Ok, apologies to everyone for the break in transmission.
As you can clearly see, the forum migration is now complete and we have a new address too.. The original name was to be 'sbgswordforum' but the register wanted another $100+ for that domain name, but we were able to secure 'sword-forum' so as that is what we are, it made the most sense..
But at heart, despite a stripped back look, that is what we are..
The new look also has a very functional purpose - we are going for SPEED here and the template is designed just for that application. Under the hood, our new dedicated server has some serious juice too, so for now we are running things at a modest speed but we have massive reserves we can now rev up if we experience another slowdown (unlike before, where we were stuck with whatever resources our host would bother to throw our way).
Anyway, the important thing is - we are back, and we are running fast!
No doubt some of you will encounter a few bugs, issues or other things you may not like about the new set up, so if this is the case please speak up in this thread and we will try to get anything that's a bit off fixed up asap.
A FEW MORE NOTES ON THE CURRENT TEMPLATE
Apart from the fact that our new forum template is stripped back and built for speed, it does have a couple of other features that are quite handy - the left nav bar will be build up with extra links to especially helpful links and featured forum content to make navigation easier for new visitors. Plus we have replaced the icons so they are easier to understand what a particular post is (i.e. information, sticky, hot topic, etc).
Hope it isn't too much of a shock - but we did need to strip it all back. What you see right now is NOT the final look, but the basics of the engine are all here - from now we will just be doing a few tweaks and decorating - I'll touch base with you all on that again later.
Anyway, let me know if you have any ideas or encounter anything screwy and we will do our best to get it fixed up asap.
Thanks for your patience when we were down and welcome to our new home!
Let's get settled in, re-arrange the furniture a bit and hang some swords on the wall.
