I had one but gave it away. Decent sword for the price.

When I see threaded pommel I no longer consider it. A threaded tang with a (preferably recessed) nut I can live with, but a threaded pommel just isn't good enough for me, and it does look like it's got that infamous windlass whippiness.

This one's tempting for the price, but I've already got a Roven which fits this class of sword for me, until I get my Maletesta anyway. Still a great deal though, if someone doesn't already have a longsword-class blade and is getting started.

This is considered by many to be a good one for Windlass ... it is one I have always been interested in. If I was in a better situation for money right now I would pick this one up...

I love this quote: ' I intend to continue giving it a good beating because it can easily be replaced if the need arises.' Hmmm, now to consider an order.... I love the German style side rings. I had a clunky rattan version when I was in the SCA, the side rings do a very good job protecting fingers....

Ugh there're so many swords I want right now...I might end up getting this one as it's hard to beat at that price, especially since I'm looking for a medieval blade in that price range.
Is their sharpened version good? Would it take longer to ship a sharpened version, or do they already have them on hand?

Last one I ordered direct from MRL was my Munich, sharpened, and I had it from Georgia to Charlotte NC in about 3 or 4 days. Sharpening job was adequate, secondary bevel, functional but nothing special. I keep meaning to try cleaning it up a bit myself.

MRL sharpening is adequate, but past experience with it says it's hit and miss. Ones of got in the last 6 mos seem to have been better than previous years; or I've just been lucky.
MRL only sharpens on demand. It adds a few days to shipping.
Also, MRL policy is to not accept returns on sharpened swords. I wouldn't worry much about that. I bought mine over two years ago and haven't been interested in parting with it. ( If I recall aright it was the last sword I bought from Ryan WHite of Arms of Valor before he put his uniform on and went to Afghanistan.)

I have no plans to return the sword if it's not to my liking - the whole process of returning items via shipping it back is a pain.
I don't really expect it to be an apple seed edge, secondary bevels are fine with me (just not on Japanese swords). As long as it can cut things without turning into a baseball bat, I'm good.

Damn I wish I had seen this!
Then again, buying plate armor online without ever having tried it on is probably not the best of ideas...especially for us taller guys or those with fat heads.

Would make a good project blade. Shorten the blade some at the upper end and replace the fittings with a peened assembly. I had 2 of the other models from the Robin Hood movie at one time but passed them on.
Ernie could do some magic with one of these blades.

That, if I'm not too mistaken, is I believe actually almost the same sword as the Robin Hood King John sword they had going on...

I don't like the hilt on that Pendragon sword at all, but the blade is very nice. It has double fullers right? I know one of the Robin Hood swords did and I thought the blade portion of that model was pretty nice.

That's from the Russel Crowe Robin Hood? Enough reason right there no to buy it no matter the price. Ugh.
