Funny that you say that because aesthetically, Liu Ye Dao (Qing Dao ?) are actually one of my favorite style. Too bad I was too much into katanas before...never bought one and my wife will totally kill me if she sees another sword/knife coming. (As I am waiting for my Elgur Swordmakery 2 orders from a year and half ago, yes, I am totally dead now. )

I'm not sure if it's synonym with Qing Dao (Manchurian saber) though they do look very similar. I think the willow-leaf might tend to be a bit longer and slimmer in the profile and a bit lighter so it orients more towards civilian context rather than being more of a military saber as the Manchurian. And a year and a half waiting time? Wow, they must be quite popular. I looked up ElGur and they do make beautiful swords, so no wonder =D

Copy & paste from Holger on FB: "My sword ordered from Purna is here; after a little more than two weeks. Amazing fast processing and delivery, and evn more amazing work. Specifications ae spot on as i ordered them! The blade has heft and presence, though you almost dont feel any weight; balance is very good. It has a considerable yet not overacting distal taper (what i personally dont like), just about right. The blade geometry is awesome too; it features a light hollow grind from the spine to where the edge grind begins; saves quite some weight, the sword is spot on 1260 g. The razor sharp edge itself shows no secondary bevels. This thing is literally twitching, jerking in the hands and asks for WORK! Minor flaws: the screw-on pommel was loose when delivered; no big deal, the wooden grip scales are double pinned to the full tang and wrapped in leather, so some epoxy did the job. Some small pitting in the handsculpted and handcast brass parts, overall a lot of little glue residues peeking through the grip wrap. I STRONGLY recommend the man!"

That scabbard looks so fitting for that sword. It all just flows together naturally. Makes me want to get a similar kind of design one day
I wonder if he does monthly payments 😂

Because the pommel is not actually securing anything (Because it is double pinned anyway) you might be able to just loctite the threads and it will not come loose again anytime soon. The pommel got epoxied right away! 😎

I have to say the sword looks beautiful and wicked at the same time. Nice photography! Is the grip for two-handed usage?

The pommel got epoxied right away! 😎 Awesome! Would we possibly be able to get a photo of the distal taper? Like a spine view? It looks like he really did a good job with that important detail. If that is your bidding, my brother nathaniel... by the way, we see on Zombie Tools swords that you can get along with a good grinding job, without the infamous distal taper. But one has to admit that this thing here handles much more lightly, even for me, one handed is possible. Holger would be devastating with such a quite light, well balanced and relative compact, effective blade... and his mass behind it!

That is some FINE distal tapering! 👍 Yes, as i said: he nailed it 99%; looking at the blade concept he nailed it 100% with the hollow grind and the taper.

That's an absolutely awesome distal taper ! Congrats ! Nice photography, soul! The inlays have clean and crisp lines. I didn’t know the blade is this long, it would the blade alone is as long as your entire viking-era sword.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone ! The blade was indeed unexpectedly massive ! (almost as long the viking sword and almost twice as wide as a katana blade)

That is astonishing. "What's this? A ranger caught off his guard?" "You will suffer me."
