That would be 'King' - Djinn did the custom work, unless I'm mistaken on a Ronin RK. I was skeptical when I first heard about it till I saw the end result, looks great.

Comparison. The Danu Sword is quite a bit heavier, but it lacks fullers That katana-hybrid thing looks awesome! Talk about stealing the show! I saw the posts above about it and I actually think it's pretty cool. I'm a sucker for a complex hilt. 😀

I've somehow never seen that other sword. Very interesting, sure makes the basket hilt katana I have seem a little less interesting...
That Danu looks a lot bigger than I'd thought.

Faldarin: That is correct. Was a fun build too. Glad you think it turned out good. Sometimes I still consider doing an oxblood leather wrap instead of a tsukamaki
dchisenh: Its my baby. Was a birthday gift I was encouraged to customize
Random: Wait... You have a basket hilt Katana? I never heard of this before. But agreed, the Danu is huge. Much bigger than I expected, much to my welcomed surprise

Picked it to from Aaron justice years ago, along with a re-wrapped Dynasty Forge Musha:

How does it handle? Looks amazing though

Oddly. Basket is pretty heavy, blade is very light. So a lot of mass in the hand, but hard to really track the blade...

Would you describe it as nimble? Or is it overall too heavy

Mostly I'd call it awkward. It wants to be nimble, but there's so much weight in that basket, which itself is a bit small for my hand, anyway.

... Now that is some next level thinking there, MOK
Random: Sounds kinda dead in the hands. A little blade presence seems to make a sword lively imo

Djinn---Quote from Sith Lord Darth Vader: "Impressive...Most impressive." Be sure to bring that along on our PA foraging run! You go first,---my blade's too short and I'm too damned old. (At least, that's what SHE said.)

Thanks Chris. I wanted to customize my other Katana with a cross guard too. I find it really eliminates the issues with a Katana, in a dueling scenario. It made sense with the DH blade too, as it can retain an edge better I imagine Truth be told, the leafblade would be crazy ideal for that kind of scenario. Even if it dulls, it can still split skulls

Here are some shots of the Aleutian Gladius. Here is a shot next to my customized VA Krieger for scale. 21" blade versus 31" blade. Notice how broad the gladius is. I did some test cutting with the gladius (No pics or video unfortunately.) So far just water bottles. It has a pretty beefy blade so it's hard to accelerate it for clean cuts against light targets like a water bottle BUT it thrusts as if there isn't even a bottle there. Also because the blade is so broad it can literally cut the bottle in half from a thrust. Pretty cool! The finger rings feel great and definitely help with edge alignment and point control. It is also interesting that the blade is only sharp on the "arrowhead". It really makes the sword feel like something unique and specialized.

Amazing pictures. I have the same issues too. It feels hard to accelerate in the cut but the thrusts are insanely powerful

The gladius is one of the few blades I would probably buy just to display. It's gorgeous. (Not saying I wouldn't attempt to do some serious testcutting with it.)

Did any of you people who received your winning sword make a review yet?
