I hope those scheduled to get their cv-shots and those still waiting have an experience
similar to mine ...
First off, got the pfizer, yesterday. Left arm at the shot-sight was sore, and was sore
this morning. I took a couple ibuprofen before working out today -- a hard work out,
too. And the arm feels pretty good as of this writing ...
The school I work at hosted a vaccine clinic with Rite Aid. I was scheduled for 3 PM. A
series of emails told me what to bring paper work wise, and to arrive 20 min early. If
you know me -- and I know ALL of you don't B-) -- but if you did, you know I'll arrive
early to the early ...
Got there about 2:30ish and there was little waiting. Things appeared to me to be super
organized. People directed me where to park. A person took my temp before I even got
close to checking in. Handed over paper work, got my vaccine card. Persons directed me
to the next point, then persons directed me to the next point, etc ... Got my shot, went
to a waiting area for 20 min in case I dropped dead all of a sudden, then left ...
I checked the time on my phone as I drove away, it was 3:05 ... Other than the sore
left arm ? I haven't felt any other side affects ... but then I'm 64 and there isn't a day
that goes by that something doesn't ache ... B-)
I go for the 2nd shot on May 8th, instructions and info about the pfizer vaccine suggests
some suffer more of a reaction to the 2nd shot, so we'll see ...
I will add this ...
I've been super-cautious since the virus broke out. My life-style is pretty simple as a
semi-retired, single old fart. I feel pretty " safe " at home and doing what I have done
day in day out. And while I only work 2 days / week -- as a zamboni driver janitor, and
custodian -- I deal with spit, sweat, blood, vomit, piss, semprini, assorted stews of food and
spilled beer on a regular basis that convinced me IF I got this thing ? it would be from
work. Sure, we shut down a couple times, but right now Michigan is undergoing a surge
and I don't see the powers-that-be opting to shut down again.
While receiving my 1st shot isn't the end of this for me, it does make me feel like I've
given my body more of a chance to FIGHT this thing than just, as I've thought over this
past year, dodging it and hoping the odds didn't catch up to me ...
Yep, I feel a small sense of relief.
