Dchisenh: Thank you. I appreciate that. It is based off of the customization I did to a sword, and what others said could improve it, such as a leather wrap and a longer blade. I been considering seeing if I could get a pommel on mine and have been seriously considering a burgundy leather wrap on it, but I lack the skills for that.
Might be my favourite story for my sword designs as well, as it gives reason for the design.

THE SWORDS OF MIDORA Fantasy Backstory: On the islands of Midora, Dragons roam free. The islanders frequently incorporate dragon scales which have magical properties to strengthen their swords. Yet the history of Midorian steel is clouded in secret. These twin swords are the only artefacts of Midorian master craftsmanship, laboriously forged with the impending danger of dragon fire.
Specs: 23 inch blade, 29 inches overall
Notes: Patched leather grip, brass triangle feature leans with tips touching the middle of the blade
Newbie here, but and new to the sword community but these swords look like the kind that I would want to buy especially the curve on that second design. It reminds me of a kreigsmesser but definitely something to slay dragons with. Gonna post my own designs very soon!!!! Great work!!!

Found a bunch of my old sword drawings, most don't have names and none of them have stories. They are not to scale with one another and I am open to whatever interpretation regarding size, name, history, ect. if they were selected.

Thanks!
They were hand drawn on paper then scanned into my computer, and most importantly, edited with a paint program using the mirror effect to get it identical on both sides.

here is a sword that i have imagined using the Kamui X-1999 sword as a reference! <<-- this is what i used as reference The blade is a leaf blade wich can be a long sword or a short sword depending on how you feel would fit the feel better. Kamui's Shinken's guard on the original even though nice has been replicated by Chinese manufacturers to only be on 1 side of the sword making it feel somewhat of a shame when holding while it should be on both sides giving it a hand guard. My picture may be small but my fist guard is of an angel with wings that would wrap both sides with a regular hand guard being on the one side due to the head being on the other side! the sword itself has a fuller on both sides lightening the blade while also being engraved with: "השבח אתה, אדוני אלוהים, מלך היקום, אשר על כל דבר קם הדברים" wich translates to: "Praised are You, Lord God, King of the Universe, at whose Word all things come into being". the pommel will be the star of David and the handle would be made for 2 handed use while the fist guard comes to a little over half way and does not attach the handle could be either purple leather wrapped wood or bone and the coloring of the guard and pommel could be gold/brass coloring or bronze. might come up with more sword designs but here is one for now.. edit: the back story of this blade would be that it was made by god himself and given to his most loyal follower to protect his fallen kingdom from the onslaught of the demon hordes! and to bring peace back to earth. also im not that great with paint but it would be nice to have more of a curvature with the angel and a more proper fitting handle so there is room for your hands and so that the blade doesn't feel like it will break!!! especially at the guard!

