That's pretty nice looking. They did a fairly decent job of replicating the movie sword (much better than they did with the "Father's Sword". It's likely that the fittings are made of pot metal that has been coated to look bronze. Doesn't really matter what they're made of though, it's meant to be looked at, not used. Be careful if you're going to be swinging it around as it's probably not even meant for that. Re-wrap the grip, hang it on the wall, and admire.

That's a sound advice, brotherbanzai. I will have a good look at the tang. I'm just a little affraid if I uscrew the pommel and accidentaly undo the wrapping of the handle. I don't know if I will be able to put it back together. But as soon as I get the guts I will do it. I will verify he soundness of the tread on the tang. It really has to be a good one to suppport the 4.5 kg of the sword while swinging it. Regards, Alex.

Very nice, they did a pretty good job of making a copy of the original.
I purchased one of the Albion swords about 5 years back. Kept it for a couple years and then had to sell to pay some unforeseen bills. I sure miss it, it was an awesome sword and the flagship of my collection at that time.

Steel Servant, have you got yours already? I didn't have time to record my swinging around... Regards, Alex. Yes, Mr. Spock. I did receive mine. I am overall pleased, but with a few drawbacks. Sure, it's stainless. But the blade structure could have been a bit cleaner. The fuller is a bit off center on one side, and the beginning slope line of the edge (I'm sure there is a technical term for it) is pretty wavey. But, overall, it's a pretty decent copy. The engraving is nice, and the fittings are pretty respectable. My pommel or handle was not loose, thankfully. Not sure it's worth a bit ove $100, but for a copy of a $1500 or even $3000 sword, I can't complain. I have it in my office. On of the guys I work with said "Is it heavy". I handed it to him and he almost dropped it. "DAMN!" he exclaimed. It is a big, heavy monster. Wish I could afford the real thing.

Ever thought of disassembling it, sending the blade to someone to copy in real carbon steel, then putting it back together? I considered buying one myself just to make my own blade for it lol. Cris

It looked nothing short of perfect in the pics I saw of it. Recently someone was selling a used sharpened one... and I seriously thought about selling my car to come up with the money. My wife put the STOMP on that plan in no short order tho... heh.

Cris The problem with disassembling it and copying the blade in 1075 carbon steel is that if the blade has a rat tail tang and you want a real full tang blade the fittings will not fit back... Regards, Alex.

Great photo! I bet the sword is an Albion. Arnie is shure showing the weight of the years... Steel Servant, now that you've mentioned, I took a more carefull look at my blade, and the groove is off center too on one side, next to the tip of the blade. But, WTH, it's a SLO, and you can always hang it with the nice side showing. :-)

Great photo! I bet the sword is an Albion. I would not be surprised if it is a Jody Sampson original. I would think Arnold would have come away from that movie with at least a few props.

I think it may be a Jody Sampson, but not one original from the movie. I read here: filmswords.com/conan/conan-sword-atlantean-making.htmthat only three Atlanteans were made originally for the movie, but later Arnie had 5 more done by Jody for Planet Hollywood. Anyway, it's a sword I certainly can't afford. Regards, Alex.

Regards, Alex. True...however, if you are able to copy the blade in 1075, I don't think you'll have too much trouble modifying the guard to accept a full tang, nor making a new wood blank (or reaming out the existing if it's good enough quality) for a handle to do the same. The pommel would fit regardless. I've seen the cheap copies, and there's plenty of room for a real tang through the guard and handle. Cris

BB and my project with the father's sword started with copying my wallhanger parts for bronze casting, and ended in a complete resculpt thanks to BB perfectionist attitude. I wonder if he'd be happy with this replica for casting. Big $$ though, I'm just saying.... wouldn't it be cool...

The biggest problem with making a nice blade to go in the wall-hanger fittings is the quality of the fittings. You would likely end up with a nice blade on a sword that was still a wall-hanger. I couldn't say for sure without seeing the Atlantean apart but the fittings from the Father's sword wall-hanger were in no way suited to a functional sword. They were bronze colored hollow pot metal. That's why Brenno wanted a bronze set made for the project we did together.
Hey Brenno, funny you should mention it. I've been gathering pictures of the original Atlantean sword with the possible idea of sculpting a set of hilt parts. If I decide to go ahead with it, you'll be the first to know in case you want in on the project. ;D

If there is ANY feasable way for me to up with the cash, I'd do it.
