Here is an idea for a bastard sword I had. Not really over the top but definitely fantastical in nature. im not a very good artist mind you but I drew it so that each square is roughly an inch

Here's mine: Upside down the saber becomes an axe. Oh, I like that a lot! With those cool shapes that could have some really nice angles and edges ground in which would look mean, nasty, and graceful all at once.

Bandits Reverse Falchion overall length: 32 in blade length: 24 in width at shoulder: 2 in weathered finish blade blackened fittings this sword was clearly once a grand and proud war sword of a noble knight years ago. Now it is weathered and broken. A bandit who scavenged it after a large battle has made use of it by grinding the broken blade into a vicious reverse edged falchion. While it still maintains some of its former stature and elegance it is a constant reminder of the vicious cycle of time to its wielders victims

Bounty Hunters Warsword overall length: 43 in blade length: 33 in blade width at shoulder: 1.4 in blue weathered hilt components plain steel blade first half of grip brown cord wrapped leather, second half of grip bare wood with two steel pegs inspired by Japanese hilt assembly, still penned pommel however. This warsword has an unusually thin edge to pierce through whatever the hunters bounty is wearing, but this can deliver a nasty cut to the exposed areas. It was specially forged for killing on the budget of a commoner looking to make his living ending those unfortunate enough to anger authority. Where it lacks in grace it makes up for in ending lives. Its handle is worn and shows clear signs of age but the blade has been cared for lovingly and still holds its mirrored shine.

Made a few edits to my original concept. I did a different blade style with an etched pattern, and slimmed the blade a bit. I put both concepts together with two color schemes as well. The pattern has a meaning as well: when the sword is raised skyward, the eagle ascends towards the heavens. If the sword is thrust downward, the eagle seems to be falling. It's supposed to represent the warriors actions. If he holds his sword high in protection of others, he is just and appeases the gods. If he uses his power to strike those beneath him, he is losing his divine purpose, and thus "falls". Let me know what you all think!

Hello everyone! My sword design is called the Quill of Sylvanus. It is an elven-inspired saber with knuckle bow guard, double side rings, and a sharpened false edge. Handle is six inches long and the blade is 28 inches long. The steel spacers in the hilt can also be switched to cord risers under the leather wrap. Included in the vector rendering is a matching themed dagger for the off hand. The blade, when made in true proportions will be more akin in width to a light saber, the false edge resembling that of a szabla. This is the blade of the elven warrior priest Sylvanus who drove the darkness from the forest city he called home. This blade is swift in motion, powerful in the cut, and reflects the power of nature in its aesthetic. Thanks and best of luck to everyone!

This one is a jian dedicated to thrusting. 39" over all and 29 1/2" blade It has a pin through the handle, which is covered in the cord wrap. It also has the pommel riveted on Alternatively this could also come in bastard sword length if you wanna go less neo historic. Or more. I know nothing about Chinese swords. Measurements for the two handed variant are 44 1/2" overall, and a 35 1/4" blade. I'm kinda just doing party tricks with my measurements and pulling them out of thin air. But the dimensions don't got to be scale to the drawings I call it the Tiankong Jian, which I think translates to Sky Sword, if my google fu is correct. Anyone is free to correct me Story: The tales say that this sword was retrieved from the heavens from a young scholar when he got a god drunk and convinced him to take him with him, back to the land of gods. There he served them and worked for many years, in exchange, gaining insight and knowledge beyond anything he could find on earth. When his time came to return to earth, with a bag loaded with scrolls of the knowledge he learned, the gods bid him farewell and had a sword forged for him, to protect him as he took this knowledge to his emperor, to share with humanity. Scrolls of agriculture, medicine and technological advancements were very valuable, and it would be a dangerous journey to deliver them without protection. He named it Tiankong, as it came from the sky Attachments:

Elven Longsword overall length: 45 in blade length: 33 in width at shoulder: 2.5 in an elven longsword, modified to have a stronger thrust against human armor, something they weren't completely used to facing yet. The weight in the end of the blade allows for strong cuts while still very nimble in the hand thanks to an extended grip, and the middle of the blade is thinned for half-swording techniques.

Barbarian King Warsword overall length: 55 in blade length: 40 in width at shoulder: 1 in blued weathered finish hilt components, grey weathered finish blade, brown BKS style wrap grip. A warsword forged for barbarian kings intended to crush and break whatever is in their way if they are armored well enough to no be cleaved in two. A status symbol for the rulers over the strong, proud mountain dwellers. The sight of this sword on the battlefield alone can end wars. Light enough for quick stance momentum changes as to be viable on the front lines breaking shield walls and cutting into pike formations.

