Hello there, fourth submission here. Gonna try using imgur to make the image bigger. if it works i'm gonna edit my old posts to make their pictures bigger aswell. #4 Vangel “The world will never suffer the rule of a tyrant such as you, and you will never be able to destroy this world because people like me will always rise up and stop you.” “I had the same conversation with dozens of other ‘heroes’ and this has always been my reply; you are mistaken. I do not intend to rule, nor to destroy. I intend to live.” -Last recorded words of Ryotaro Mura, leader of the Silent Alliance raid team and Akira Kosakami’s response Forged from the surviving pieces of Velklir, comes Vangel, perhaps the most powerful magic-sensitive sword ever forged. Vangel retained the Coronatite core its predecessor had but the core itself is much larger and can channel incredible amounts of energy while the shape of the blade was enhanced in order to focus and amplify the magical energies channeled through the blade along the entire length of the cutting edge and the tip into truly terrifying forms. Some people have claimed that Vangel, in the hands of Akira, could split the seas apart, tear fortress walls asunder and bring down a castle tower with a single swing. Many people believe that Vangel is a single powerful blade, but the truth is that Vangel is actually two swords sharing the same name and almost the same abilities as one another. Unfortunately, both swords remain unused thanks to Akira’s injuries during the Silent Alliance raid, and as such, they had no titles attached to their name. The first sword is about the same length as Velklir but reforged as something similar to an arming sword instead of a cut-and-thrust sword like the original (though its handle length makes the sword most effective when used two-handed, it’s somewhat light enough to be used one-handed). The second, more powerful blade is a greatsword. The greatsword Vangel could level entire mountain ranges, but is almost never used at its full power because the damage it could cause is beyond even the abilities of magic to repair. Contrary to popular belief, Vangel was not forged in Temple Nimbus. It was forged in Escia, a former colonial nation and an enemy of the imperialist nations. Escia had worked together with Akira several times and allowed her to recover from her injuries in its borders. She had commissioned the swords from Escias best mage-smiths in order to replace her former favorite sword, Velklir. And also to have something to use after she had fully healed. Recent sightings of Akira within Escias’ border is considered a terrible omen for the Imperialist Nations, as the alliance that was supposed to stop the former colonies from uniting under Akira had instead caused it to happen. The arming sword Vangel is 45 inches long. It has a 33 inch long blade and a 12 inch long handle. It is 60 mm wide at its widest point. It weighs around 3 lbs. probably less. The handle is wrapped in leather. The pommel and fittings are made from titanium. (Designer’s note: the blade should be made from tool steel or spring steel instead of the 10XX series steel because of its size and width. My personal recommendation is 9260 spring steel.) Length: 45 inches. 33 inch blade length Handle length: 12 inch Width: 75 mm at widest point. Most of the blade is 47.5 mm wide Thickness: 6.0 mm to 3.8 mm Weight: approx 3lbs, probably less

blood-drinker Features 24" blade 36" over all bronze fittings backstory Long ago in the forgotten age where magic ruled the lands, both good and evil men practiced the arts. There were honorable mages that cast spells to protect and to help their fellow man. Then there were those who called upun the dark arts for power and other dark deeds as well as necromancers who raised the dead for their own gains. kingdoms rushed to gain powerful artifacts that were imbued with magic Deep within the jungles it was no different, the king called upon his craftsmen and shamans to discuss the forging of a great weapon that was embodied with power and spirit of their jaguar elder god. The preparations began at once ,enemies and intruders to the lands were taken and held captive until the summer solstice. On that night, one after another were sacrificed. Hearts were cut from their chest and thrown onto the hot coals then the blood from their bodies were drained into a stone trough and there the sword was quenched while the shamans recited their spells and enchantments. All the warriors were gathered at the temple and there they were tested until one was chosen to carry the sword into battle. In battle the welder seemed to be untouchable by arrow and spear , always glancing off or missing entirely. When he was within melee range none escaped the bite of blood- drinker

Hello there, this one's my fifth submission. It's a little absurd and kind of skirts Kit Rae-style fantasy territory but hopefully still usable as a sword and a tool of justice evil 'certain purposes'. #5 Vangel Greatsword Though the Greatsword Vangel remains unused in combat to this day, its great power was once tested in the deserts of Escia. A magic caster imbued the sword using several advanced pyromancy spells and the blade managed to turn several acres of desert into malformed glass. After the blade was tested, multiple identification runes were engraved into the blade’s handle in order to prevent anyone other than the Deathless Witch herself from using its terrible power. In the hands of anyone else, the Greatsword Vangel is merely a really big blade, though seemingly indestructible no matter what sort of weapon it parries. In the hands of the Witch, it becomes an unstoppable force of nature, capable of taking on formidable foes such as Dragon Lords and Primal Elementals with contemptuous ease. The Greatsword Vangel is 53 inches long. Its blade is 38 inches long and its handle is 12 inches long. The Greatsword retains its smaller twin’s blade width (47.5 mm) but is somewhat thicker. The handle is wrapped in wire mesh and the fittings are made of titanium like its smaller brother. (designer's note: I made several mistakes in the drawing above regarding the scale of the handle and many others. Rudimentary drawing skills hehe) Length: 53 inches, 38 inch blade Handle length: 12 inches Width: 80mm at widest point of blade. most of the blade is 47.5mm wide Thickness: 6.5mm to 3.8mm weight: approx 4lbs, probably slightly more