Three more from me: Who watches the watchmen? The eternal question and for good reason; it's an important one. For without a guard against the overstepping of bounds, a watchman is little better than a tyrant, forever pushing their power further and further in the name of "safety". A better question, however, should be: What are they watching out for? The Watchmen do not simply guard against mundane banditry or even stand watch against the storm front that heralds an oncoming army bent on conquest. No, they ward against something far more sinister. They work tirelessly to protect us from plaguebeasts; foul, rabid monsters that take on seemingly ordinary forms, but are truly demons risen from the pit to eradicate humanity. It is with luck that the world is only porous enough to allow their rising in the fragmented Outlands that ring the grand continent of Evron. Each country, then, can guard its borders rather than trying to watch every inch of their territories, reducing the chance something can evade their gaze. While each nation equips its Watchmen as they see fit, the Yaswar Empire arms its Watchmen with an imposing tower shield capable of covering the wielder with from chin to calf and can be locked to another shield to provide greater stability; it is then paired with an arming sword with a long, broad blade and a narrow, reinforced point, making it capable of deep thrusts and gaping slashes. Many Yaswaran Watchmen feel this is insufficient and bring a long pike with them to supplement their armaments, but just as many find, as the days go by with only banal demands of their time, their pike gets too heavy to carry while their shields can be easily slung on the back for hours at a time with little discomfort. *Important Note* This design was originally posted in my first batch of entries with a different blade, but I removed it as I was dissatisfied with it. With that said, here are the specs: Members of the Snowtalon Bandit's Guild are, as a rule, a surprisingly professional group of cutthroats; rarely will they do more than intimidate a victim. A majority of the time, the double-edged sickle swords they take their name from will never even leave their sheaths and, when they do, it's to disable whatever guards their victim might have with them. Its unique shape and double-edged nature allows them to slip around shields and defensive postures with relative ease, allowing them to wound a guard enough to take the fight out of him. On the rare occasion they have to fight to kill, its shorter length can provide a disadvantage against the more common arming swords worn by professional guardsmen, but they are well skilled in using it to deflect and redirect any incoming blade. There are even tales, whispered among the guild members over candle light, of Three-Fingered Jack, a legendary bandit accredited with numerous seemingly impossible tales, not the least of which was his propensity for using his blade's ring pommel to catch blade tips, swinging them aside in the same motion as slash. Despite their initially brutish appearance, the "talons" are quite sophisticated in design, with brightly blued furniture to resist rust no matter the elements, a guard that seems to provide no protection while providing a significant deal to those skilled in its usage, a blade with a complex curve and rigid spine, and an almost delicately shaped grip, tapering at each end and swelling in the middle, fitting the hand of any who grasp it so well the weapon nearly becomes an extension of the arm. Even its scabbard is quite sophisticated, with a wide mouth to accommodate the blade reinforced with a thick iron band, matched by an iron chape to protect the blade's broad point. And the specs: Of all the elfin races on Aizith, none are more elusive than the wood elves. Living in the great Jihmunn Forest, they are nomadic peoples, herding the great elk that live sheltered beneath the forest's boughs. Despite this, they have a great number of blacksmiths with refined skills that let them create intricate, almost delicate, marvels. None more outstanding than their swordcraft. Honed and refined through long centuries of war with their low elfin cousins, who weren't much different than humans, the height of their sword design is represented in a blade that equally mixes cutting and thrusting, a thick ricasso for strength, a wide crosspiece to catch incoming blades, and single handed grip for use with a shield capped with a long, fishtail pommel for balance; such a pommel could also be used to fit a second hand on the hilt for greater cleaving strength. A perfectly preserved specimen, considered a typical design, can be viewed in the Royal Hall of Origins in Lagresh. It features a long, rigid blade seemingly untarnished by time that broadens towards the base before rapidly narrowing at the ricasso, finished by a short fuller roughly half the width of the ricasso. The grip is soft green leather over wood while the guard, of an unusual design featuring a loop around the blade near the base, and the pommel are of browned steel. Due to the lack of corrosion, the color is thought to be intentional. Its accompanying scabbard, thought to be the original, is covered in leather a different shade of green and features a browned steel chape with a spherical finial. And the specs:

