Very sure it is a fake based on the kissaki and the koshirae. Moreover ebay username is shanghai2058 and the sword is located in China.

Fake. Value - I wouldn't pay $10 for it.
On the other hand if you think its worth $115 to you then go ahead and buy it.

I said I like a hamon over a sword without a hamon....I dont know where the idea came from that I didnt know what a hamon was?...LOL I was saying that I enjoy looking at swords with a great hamon.
I was asking for points of view about swords without a hamon and if this is a concern to many people?
If you have a point of view on my question, just say what you think...

Huawei's 9260 katana.. www.ebay.com/itm/HANDFORGED-9260 ... 6180775103 ..it's on my short list now. It took its time to get there, Im not a big fan of the non-hamon blades. But it does have a few things going for it. I would like to own an example of a battle wrap. I would like to own a sword that is TH as an example of what that type of HT does to a cutting sword. and its hard not to like the video of the guy bending the blade and it goes back to straight.

The fittings looked like they had been acid-etched to look old to me.. However the blade appears brand new.

Part of the reason there is a SBG forum is that there is merit in asking around the question- ..."What do you think?"

hey man, it kinda sounds to me like the best thing for you may be to go custom. battle wrap with hamon is pretty uncommon. have you considered the SBG line?

From here
Given the number of people who have stated they have through hardened blades, and the popularity of the Ronin line of swords, and the espoused extra forgiveness of bad cuts of a through hardened blade vs a differentialy hardened blade, that have been stated even within your own threads, it is quite apparent that people do not find purchasing a through hardened blade to be strange. Consequently a sword without a hamon is not strange either. Given that people have told you that through hardened blades are good, and somewhat common, your question about hamon gives the impression that you didn't know through hardened blades didn't have hamon.

That's true. I think one of the things that many of our members struggle with is when the question is "What do you think OTHER people like?"
Pretty much everyone here has opinions but none of us really worry too much about what other people think, we buy our swords for US. Each sword usually fills certain technical specifications and aesthetics are usally a secondary concern. Generally speaking most of us here on SBG would take a highly reliable blade in a plain utilitarian outfit over something more "impressive looking" or "unique" that's not as coldly efficient. Also, one other thing to consider is that SBG is it's own very specialized and relatively knowledgeable community and what's popular here can almost be guaranteed to be different from what's popular with the less knowledgeable mainstream.
Think about it like this: Someone who collects antique guns has different requirements and opinions from someone who wants a home defense weapon, which is different from someone who is an avid hunter, different from a sport marksman, different from a law enforcement officer, different from a soldier, different from a....
Basically I'd just admit that we don't keep tabs on what people outside the SBG niche think is "cool" or "impressive". Here, like the old Applejacks commercials, "We eat what we like!"

I kinda like that blade. utilitarian 9260 through hardened. It looks like it could handle any type of user. And you can't really beat the price for a 9260.

The worth and value of that sword is simply incredible and amazing!!!!
It's incredible and amazing that the seller was able to con some poor souls into crafting such a piece of junk. I mean if you took it apart and examined it piece by piece you would see its value.
Some leather crafter had to sew the scabbard cover to mimic the original.
Some metal crafter had to cast repro fittings to mimic the Showa era Gunto fittings.
Someone ground out and sanded down a bar or steel into a sword like shape...etc...you get the picture.
And then they dipped the thing in oil, rolled it in dirt and dust, tossed it to some kid in an alley to drag it around and give it some "battle scars" and amazing that they go to that incredible amount of effort for the amazing low price.
The name of the seller - Shanghai#####'s- tells prospective customers that the only thing shanghai about this sword is what happens to your wallet - $hanghai'd!!!
CRAP! 100 per cent, genuine, cheapo, ripoff. And the worst amazing and incredible thing is people fall for this as the real deal and find out TOO LATE that they've been had and there's nothing they can do about it. Can't get a refund, can't send it back... no, this has not happened to me, thankfully.
Please apply this to every single "vintage military, samurai, katana, sword for whatever superior, cuts iron, etc.... etc....etc...." listing on ebay originating from China.

I kinda tried actually... I emailed the guy in China who sold me my nice T-10 Katana and tried to ask about another sword...
But I seemed to run into a problem getting my point across clearly...

I know its hard to see anything about the sword's fittings, but from what you do see....any issues?

Besides the fact that they are relatively cheap(as to be expected on so low a priced katana,) I don't see anything wrong at all. I'm not a fan of the crackle look on the saya, but that is pure personal preference. The bo-hi is terminated fairly well, the size of the fittings are not disproportionate to the rest of the sword, the wrap itself looks fairly tight and the polish is better than i would expect on a $100 sword. It actually looks like a pretty good deal, and Huawei seems to have gained a nice reputation. I am assuming that you are talking about the 9260 Huawei and not the Gunto, that is.

Seriously I am too new to this field to give a well learned opinion. But to my first impression it is TH, it is 9260, then video is impressive (but not the same blade), then the price. I sometimes spend more than that on wild bird food in a month, the birds can go find there own meal for a month and I could have that in 7 to 10 days and not be bothered about being sold an inexpensive durable blade that I can use until I learn how to cut properly. Rather than use my nice blades and bend or possibly break one. I have been thinking hard on buying that blade but I really hate the color blue.

yeah, i tried custom, but when the seller made me want to go back to the days when duels were acceptable, it was time to go elsewhere. but as far as i know, with the SBG lines you choose from pictures and they take the stuff you indicate and assemble. never actually had one, but they are on what, batch 23? they can't be that bad

19 is in progress at the forge. I'm pretty sure they only do DH for the customs though.
