And the an...tic_____ipation increases! One of those bo-hi blades is mine. But which one? I was number 3-5 on the ordering, but I don't know if they are issuing the blades based on that or not. In any event, I will be over the moon to have any of them! Ordered mine a few hours after you posted getting one yourself, also with bo-hi, so yeah.
Anticipation.

So myself, Raylon, Dandelion and nddave are getting one- that makes 4 of the 15 going to SGB members. Anybody else?
I'm tempted to email them and ask which number I got, but thinking more on it I want to be surprised when I open the box. It's like getting a Christmas gift from a favorite uncle- you have no idea what's in the box, but you know it's gonna be nice!

No confirmation number for me as of yet, but I guess that is to be expected given shipping availability outside of the US, will just have to be patient.
Edit: Its not even for me but as a gift for our martial artist son. [shifty eyes] Now from time to time I'm telling myself if I get one of the very nice hamon blade, maybe I'll just keep it for myself and order something else for his BD... [/shifty eyes]

I like their tracking system. My sword is now on an airplane heading across the ocean. So far, so good. I might get it by the end of next week.

Yep, I did not get one of these Anniversary katana, but had a different order put in early May. Same shipping and delivery date of August 18. And I really like this tracking system, too. Much more in-depth than anything I've seen from the big shippers here in the US. I'm in the midwest, but my katana is going over the Atlantic to NYC. Lol I work in the shipping industry, so I know the trip is often roundabout. Still, this is such a great distance, i found it kind of funny.

Who can know these things? I ordered a shirt from Florida and it took 10 days to arrive. I ordered headlight adjuster gears for my Jag from Poland and they arrived 48 hours later. I ordered a pair of shoes from Michigan and they took 3 weeks, but the handgun I ordered from Ukraine came 3 days later packaged in a sandbag. I bought a musical instrument off Ebay and it arrived less than 24 hours after the auction closed.
I can't figure it.

I bought a musical instrument off Ebay and it arrived less than 24 hours after the auction closed. I can't figure it. A lot of it has to do with the company doing the majority of the carrying, and the fact that a larger and larger percentage of that carrying and shipping is being done by air. USPS used to have its own air fleet. However, it was older, smaller, phased out, and eventually sold entirely around 1999--2000. After that, all of their air shipping was contracted out to other carriers, mostly UPS and Fed Ex. UPS' headquarters is just outside of Atlanta. So, if you or a seller chooses to use UPS, most of the boxes will go to the hub outside of Atlanta first before being shipped out to its actual destination. Regardless of the distance from the destination. If you're in North Carolina, and you buy something from a company in NY, your box will go on a UPS plane in NY to Atlanta, and then to NC. Doesn't seem to make sense, but that's how it works. Fed Ex's hq is in Memphis. Same thing. You might live in northern Louisiana and sell something to a someone in Kansas. Instead of going direct to Kansas, your box is going to go to Memphis first, and then to Kansas. Kansas is closer, and it would seem to be more sensible to go directly there. But no direct Fed Ex flights from Louisiana to Kansas, so they direct it to the hq in Memphis, from which there are direct flights. Crazy, I know.

My sword better not get thrown around to 100 different locations. That would be a death of a thousand cuts watching the tracking unfold.

Funny that you used the phrase "thrown around," Rufus. Oh, if people only knew. I keep telling everyone, no matter who you use, get insurance. Just as an example, even if your box has to go on a really short trip from NYC to Newark, NJ, its going to get roughed up! That, along with all the roundabout long trips I mentioned in my previous post really makes me feel for the live animals that get mailed every day. So sad. I say a little prayer for them every time I see them each day. All I can say there is that if you are buying animals, be merciful, and buy locally! Anyway, back to swords. Get insurance, so it can be replaced.

Get insurance, so it can be replaced. When I was in the Army my office was in walking distance of Vanguard- the company that makes the bits and bobs for the uniforms. Logic said that I could just hop over there and pick up what we needed, but the Army had a much better idea. I would order the accouterments through the DGSC warehouse, the order would go to Indianapolis, then through Redstone Arsenal, to Ft. Hood who would then order the items from Vanguard. Vanguard would send my order to Ft. Hood, who would then send it to Redstone, who would then send it to Indianapolis, who would send it to the DGSC warehouse where I would make a 2 1/2 drive to go pick it up. That process took up to 3 or 4 months. The entire time the items were within walking distance of me. On the other end of the spectrum, I was working the railroad in Philly when at 2am we destroyed the transmission on one of our machines. We towed it back to the shop and started pulling it out right away. The supplier was in Chicago, and I called them as soon as they opened for the day. I asked the guy if he had an XYZ123 transmission- he said "yes, I have 2 in stock". I says "great, how fast can you get one to me?". To which he says "I can give you 48 hours shipping". To which I says "Nah, bruh. You heard my question, but you didn't understand it. I said ""how fast can you get me the transmission"" because I like need it right now, today." So he says "I got a truck leaving in 20 minutes, I can put the transmission on it and reroute him to you first". I says "do it, here is the P.O. number". We got the transmission at 5:30 that afternoon. For $12,500 shipping cost. And the machine was back on the job that same night. Like I said, shipping depends on the customer. I've had overnight packages delivered before 8am on Sundays. If you need it, there is a way to get it (for a price). But for the plebes, you take you chances with the gorillas working the logistic chain.

More I look at those pics on page 3 of this thread, and the brass furniture choices on the sinosword site, the more I wish I had ordered one. But have two other Jkoo's on order. BTW, Jkoo...unless I just lucked out with an exemption to the rule, sent me a T10 midare waki with perfect habaki fit. Looks like they took my suggestion, made the nakago slightly oversize and carefully hand filed it down. So good a fit, a custom made habaki could not have fitted better. Tsuka on or tsuka off, the fit of the habaki was just right. No play up/down or left/right. Solid, no movement, yet I could get the habaki off with just finger effort (no vise, no hammer etc).
I sent Jkoo a message complimenting the job. Hope it won't be the only time they do perfect habaki fit. I'd be ok with paying for the extra time and hand fitting involved. IMO, if Huawei can raise quality and raise prices to pay for the more hand work, so could Jkoo/Sino.
And yes, I sent off an email to Huawei asking about my katana order that I put in 3 or 4 months ago. I'll post when I hear back.
RinC
Hope the Jkoo/Sino $99 15th anniversary katanas turn out well!

Recently UPS delivered a package to my house. I was sitting just inside my front door. The driver must have been in a hurry because though the little gate near the front door only had a little hook to hold it shut, the driver did not try to open the gate. He tossed my parcel over the fence. It landed on the concrete by the front door. I called UPS local hq to ask if that was policy. They said drivers not supposed to do that.