Hello there, finally figured out how to color in Photoshop, quality may be lackluster though, still learning. This is my third submission. Any idea how to make images bigger? #3 Velklir the Witchblade Velklir once belonged to the tenth Emperor of Aleutia. It is a magic-sensitive weapon (otherwise known as rune weapons) meaning that the blade’s power and potency amplifies in the hands of a magic caster. Rune swords are relatively rare as magic casters usually capitalize on their ability to hit their enemies from afar using a barrage of spells rather than piling up in melee as magic skills and spells take very long to master and a magic caster would prefer to preserve his life –and his knowledge- by staying as far away from the enemy as possible. This is also the reason why the most common magic-sensitive weapons are staves, wands or even bows and crossbows.
Velklir was confimed to have been forged in the long lost sorcerer city of Notarikon, one of a few surviving artifacts of that city. It contains a Coronatite core, which is a relatively soft metal known to be a superconductor and amplifier for magic. To the eyes of a magic caster with [Aura Vision] spell, Coronatite appears to sustain a corona of magic energy around it, hence the name. Coronatite is also compatible with all types of magic, another one of its special properties that makes it so valuable. The metal’s special ability is also inherited by the blade. Hundreds of miniscule magic runes are hand-inscribed into the blade. These runes cannot be seen unless the blade is held in a certain angle (usually by reflecting light) and further help amplify any magical energy channeled into the blade.
The tenth Emperor of Aleutia was the current monarch when the Southeast Island Chain declared sovereignty and launched their rebellion. Four months into the war, Velklir disappeared from the imperial palace, having been stolen by rebel spies and smugglers for then unknown reasons.
Velklir was next seen in the hands of Akira Kosakami, who had thrown her lot with the rebels and helped turn the tide of the war. Aleutian intelligence later found out that she had demanded the sword in exchange for her services to the rebels. Rumors would later circulate that the sword and Akira is connected somehow. Many claim that both came from the city of Notarikon, and that she had at one point wielded the sword, lost it under uncertain circumstances, and is now reunited with the blade. Akira neither confirms nor denies these rumors.
After it was stolen, Velklir gained the moniker ‘Witchblade’ in no small part thanks to its new owner. In the hands of the Deathless Witch, Velklir could cleave through the gates of a fortress in a single blow, destroy combat golems with a single stab, and even change the course of the wind and the weather when pointed to the sky, all of which were feats witnessed during the rebellion.
Sadly, Velklir has been destroyed. After the rebellion, the Emperor of Aleutia called for a meeting with all the other imperialist nations in order to form a temporary alliance against a common enemy; Akira, in fear that she may unite the colonies and destroy the empires. The Silent Alliance, so it was called, gathered each nation’s strongest heroes, warriors, and mages and gave them the very best of equipment in order to kill or capture the Deathless Witch.
These heroes included sword-masters, dragon knights, magic-casters and even masters of a martial art school. They were to infiltrate Akira’s flying estate, the Temple Nimbus, which was entirely populated by golems and automatons allegedly built by her, break into her mansion, kill her and get out alive. Of the two dozen heroes sent, only six survived. The team’s leader, Mura, was missing, presumed dead. Fortunately, when four of the heroes dueled Akira at once they managed to successfully shatter the Velklir using forbidden magic spells and injured Akira’s left arm using an ancient Castir blade. In a gesture of sincere respect, Akira sent a dozen of the bodies back to their nations and any gear that could be used to identify each man, however, she kept their weapons and never returned them. Only Mura remained entirely missing and unaccounted for, no trace of the man except his sword remained.
Velklir’s blade cross-section looks something like a flared diamond (hollow-ground blade). This design, which was later copied by many mage-smiths and their swords, made the blade lighter and better balanced than any other blade of its era. Velklir’s central ridge line extends all the way to the tip, which allowed the blade to better thrust into the gaps of plate armor commonly used when it was forged and made the blade extremely durable. Though primarily a thrusting weapon, Velklir is still well suited for slashing, though many other blades could slash better than it. Its hilt is wrapped in brown leather. Velklir is 46 inches long, its blade is 33 inches long. The blade is 68 mm wide at its widest point just in front of the guard and tapers toward the tip. It weighs around 4lbs.
Length: 46 inches variable Blade length: 33 inches Blade width: 68 mm (widest) tapers toward the tip. The 'choke' behind the widest point is around 36-40 mm wide. Weight: 4 lbs variable Designer note: the uncolored circles at the pommel and the middle of the guard are not holes. The guard and the pommel are supposed to have engravings but I cannot draw them in photoshop (insufficient skill). The parts of the blade colored in black are not sharpened. It's like a ricasso used for half-swording.
semi uncolored picture: Thank you for reading, critiques and comments are welcome.

This "sword breaker" shortsword is part of a set, usable by the surface elves in my old D&D campaign (yes I was a DM before I became a licensed badass LOL j/k) anywho, the second sword....a long sword I have yet to draw.....was usable by the dark (subterranean) elves. It was prophecied that a half-elf (half surface elf, half dark elf) would rise up, wield both swords, and unite the two "blood enemies." ((Apologies for my godawful drawing.....you get the idea))

2 redesigns of earlier swords of mine the sword of the dark one : as he sat alone on his once great throne beneath the ruins of his once magnificent home his hand strayed to the sword he had kept with him from his days as a mere mortal sorcerer, his hands strayed along the blackened pommel to the spinal bones that made up the handle now, the wood having long since rotted, and caressed with seeming affection the silvered horns and skull plate that now made up the guard, he recalled with great joy the taking of this trophy from the lesser demon he bested to win his undying life, with great joy that day he carefully encased the bones and horns in silver so as to remind himself that power is only released to the one strong enough to take it by force, lost in his revelry he studied the long blade worn thinner from years of service and thousands of honings yet still strong and in his hands a deadly extension of his arms with a grim rattle he "laughed" and resumed his wait for more of the bearers of light to find him here in his dwelling for the bones on his handle were wearing and needed to be replaced soon ....... the lightbearer sword: made from the finest steel and silver that the church could afford the swords of the lightbearer, the warriors against the undead in all their forms, are a thing of beauty the cruciform handles serving to ward the wielder from the lesser undead, the "nail" shaped to resemble the stake the first lightbbearer used to combat the undead nailing them back into their tombs, the chopping blades short enough to be used in the claustrophobic spaces they were fortunate to venture into in defense of their fellow man whilst being able to deliver devastating blows to their enemys, the handles wrapped in leather bearing scriptures to defend them from the scourge of the undead truly a weapon one should aspire to be worthy of carrying

