Faldarin, I hope that Ronin keeps the specs as true to the original in the MET as possible. But you're right, I probably wouldn't mind two. I've been wanting to "darken up" a Type XVIII to make my own version of Turin Turambar's Gurthang. I thought about going with Windlass' Arbedo, but I like it too much to risk experimenting with it. I don't have two, and they're out of production. The Ronin might serve fine. Just need to get both it and the Albion, and hope the specs are wide!

I'll be the first one to root for Ronin doing something unexpected and cool. (They've surprised me in the past.) So it is very possible. I am more than pleased with my Euro #7. But now they've got me looking REALLY close at that double-fuller, and the XVIIIc monster on the side. Even if it's not 'Alexandria wide' - it's MUCH more wide than most 'wide' production blades.

The only reasons I'm not buying a #13 are that: 1. Already have a seven. 2. Really looking forward to the other two new blades! 3. Just sunk my sword budget in the Lone Star State.

In Texas, -in- Texas. OHHHHHH, gotcha. If I had enough 'eff you money' to 'buy Texas', I'd be hiring Sonny to make ALL the swords instead. (Edit: I know this is a Ronin thread! Sorry! I love the #7 and all the new stuff! Just put down too much money on something that's now in a different price class.)

Here is a Facebook photo of three (3) of Ronin Katana's prototype euro swords. Very Nice! Here is a pic of their new long sword with fuller. Very Nice! Oh these two on the left are beauties.... hmm. I may have to actually consider a Ronin euro... 😜

The exact sword Ronin based the Alexandria model off of is the one featured in this video.

The double fullered, fish tail pommeled longsword may be my first Ronin purchase. The prototype photos look pretty snazzy.

Hexagonal cross section with double fullers! What’s more, the fullers appear to be tapered as well which is no easy feat. They also terminate really nice and clean. The cross is a tad strange but over all it’s a must buy for me. Great job Ronin! This is how you earn business!

Tapered fullers occur naturally if they are cut prior to putting in the distal grind of the blade. Blank billet. Grind fullers. Bevel edge and put in distal. That order will yield naturally tapering fullers because you are removing the “rims” of the fullers as distal is ground

Good point! Well then that makes it an even better bet. If there is that much distal grind, then I’ll be a happy camper when this sword is available!

Islamic text on a historic English sword? Why would they do that? That would be like putting English text on a historic Japanese katana. Do not understand. Hey Blade Runner. Ronin Katana updated their Facebook page. It said that these swords, including the Alexandria, will be available in early March, and that you have the option of getting an Alexandria with or without the text. That's cool. No text for me. I definitely plan on making a March purchase!

Would the longsword with the wheel pommel be typed as a XIIa or XVIa? My novice skills are lacking. The shape of the blade and fittings speak to me
