Haven’t had time with it. Will be taking a few days off next week so I might make a cutting video and write a review.

Quick update on the Castir's scabbard. This is how it looks like at the moment: I'm gonna ask Paul for pictures of the blade inside tbe scabbard and next to the scabbard. Now I can't wait for it to get here.

Oh, that's pretty!
Is the leather texture as prominent IRL or is it just an artifact of the photography? Because, if real, I think it makes a really attractive contrast for the smooth, shiny brass.

The photos aren't edited, so I'd guess that's the actual texture.
Maybe they sprayed varnish all over it? I have no idea how it's done.

I wasn't thinking about editing. Photographs lie inadvertently all the time - the lighting, the monocular perspective, the camera hardware, the camera settings, the image compression, all that (and a couple other things besides) can make things in a photo look very different from how they are IRL.
But real leather naturally comes with all sorts of textures. Goat skin is not like cow skin is not like donkey skin is not like ray skin, and even skin from different parts of the same animal can be quite different.

Well I wasn't the one taking those particular pictures. I'll be sure to upload my own photos once I do receive the sword. Until then, I can not say for certain what type of leather was used, how prominent the texture, its actual colors and whatnot.

Looks a little like rawhide fresh off a cow, when the striations are all still on and haven't been taken off yet.
I doubt that it's rawhide though. Would be a pain to work with for a scabbard like that.

Oh. My. Goodness. This is a glorious piece of steel. I thought it would look -good- after the shipping oil was cleaned off, but this looks amazing. Thank you for posting pics, and I can wait for the review. Love it.

It is now approximately 349 days since the Castir was first designed. And now the final product is finished. But not yet shipped. Images (sadly not high-res): Yes, that faint line near the edge is a hamon. It has double-side hamon. DOUBLE-SIDE! Inside the scabbard: Ahh, now I can't wait to finally receive the sword.

Jordan Williams Thanks! Now I wonder how a scimitar/sabre Castir would look like. I think I'm gonna doodle a possible design for it soon hahaha. It would look pretty badass, I must agree.

Castir...Sabre?? Version 1 with habaki: Version 2 without habaki: It's just a recycled hilt that didn't win the contest. I figured it looked Sabre-ish enough to be used. I actually want this now.

This looks too bad*** for words. I like the original a lot, but this just looks too cool. With habaki it looks like a royal weapon passed down through generations. The pics of the finished castir look awesome as well. Look forward to hearing what you think of it.

Hmmmmmm me likey. This only makes me want to cannibalize a sabre or spadroon for the hilt even more now.