this is my dream sword thats been in my mind for awhile now Features 42" overall with a 32 " blade rigid blade for piercing armor bronze fittings with a dark patina flattened scent stopper pommel guard is 7 " and a half wide waisted grip covered with Earth green leather Backstory... An age ago the race of man ventured into the area which is now known as Stormwater. The lands there were rich and fertile from the many rivers that were fed from the glaciers and snowy peaks to the north. The crops they planted exploded with life like they had never seen before but little did they know that the land was a winter home of the giants. The giant-kin stood twice the height of the tallest of men and were quick to anger and when they returned were not welcoming to the new comers. Most often these disputes resulted in slaughter at the giants hand. Word of the giant attacks spread and it was agreed that the settlers would retreat and take refuge on the island within the loch to the south. For it was well known that giants did not like water and would not cross a body of water that their feet could not reach the bottom. The fact that the dense structure of their bodies did not allow for the abilty to swim or even keep themselves afloat made them suspicious of water. And so the men were safe on that island but it quickly became cramped and the food stores were dwindling. A group was sent north to negotiate with the giants for farm land and in return would aid the giants. At first the talks seemed to be pointless and the giants were becoming more and more hostile to the intruders. Then a giant named Krowg stepped forward and stood between the two races. He urged both sides to sit and listen to the other and there the seeds of peace were sown. Man and giant shared the lands and there grew a respect between them. The men taught the giant-kin agricultural knowledge and the giants returned this gift with the ways they knew as well as the game they hunted and oxen they were a shepherds too. Over the next years most giants would leave the land of stormwater and dwell beyond the west pass and there they built a town for their own kind and it was unanimously decided that Krowg would be their chief. He was respected on both sides ,even the nearby kings of men would seek his council. For four generations of men ,both races prospered and were at peace until the day that the king died. Now, among the giants they were those who preferred the old ways and those who felt it was wrong to turn away from their culture. And on the day of Krowgs death the talk of a revolt spread like fire. Wicked kings of other nearby realms heard of this and sought to use it use it to their advantage, promising the giants that they could have the whole of Stormwater to themselves again if they would ally with them to fight their enemies. The Giants agreed to this and allied to the fell men. And so began the war of giants. It was a short brutal war that nearly erased all of giant kind.Towns and villages of men were leveled ,and if any giant stood against the force their families were killed. Giant warfare under the command of the evil men was truly horrific. The smiths had forged great glaives and axes for them to weld in battle, blades that would cleave man and steed in half with a stroke. The followers of Krowg were not so grand in arms, many of them welded clubs and used atlatls to launch massive spears toward their enemies but they had the larger force and in time they would prove victorious. When it became clearer that the revolting giants could not win they abandoned the kings of men to flee far away. The war had ended and very few giant-kin returned to Stormwater. The majority of the followers of Krowg went to live in the south ,far away from where so much blood was spilled. Due to the decline of the giants force the northern mountains and forrest became more dangerous. The were-wolves and great ice serpents feared the giants but now since they were so few in number their fear began to wane and they began to creep ever southwards following the river lands into the village and farms. That was when the river-guard was formed, whose purpose it was to protect the territories from the wolves and serpents. They were a militia gathered from all the villages and towns in the realm, made up of farmers and craftsmen of all kinds. The ones who had knowledge of fighting and warfare taught the others. Axes were hafted and swords were forged. The first task was to build an outpost at the edge of the forrest which the were-wolves crept from. When the outpost was finished and fortified the guard then set to chop and burn down every tree within a certain radius of the fort so the ones on guard could watch the forrests edge from their towers and from then on the forrest was called " the moon woods",for they had created a large crescent shape on the forests edge. Fitting for those who dwelled there. The next task of the river guard was to protect the northern pass, this was the chief location of the ice serpents, a magical and ancient enemy that crawled into the green-lands on occasion and they were the utter most threat to the lands to the south. It was during this time, these early years of the river-guard that a sword came into their service. Some claim it was a gift from the gods.Other stories claimed that a smith of men forged it ,never the less this sword was said to be swift as hail fall and when it was swung in battle the blade crashed like thunder and flashed like the lightning of a summer storm. The wolves of the moon woods as well as the ice serpents came to fear it as much as they did the grand giants of old.Always passed down from the Chief of the River-guard to the next. The once bright bronze fittings have aged to a dark patina, the blade however is as sharp as the day it was born .When the sword passes to a new welder the words are spoken Born of ore. Raised in war. Lord of storms. In battle i sing. Swift death i bring. The serpents bane." To this day the serpents bane and the guard is all that protects the innocents from the dangers of the foul creatures beyond their border. Among those that are protected is the last family of giants left in the realm , simple farmers and herders of oxen that are said to be the direct bloodline to Krowg. i edited my backstory and added a map to my fantasy realm. its a lengthy read but it does tie into the sword lol

