Hey guys, I think it'll be better if you leave any comments regarding the Castir at its respective review page. That way, I don't have to shuffle between pages and boards just to collect feedback. Thank you. Why aren't the SBG Forum Member Designed Swords Selling? Isn't feedback what this thread is for?

Not to mention that the design group which Castir came from aren't even in production yet, so we have no idea how well they will sell.

They might appeal to a marginally larger crowd, due to scabbards and construction, but sometimes I worry that the sword market may have become too martial arts based, which may or may not affect the sales of some of them. But then again, people are paying stupid prices for some of the works of Forged in Fire smiths, so we they have hope

A truth is that this was a vanity project promoted mostly by the designers that were selected. While I checked in on the design and discussions from time to time, it seems to me the eagerness and interest in defending a new world with a story kind of got lost in current events. How come a designated project manager isn't more involved in promotion? Woe is, is if pre-orders occur and then are never produced. Not to be a complete stick in the mud but I wouldn't expect many orders and outright sales of completed stock, even considering a few pages of meager interest in this thread. TTT

The whole fantasy blade via BKS was a bit of a debacle. Pulling up the old design as a model effort and result just overlooks how sour the whole thing turned a year after promises were made, excuses overlooked. TTT

Edel - You assume too much....and when you assume too much you make a ...well you know the rest. Digest/newsletter subscriber direct marketing is one of the best methods to sell any product. If no sword sales to at least 15,000 sword loving subscribers, then they may have liked the designs, but not enough to buy. Therefore, existing designs need modification and or different designs are needed. If the 2009 "SBG Fantasy Sword Project" medieval fantasy sword designs are copyrighted by BKS, I am sure the current design competition includes other designs that could be considered if needed. 15,000 is a number. Not a currently read number. It is a total number of email addresses. How many actively following this discussion? How many typically even online reading this board in a given 24hr period? Of that number, actively posting? If you are my salesman, you are not selling me on your speculations. Adding more models hardly recoups any of the money already slated for current production. As mentioned in the original threads, perhaps, as expansion occurs. Read the threads, love the threads. Repeat and rinse. You are one making a lot of assumptions and I am indeed pointing them out. Carry on though. Users Online in the Last 24 Hours 9 Staff, 212 Members, 1,927 Guests. sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/board/91/fantasy-swords# (how many buyers responding?) 54 participants in this thread. That is speculatively a bit more than 25% of the current nominal active forum participants. Last I looked, a few minutes ago, there were less than a dozen registered members online. That's not to say there may not be 15,000 active emails. I have a handful of email accounts myself. I may even at one point have subscribed to the newsletter. I'm done TTT

"15,000 members is great" Again, a number of email accounts amassed over 12 years. The number hardly relates well to active viewers. That the swords will be attractive to the board at large is evident and I wish the endeavor well but at the same time, I am a realist and see lopsided logic in terms of "how come 15,000 email addys aren't resulting in sales" Then trying to add 6,000 to the 15,000 instead of some pretty simple subtractions and overall board (and Facebook) traffic. Rebuilding middle earth won't happen quickly enough but hopefully participation and interests beyond LOTR type fantasy swords will carry the day. I do own a modern fantasy sword but I have no interest in being part of the D&D and new world culture. All of this batch of swords from both sources deserve the recognition but honestly, SBG is a tiny little planet in and of itself. Once all on the maker's pages and expansion within this group, there are no doubt there will be at least a few sold. TTT
