AfterMuch thought as to what i am going to use as a backup to my M1a and Glocks, I am leaning heavaly toward the Direction of a more modern "interpretation" of American made edged "sword" type steel. Now Anyone who has A Zombie tools sword or chopper please chime in and tell me if you got, "get" your moneys worth and what you think about the direction you took. I like all of the swords but like the deuce and the decapitan but then again the phalanx is awsome and the Katana type swords look deadly.. I saw the vid's and am impressed. I want the decapitan or deuce in a polished finish i think ... Thank you all

From a purely armchair perspective, I'd recommend the Deuce or the Spit.

Big, big, big, Yay!
I have the Deuce, the D'Cap, and the new Urban Bone Machete and they are WELL worth the money. They will become your got to blade for anything in the real world, the look even better when they are used and you won't mind gettin them dirty. They are very well made, are razor sharp, an have a nice distal taper.
I unfortunately had to use the UBM to put down a bird that one of my dogs had malled in our yard, the poor thing was suffering and could not be saved. It was in the rain storm and I would have never used one of my nice Kats, or Sabers to do the job...
Also, their customer service is awesome, and they have no problem answering any questions you have, great bunch of guys.

I saw the destructive test. Looks amazing, i just really hate the white blood splatter pattern. It's a tad expensive in my opinion for what I assume are very tactical weapons and not mid range katanas or Western swords. I'd buy one for around the 200s though, and they are what I would want as a side weapon in an apocalypse scenario purely because o their durability and practicality.

Definitely yay. Very well made, rugged blades that truly fit their apocalyptic theme. I have a Vakra from them, I'm planning on getting a Felon or D'Cap later on.
King, you can get the blades hammer finished. It looks much better IMO.

I think the finish depends on the model too, the D'Cap looks the best with the acid streaking IMHO.

I would also think that the smooth finish would be easier to cut with on most of the blades. And you can also order them with no acid etch or hammering.

I would say, Yay.
I have the D'Capitan and I also cut with Dirtydan's Hellion and his two Vakras. I agree pretty much what Elrikk says, except about the swords coming razor sharp. All four blades that I have seen, did not come razor sharp.....they are sharp and with effort, can cut Musashi and Goza mats.
The acid finish and be sanded off, it even starts rubbing off when cutting mats and bottles. I don't really care for the acid finish but it does lot cool when the lights hit the acid blood splatter. When swinging the blade in light the splatter sparkles and it can distract people who see it.

Yes, I agree I overstated a bit on the sharpness, but they still come with a nice edge.

That i agreed with to some extent. The gunto I just got, while as nice as it is, isn'tquiet as paper carving sharp as my zhisword. Just from what I observe after multiple trial, the zhisword consistenlt slice paper in half in one swing vertically while the gunto manage to only do it horizontally and seem to tear the paper after a while if slice vertically.

Love my ZT would like to say if you don't like the acid etch finish I ordered mine with a hammered finish and it turned out great.

I received their wolf viking sword a couple weeks ago. As I said in another thread, I am still trying to decide if I like it or not. If I had paid 250.00 or less, I would really like it. At what I paid though, not sure it is worth the 500.00 plus shipping.
It is a beast and could inflict some serious damage. My observations on the price is just a personal one and some folks would love it even at the price they sell for. At 500 plus, you are in most of the Albion Squire Line range, VA range, Del Tin range and a few other good swords range.

to play DA there are many conventional blades that preform just as well for cheaper. i will say though that in some cases like the spit, ferrous wolf, and mack dadao they are your best hope for cheap and functional.

I own a few of their blades. I love them. I guess my complaint would be that it's a hit or miss on how sharp they come. My other complaint would be the sheath. I like the sheath, I just kind of thought that it would come with some straps or something. Wouldn't be a problem to come up with something for them I guess.

The Wolf Viking Sword is good if you only use a hammer grip. If you try to use a handshake grip, the pommel will tear your hand up as the edges on the pommel are a semprini. Have not tried it out with a thicker glove yet. Great chopper though.

The guys at ZT are still fairly new to this business, and to my knowledge, its just them making the blades. They don't have access to unlimited cheap labor and it doesn't seem like they have perfected mass productin of their products. As time goes on I hope they work out the kinks and able to streamline the process. Weather they planned it or not they are following a business model that is destined for success. They created a unique, functional, artistic , product at a reasonable price. They have outstanding customer service (I usually get a responce from Chris within a day or two). Also, they've created a BRAND and a sense of community (I worked in the automotive industry for 24 years and this is something that most manufactures would kill for). They have a 3 month backlog of orders (like Honda in the 80's), my only hope is that they continue to come out with new designs and also find a way for them not to get burned out and get more help...
Just my 2 cents.

not gonna lie i may hate the zombie aesthetic and lack of custom work but they have good cust serv and are cheap for their quality. makes most other american sword companies seem like emo mizers. the only reason i stopped looking into getting their japanese swords was the lack of normal parts like tsuba and their use of kydex without the option for leather and or aluminum sheathes.

Horrible story but it fits his thread... About a month ago my wife wakes me out of a sound sleep crying. One of the dogs had caught a baby bird and mauled it. It wasn't dead and she said it was beyond help, but my wife wanted me to "DO SOMETHING!" It was pouring rain and I had on just a pair of shorts. Bleary eyed I ran past my dining room table, where my new acquisitions where always opened. The day before I had just received a Hanwei Lion Dog and ZT Urban Bone Machete...guess which one I picked for this job? I reluctantly ended the suffering of the baby bird, and the UBM was the right tool for the job.
I guess my point is these ZT's are a blade to be used in the real world, and dents, dings, scratches, just add to the aesthetic rather than mar its beauty...

A definite yes on Zombie Tools blades. I have acquired several of their weapons. 2 Vakras, The Deuce, D'Capitan, Zakasushi, The Tooth, Tainto, Mack Daddy O, The Reaper, Urban Bone Machete 2012 and 2 Felons. I can easily say that these blades are some of the best I've ever laid my hands upon. Their finishes are absolutely beautiful and I am still, to this day purchasing more ZT blades. And to the naysayers: GET A ZT BLADE. You will not be disappointed. Also, I run a FB page called "ZT for Life" You can go there to look at various photos and reviews.