Here is my take on a Vampire's saber. _ And on a Vampire longsword: orry about the picture quality, the camera on my phone is not the best... Anyway, overall length on the saber woul be about 33-35 inches, and the longsword would be about 44 inches.

Some REALLY great designs here folks! I won't say which are my favorites yet but there are some truly innovative and unique designs I would love to see transmuted from 'paper' (virtual or otherwise) to hard, cold, steel.. With regards to the question on the backstory - it is not absolutely necessary to have one, but a good backstory COULD be the difference between crossing the finish line and falling short, so the more background (and the more imaginative and creative that background is) the better.. Either way, if we choose your design, we will liase with you to fully flesh out the backstory - our end goal will be creating a fantasy world featuring all the swords and characters we come up with here - complete with maps, fantasy history, etc. EMAIL SUBMITTED ENTRIESHere are a few entries that were submitted via email. Borderer
I call this the Borderer Blade, carried by the adventurers who patrol the edges, and beyond the edges, of civilization. It's a large hand-and half design, blade length about 38 inches, with an 7 inch grip. It's inspired by a 15th century branch-hilted German arming sword, but with a wider fullered blade to give it more cutting power. Hilt furniture is steel, with bronze accents.
Milligang Hand Drawn in the truck with what was available!
Henry F
Teurma
The Warlord Falchion has a wide, chopping blade for heavy, powerful strokes, giving it's wielder a distinct advantage on the battlefield. It has seen countless battles, and has been the doom of many a noble knight. While lacking the finesse of slimmer blades, the Warlord Falchion makes up for it with raw power. It's menacing profile alone commands fear on the battlefield, glistening red in the blood in those who had fallen to it's keen edge. The bloodred leather grip and matching scabbard represent the bloodlust of it's fearless wielder. The exposed tang pommel and steel grip balance the heavy blade, allowing the sword to be swung with surprising swiftness.
Here I have two different variations of the same blade style. The first has a glave style design towards the end of the blade for a wide chopping edge similar to a falchion. The second has a blade similar to a maciejowski falchion design. The first half of the waisted gripis leather, the second half is steel, with an exposed tang round pommel and tang block.
Total length: 46.5" Blade length: 38" Grip length: 8.5

top blade the grim ripper max damage min force bottom blade a vampiric blade the lower "guard" would embed itself into the wielder and siphon off blood or life force to power the blade itself sort of an antithesis of a helpful blade would force the wielder to find new sources of blood to prevent it draining them

One more design from me: This is Amalgam. Its name is derived from its mercurial nature, so alike its owner, Damaskinos Ashraf, a changeling. Over the course of a very long lifespan, Damaskinos has mastered many forms of swordsmanship and experienced many different types of swords; thus, when he decided to forge his perfect sword, he took elements from some of his favorites. A curved, lenticular blade for great cutting and slashing abilities, yet with a narrow point to retain respectable thrusting potential; it wouldn't do much against armor, but then, that's what a mace is for. A slightly curved crosspiece with a diamond cross-section, taken straight from the longsword he'd carried during his time as a palace guard in Ourtos, capital of Asha, greatest nation in all the land during the 9th century. The bronze was showing its age, but it matched the pommel, shaped like the petals of a flower balancing a small stone as though it were a precious gem; it, too, had been taken from one of his old swords, this time from a sword he'd been given after his time as a ranger in the northern wilds. Its grip, wrapped in a vibrant blue leather, was long enough to allow him to comfortably use the blade in two hands, but short enough that it was equally at ease in one hand. Its scabbard, by comparison, was quite plain, simply being black leather wrapped atop a wooden core, though it featured a bronze collar about the mouth and an almost delicate bronze chape to protect the tip. Since its forging, Amalgam has seen action in places most wouldn't believe: the burning of the Batrian naval fleet off the Soundless Cape; it's hung at Damaskinos' side as he watched war hexes glitter in the dark at the Battle of Theyeqin Gates; with it, Damaskinos slew the raging white horn that had long terrorized the village of Bellmare. All such moments lost to the flow of time, like tears in the rain. Long has it been with Damaskinos and long shall it remain at his side. Lastly, rather than type out the specs like I normally do, I decided to put them in a separate image to give a better idea of what number goes where.
