Hello Everybody! I've just got a real bargain in an Atlantean Sword on eBay. Please check the link below: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180222671212&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=008I contacted one buyer of the same sword from the same seller, and the review I got was very satisfactory. The guy seems to know what he is saying. Let me quote him: " Hello. The sword looks like the pictures. The sword is, obviously, not quite as well-made on the blade as the Marto version. It is nicely-made, but the Chinese one has a less-accurate, but nicely formed blade. From more than about 5 feet away, it will be difficult to see the differences from Marto's. The metal parts of the hilt are very nice, probably indistinguishable from the marto version. The leather-type wrap on the grip is cheap-looking, but I just added some brown shoe pollish to it and it looks very close to the Desrtoyer version now. The blade itself is very secure and fits snugly in the guard wings. The etching in the blade is deep and not a "surface sticker-looking black thing" like the cheap versions of the father's swords. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the price versus the product. Sincerely, XXX" Comparing pictures of this auction with the Marto ones, I can see very few differences, the main being the wrapping of the handle. Beside this, they are almost identical, except this one costs US$ 330.00 less. If someone else decide to give it a try, let me know. Unfortunatelly I will have to wait untill Xmas to get mine, 'cause I had it shipped to my sister-in-law in the USA. I can't import swords via mail in Brazil. Regards, Alex.

From reading the feedback, it ought to show. It won't be the Albion model but then it didn't cost a couple grand.

Sure, it's stainless, but so is Marto's for US$ 330 more. I wish (like most of us here) I had US$3.000 to buy an Albion, but sadly I earn Brazil Reais istead of US$ or even euros or GBP. But from another thread right here on the SBG forum, not many of us has this amount to spare. :-) I know it's a wallhanger, and I don't intend to cut anything with it. But I do intend to swing it around like Arnold did in the movie, nunchaku stile. I'm pretty sure it will arrive, by the feedback of the seller. He has sold two swords before, including the one to the guy who gave me the review. As soon as it arrive, and my sister-in-law checks it out, I will let you know. Regards, Alex.

I know what you are feeling Mr. Sock, I earn SEK(swedish crowns) and one pound is 15 of my coins , one euro is ten and one dollar is 5.9. But the dollar used to be like 9 so it's alot cheaper these days.

Yes, sl4k, that's true. One Dollar right now can buy 1.7 Reais. But it used to buy 3.5 less than a year ago! Anyway I wish I could live in Sweden instead of Brazil. Our politicians suck badly... Regards, Alex.

Is it just me, or is the sharp part of the blade shorter than the hilt / ricasso? But of course it's the hilt that we love, and this reproduction looks fantastic.

Yes Brenno, the sharp part of the blade is just the last part of it. But this exactly like the Atlantean sword in the movie. This is the closest replica I've seen, not counting Marto and of course Albion. By the way, mine arrived yesterday at my sister-in-law's. I asked her to send me some pictures, 'cause I'm only getting it on Xmas... :-( Regards, Alex.

I checked the pictures available online of Marto's Atlantean, Albion's Atlantean and this one, and the difference in lenght of the sharp portion of the blade is less than 3% from this one to the others (This was done by printing the pictures and measuring the parts with a ruller). As an engineer, I consider the results close enough for the purposes I have. :-) I haven't got any pictures from SIL yet, she claims the box of the sword is "too dusty, and she will have to clean the carpet after removing the sword from the box, and that the styrofoam is disintegrating and leaving a lot of dirty". She said that when she has to clean the carpet anyway, she will take the pictures. Regards, Alex.

Brenno, just now I realized what you meant. By the measures indicated on the eBay, the sharp part of the blade is 22 inches long approx., and the handle/ricasso is 18.5 inches. The impression that it is shorter than the handle/ricasso is probably a paralax effect, produced by the angle the picture was taken. Regards, Alex.

I hope so. I don't want to wait to christmas to find out. Would it please be possible to get your SIL to measure the overall length, and the sharp part only length. I'll give you karma.
I think the overall aesthetic of the Atlantean is the best ever. Not necessarily the carvings (mountain of doom pommel etc), but overall I love the sword. If this is a true reproduction I might have to get one for the wall (floor under my dressing table - no space left on the wall).
*edit* They dont ship outside US. Well you enjoy it for me Spock. Live Long and Prosper.

I'll se with SIL if she can measure it when she takes the pictures for me. I'm still waiting for the pictures... :-( She's going to travel for the next two weeks on vacations, so for at least 15 days, no pictures or measures. Regards, Alex.

Still no pictures or measures from SIL... She has just arrived from a long vacation trip, and is not in the mood for that. But there is another seller on eBay selling this exact sword, with more pictures. There's one of the sharp part of the blade, and it seems to be longer than the hilt/ricasso, meaning that the other picture was taken from an angle that created the paralax effect of it being shorter. By the way, I've just found out that this sword is a replica of the sword from the movie "Conan the Destroyer", as seen in www.filmswords.com. Regards, Alex.

Finally got the pictures, but the measurements are no to be trusted, after all SIL is not an engineer... ;D It appears that the blade is the same lenght as the hilt/ricasso. How do I insert pictures? I click on the icon "insert picture" on the Add Tags: bar and all I get is this: [/img]. Regards, Alex.

There are stickies on the topic. You just host the pictures on photobucket. Then copy and paste the image link for forums. The direct URL just sits between the [/img] symbols.

Ok, let's see if it works. Here is the picture SIL took. It's not a great angle, but it's the best I have. Regards, Alex.

I agree with Marc... As a kid, watching Conan and seeing Arnold swing that HUGE sword around... I was hooked! The sword looks decent from that distance... but it's still all wraped up too. I look forward to hearing how it looks and FEELS once you get you hands on it. Crom!!!

I'll let everybody know what it really is like as soon as put my eager hands on it, but it will only happen on December 19th... I will take accurate measures too, of course. And if it's not too hard, I will try to disassemble it to see the tang and the quality of fittings. Regards, Alex. P.S. Since cutting with it is not very adviseable, I intend to swing it around just like Arnold did in the movie. I will try to record it and post to Youtube.