This sword is the Fang of Silverleaf. It is a hand and a half saber wielded by prince Valeriand of the fair city of Silverleaf, hidden deep in the enchanted forest of Taaria, born within an ancient, holy grove. Prince Valeriand was a noble, kind-hearted lad, given to laughter. He was known not only for the kindness in his heart, but also for his valor in battle and his skill with the elder magicks. The blade he carries was forged from the fang of Valinax, the marauding dragon that had threatened the nearby countryside. It was a long, arduous battle, but Valeriand was victorious at the cost of many lives. To honor the fallen, he cut two fangs from the dragon's mouth and forged two blades. His own blade, as well as another for a dear old friend. The Quill of Sylvanus. The magic produced from the fang imbued Valeriand with the traits of a dragon. His skin became nearly impervious, his body greatly grew in strength, and his eyes shone with a great fire. The people feared him ere that day and secretly plotted to do away with him and free themselves of the one they called tainted. In the night, a small team of villagers stole into the home of the warrior priest Sylvanus and slew his family in their sleep as he attended prayer at the temple. When he returned, he found his family slashed and burned. He knew only Valeriand could have produced such carnage, only by using the brother blade to his own. Sylvanus confronted Valeriand within the great hall of the palace. He brought forth his accusation and drew forth his Quill. Valeriand knew that, though innocent of this crime, he must also produce his Fang. The two close friends dueled with the power and ferocity of great beasts, filling the hall with thunderous footfall and ringing of blades. In an instant, Valeriand ran Sylvanus through clean. Within that very moment, the priest lashed out and cleaved deeply into Valeriand's chest. As they both fell to the ground, they hailed one another as brothers and wept at the misfortune that had befallen them. They passed away, but the brother swords were kept as powerful treasures to remind the people what their fear had done. The blade is 40 inches with sharpened false edge at the last third of the blade. The flat is filleted from the guard, up to the beginning of the false edge. The hilt is a ten inch long waisted grip, the primary grip being 3.5 inches in length. The grip is forest green leather with leaf and vine work on the waisted part of the grip. The knuckle bow guard and blossom pommel are both steel with a slightly darker patina than the blade steel.

Such excellent submissions guys - keep them coming..! To add to the momentum, here are a few more email submitted entries: Kapp
Inspiration for this one is fairly obvious, but this is my version, inspired by an iconic design. This is a warsword, 45 inches from tip to pommel, grip length seven inches with its 33 inch tapered fullered blade designed for cutting but capable of devastating thrusts. Descriptions of this blade survive in the records from the fallen Empire. The Scribe records its origins only as the 'Farlands', where it was displayed at court along with a sampling of gold and precious gems that indicated the riches waiting in those unconquered lands. The nobles urged war, greedy to claim that wealth from peoples that were derided as simple barbarians living in hide and wattle huts. But the Scribe urged caution, pointing out that the workmanship of the sword and the quality of its steel far exceeded what a simple primitive people could produce, indeed, it hinted at a capability matching or exceeding the Empire itself. The annuls record he was shouted down and ridiculed as coward. The annuls do not describe exactly where these 'Farlands' lay, but do detail the size of the invasion force that departed to conquer them. The annuls also record that the decline of fall of the Empire was greatly accelerated when of this massive expedition, not a single living soul returned. OzzyPhillipeI have for long looking for long for a fantasy sword that look heavy (the size of a 2 hands sword (40" !!) but with a much larger blade (not really easy to manipulate but we are still in a fantasy world)), with a "primal" look and inspired by my reading I came with the attached drawing (sorry I am not at all an expert in design) The idea was to have a black damas sword with dark brass furniture and red enamel runes... So I hope my small contribution will look interesting enough for you... even if is definitely inspired by existing fiction books... Teurma II The Traveler’s sword might not be as big or as powerful as other weapons, it makes up for its unintimidating stature with a fast, maneuverable blade perfect for handing from beneath a cloak or swung in a small space. Don’t let its short blade fool you, its blade is as sharp as any other, and you may find it has slipped past your guard before you even had a chance to parry. It’s short blade makes it prefect for a traveler or ranger, light enough to not weigh it’s owner down, but hefty enough to ward off the many dangers to be found on and off the path. While not purely a offensive weapon, it makes the perfect tool for self-defense and dissuading would-be robbers. Its origin is a mystery, as its steel seems sharper and stronger than the average sword, and strange runes adorn the pommel, guard and blade. Those who have held it have claimed to feel some sharpening of the senses and quickening of the mind; but what properties of the steel would cause such an effect are unknown. Total length: 28" Blade length: 23" Grip length: 5"
