I did a little checking with my wife, and then with my team of sword/beer advisers, and I think it may be possible to come up with a darn good unsharpened copy of what my great T-10 looks like from the massive list of options found here- www.ryansword.com/index.php?main ... 8000e13e98 The preponderance of opinion here is that "What the heck, go for it!".....its only a few bucks and it's a non-sharp sword anyway..... I think I may contact this vender and discuss what Im seeking to end up with....

I hope they can do what you ask. Your T10 is pretty dang awesome, so having a companion piece would be sweet.

we shall see.....I sent an email but no word yet back....Im not sure what time it is in China?..LOL
The image I have in my mind that is the thing Im seeking is based on what i saw at a martial arts competition I was in back in 2004. there were two guys who did cutting with katana and then they did the normal kata sword forms...You could hear a pin drop in that gym....1000s of people were on the edge of their seats while these two guys did the forms with what looked like very sharp swords...
Only later when i was talking to them did I learn that after they did the sword cutting on the mats they both switched swords to matching un-sharpened swords to do the kata stuff....
Not a bad demonstration....
I would like to also have a matching blunt sword that looks ..well, more or less like my T-10 from a distance. But I dont want to spend any cash right now on this idea..but if i can find a close matching sword for a great price?...Im interested!
we shall see.....
yes, we shall see.....

One thing to be sure....the ryan Swords website sure has a lot of things to pick from! www.ryansword.com/index.php?main ... ordfitings Right away i have started to kick around the things i would want on a non-sharp sword to match the T-10. The Tsuba will be number # 603The Ito will be the Silk Ito number # 32Yes, my T-10 is the normal coton wrapping, but I have always wanted to know what a silk handle wrap felt like and this is a good chance to find out...LOL The Ray Skin will be number # 02The Saya will be number #5

When building a nonsharp sword with a fake Harmon I'm not really sure that the type of steel is a topic I know much about...
I will just have to make a guess...

Think a real silk wrap is worth it?

Two things new as of this morn...
First I hates the new look of gmail...
And second I have contacted the vender and was happy to learn that they answer their mail ...and that I can order a nonsharp sword from them as I design.
With this weekend to go over the matter I hope to finalize things one way or the other by the start of the new week.
On a side note it is nice to deal with a sword vender that has a good handle on English.
If I order the sword it will be one of very few such swords talked about here...so I may have to find a means to have someone do a more independent review than I could.
I tho k its hard for the owners of swords to give a true indehvpendent review of a sword as they have money invested in the thing.

I decided to spring for the real silk handle wrap

Nice. I prefer silk myself. Not a huge fan of synthetics. Cotton is okay, but it can be hard to find a quality source of good looking material. Silk is also longer wearing, so you end up needing fewer re-wraps.

It should be interesting to compare the cloth to the silk. Just as it will be interesting to compare my $300 T-10 to the $42 Ryan unsharp.

I have placed an order for that $42 non-sharp sword from Ryan Swords I gave the link to, and have received conformation of the order. I have made a good faith effort to use the Ryan Swords website ( www.ryansword.com/index.php?main ... 1d81325314 ) to order this non-sharp sword with the correct fittings to be a good match for my more expensive T-10 . I do not expect the quality of such a $42 sword to match the quality of the T-10 in every manner, but the goal I have is to end up with a non-sharp sword that from the distance of around 20 feet or so is close enough to serve as the "stunt double" for the T-10. This would provide me with a very safe way to participate in sword forms (like Kendo Kata)during demonstrations. There is also the matter of the Ryan Sword "reputation" to deal with, and that I hope to be able to now provide this SBG Forum membership with a more fresh example to use and refer to when discussing the quality of swords from different Chinese sources. I have a sword from Huawei I have a sword from Musashi I have now a sword from Ryan Swords I believe this to be a good start of an interesting collection , that will be fun to talk about and to show my friends as examples of what the current production-sword market is like.

But Hon...It's for the foruuummm!
But seriously, I got a pretty sweet 14 mega pixel Fujifilm digital camera from Geek.com for about $67 refurbished, including s/h and a 1 year warranty. If you are budget constrained, as I am, it's a great place. Just thought I'd drop that on you.

I just use my Droid X phone with the 8 megapixel it has. Don't need anything better for this kind of stuff.

Cool or is it Crap?
when 3 guys ask me questions, i try to answer each person with individual posts to each.
And, sometimes when a person asks questions to me that involve longer answers on very different topics, I tend to dedicate a post to each question so as to keep things separate as to what Im talking about in a single posted comment.
I don't like to lump my answers to different people into the same single post,as I believe that will always leave the chance some other person feeling short-changed.
The result of my style of posting is that I tend to post a lot of different comments when Im at my computer.
Some people have an issue with this as they think it's in bad manners.
I just disagree with them on that call.
and, I think it should be pointed out that we cant control who if anyone posts in-between our own posts!
If I post this comment right now, and in 3 days later post another comment after it and no one posts in-between to some they will look at the result and believe Im just piling on comment after comment. They dont understand that each of my posts took a while to write, is on a totally different topic, and each of the topics have nothing to do with each other.
I cant help it really if some people have an issue with this...
All i can say is this: In a few days Im about to post a very short story of getting my new Ryan Sword nonsharp Katana. I hope to inspire a few comments and questions from other sword collectors who understand that there has not been much action around here about the newer Ryan Swords, and so might get a kick out of learning what the latest versions of Ryan Swords are like...
Thus I guess I should warn people that if my style of posting drives them up the wall?...If they think it's crap?....well, dont read my post then and get upset... It's that simple. I dont want to cause any trouble...I just wanted to make sure i answered any questions asked.

Got my new non-sharpened Ryan Sword today!
Actually came way faster than my T-10 came....odd but true, I wonder why?
The package looked right down the line as the same that my T-10 came wrapped in...
I have started a new topic about what the new Ryan Sword looks like...plenty of photos to take!