Fang of ArtemisThis is a Dark Elf assassin's sword. The blade is made from the body of the Obsidian Viper. Indigenous to the Underdark, it's body endlessly produces the paralytic venom that Dark Elves use to interrogate spies and political enemies. The venom is powerful enough to end a fight with a mere scratch. Edit: The actual viper IS the blade/hilt/pommel. Also the crossguard is an Ulna, not a femur.

"The black death" backstory.. Deep within the marshes an orphan girl was taken in by an order of magic welders and there she was taught and trained in the dark voodoo arts. After growing up and becoming a priestess , she finally felt it was time to leave. She had long wished to see more of the world and so one night when the moon was bright enough for her to find her way ,she left the order and fled in a small row boat to the coast. Soon the promise of piracy lured her into using her dark knowledge to gain a ship and crew. Wanted posters began to pop up in all the coastal settlements with her likeness, yet no one could capture her. Her sword was named " The black death" and was said to have possessed some dark soul or spirit ,even a small cut would result in a rotting black death unless it was countered by some other magic treatments. This was only the beginning of her tale. In the years that followed she would become known as the dreaded pirate queen of the southern seas. Features 25" blade, 31 over all darkened steel fittings ribcage and vertebrae guard skull pommel serrated back edge

The Forever Prince The legend of the Forever Prince has been told many times. This author has attempted through research of the Elder Tomes, to remove the myth from the true history. In the Kingdom of Elnarnan, the young King Arlen the 1st, meets, courts and subsequently marries a princess of Trinanin, Altuana. They were a hapy and popular couple, young attractive and mindful of their subjects. Three years into their marriage Altuana announced she was with child and the Kingdom rejoiced. A son Brion was born to Altuana and Arlen in the early winter of the year 1893 CC. Their happiness was shortlived as Altuana died a month later due to complications that not even the finest physicians could remedy. The Kingdom remained in mourning long after the normal timeframe, due to the popularity of Altuana and Arlen. It only ended after Brion began to walk. Brion was a sweet child adored by all the servants and citizens. Four more years went by before Arlen was convinced by his advisors that he needed to take a new bride to ensure the Royal line. At the time many children died before maturity so one son was not deemed suffiencent. After several months of meeting many eligible women, Arlen surprised everyone by chosing Leyliana a daughter of the Elvan Ambassador. The Elves were viewed with some suspicion at the time. Common thought was that the elves wanted to secretly control the monarchy so their marriage only fed the gossip. Their marriage proved fruitful and a year after their marriage another boy was born. The boy was named Luran and as he grew he gained a reputation for" snooping where he shouldn't be". Luran was exceptionally quiet when moving a common trait among the elven coupled with his inquisitve nature and the suspicion of the common castle folk, that reputation grew. Another shared elvan trait was exceptional hearing, the child could hear all those snid remarks and started to react to them. He'd prank anyone who insulted him which only fanned the flames of resentment higher. The more insults, the more pranks. On several occassions the King himself had to intervene. Luran and his brother Brion were very fond of each other. Luran admired his older brother as many younger siblings do and Brion loved his little brother and was known to be quite protective. As the brothers grew, they learned all many of skills a noble should know. They both excelled in swordsmanship, horsemanship, economics and were introduced to the political world. Brion could navigate the political circles as easily as he could their small sail boat. Luran had difficulty with politics as he never forgot a slight and took all comments especially those made in the heat of an arguement personally. Brion had commented on this to his brother on several occasions, who simply stated "I have no intention of ever being King so I will not swallow their insults". As they grew into manhood they met and married, two sisters actually, from a good noble family and they were all happy with the unions. Two years after Luran's marriage the King died of natural causes and Brion was coronated. Leyliana tired of the veiled insults on her elvan heritage and not wishing to add confusion by being a ex-queen returned to her homeland. The new Queen soon was with child and the realm was vastly disappointed when she delivered a girl. In the next ten years the Queen delivered two more girls and a miscarriage. The old resentments rose and people started to say it was an Elvan plot to take the throne. The Royal lineage ws passed down only from father to son in that age so the next in line to the throne ws Luran. As was his wont Luran never denied the rumors and even made some snide comments which just antagonizied the rumor mongers. Soon Anti-Elf factions decided to murder the Prince. After several near misses both Luran and Brion got together to combat these murder attempts. Luran's favorite weapon was the sabre. Sabres were the fashionable preferred sword of that time. Magical weapons were expensive and as you are probably aware an item can only bear one magical attribute. This is due to the fact the magic is personal and different magics will interfere with a second magic nullifying both. The King and Prince sought advise from the most reknowned Mage of the time, Varsiki. Varsiki worked for over a year before he came up with a secret solution. Enlisting the aid of the best dwarf swordsmith, Varsiki had the dwarf create the sword to the Prince's specification. The sword was created, the S guard, baskethilt, blade and pommel were all forged by the dwarf and a grip was fashioned by a local craftsman made from the same tree as Luran's father's casket. Each piece of the sword was imbued with separate magical properties that were able to work independently due to the secret process by Varsiki. The blade was imbued with incredible sharpness, the S guard was spelled to protect the user against all melee attacks. The Baskethilt was perforated with protection glyphs against missle weapons. The grip gave the user the ability to swing the sword all day without tiring. The pommel protected the user against magical attack. The sword was named Everguard and was always on or near the Prince. The years rolled by without Brion having a son. The longer it went on the more desparate the Anti-Elf factions became. Time and again assasins attempted to kill Luran. One of these attempts ended with the death of Luran's wife and this infuriated the Prince who had merely been reactive in the past. Now he sought out those who'd ever slighted him finding reasons to imprison them. He even challenged several to a dual, easily killing them. The brothers hoped this tact would discourge further attempts but he only fueled them. People who didn't care about the Princes' heritage now began to fear and despise him. Brion grew old, still having no son and eventually died. Luran " the Half Man" or "Bastard Prince" as he was called behind his back would normally have then been next in line for the throne except his marriage yielded no children. This was mostly the case with half breeds, that they would be infertile. The nobles used this excuse to steer the Kingship away from Luran and to a cousin. The line remain for several generations on that side of the family until another issue with lineage came up. Luran still appear to be in his prime and the Anti-Elf faction again worried that his right to rule would be backed by the populace. One night a young servant who had being working at the Palace for over a year, brought the Prince his dinner to his apartments. The food was laced with a nujmber of poisons and the unsuspecting Luran eat his fill. He died several hours later in great pain. When Luran's body was found Everguard was not with him. It is believed the sword was smuggled out of the Palace and it's whereabouts are unknown. So ends the tale of the Forever Prince. Overall Length 39" Blade Length 32.5" Weight 3lb 1oz

i believe that was the original idea, design the blades then make a world for the chosen weapons to "exist" in, would be one hell of a world one full of dark magic, knights, vikings, old world tribes, Romans and gallant priest knights, would be a heck of a job to spin it all into a coherent world but would love to see it done, the old rpger in me is hanging out for this new world to come to life

I too am really interested in creation of a world these blades exist in. I think multiple authors could take a country or continent and spin their take. A world map could be made with some input and then each author could choose an area. A few other considerations would have to be discussed but it is certainly possible.

Ok, here are two submissions from me. First up is a big two-hander called Grumnar. In the tongue of the northern realm, Grumnar (pronounced groom-nahr) means Guardian of the North. This massive sword was forged by the legendary smith Braedhir for the Jarl Skjollgaeg two hundred years ago. This magnificent weapon, with its writhen guard and pommel, was the epitome of Braedhir’s works. Skjollgaeg wielded Grumnar for many years, until he lost an arm in battle, whereupon he gifted the blade to his most capable warrior, Kranvik. Thus began the tradition that the greatest warrior of the Jarl’s men carries the great weapon. A few years ago, a fighter named Vahnkar fought a rampaging ogre that was terrorizing a village in the mountains. While the gargantuan beast, 10 feet tall and weighing nearly a ton, was a formidable foe beyond most mortal men, Vahnkar skillfully wore the monster down over many hours of fierce and fearsome battle. Finally, the creature fell, though Vahnkar lost his left eye in the encounter. The warrior took the ogre’s head as a trophy, and thus earned the name Ogresbane. Following the harrowing battle, the Jarl bestowed the blade Grumnar upon the mighty warrior and made him the Jarl’s champion. Second is a cut-and-thrust called Kirmyr. In the southern kingdom of Pomedica, young noble men saunter through the streets in flamboyant colors and with steel on their hips. In this land of strong passions, dueling is common among these young bravos, and teachers of swordsmanship are in high demand. The preeminent dueling instructor is none other than Maestro Phillippe Navarro, a master swordsman and himself an undefeated duelist. Aside from the usual activities young nobles partake of, Phillippe was also an adventurer in his younger days, traveling with a small band known as the Lions of Pomedica. During one of their most notable adventures, the Lions found the lost tomb of King Lucian I. Among the gold and jewels buried with the monarch was a spectacular cut-and-thrust sword, so light and nimble as to put all others to shame. Phillippe, as the best swordsman of the group, took the blade and named it Kirmyr (pronounced kur-meer), or Kiss of the Wind. Throughout his many adventures and duels afterward, Navarro made the blade famous, defeating every opponent he faced. Some say the sword must be magic, while others say, while the weapon is surely a magnificent piece of the bladesmiths’ art, it is merely Phillippe’s great skill that has allowed him such success.
