Karma fly!
'Shipped', while exciting, actually means little timeframe-wise to us in the Great White North. Customs will hold my items in purgatory for as long as they like.

had a little bit more crunch than I thought for such a little guy
oh the shipping to Canada is awesome :? took me 3 weeks to ship to Major Cory a VA bristol... ...then the fittings and stuff from DSA took 5 weeks. No idea why the package had to go via New York...I live in CA for crying out loud :?
btw, it may just be me but does the Slayer look a bit different from the prototype? I was expecting something a bit flexy and light, but now it looks like a juggernaut :?: No complaints here
grats rick, looks like they shipped out stuff out en masse, would like to see yours very much also

Well, let's see: Prototype/original: New ones: Hmmm, maybe it's the descriptions given of it's handling and stiffness-- I had pictured more flexibility when looking at the blade itself than it seems the new owners say it has. Not complaining either- I think this sword needs to be stiff to help me track between the jawbone and shoulder/clavical for the decapitation- then good for the thrust in the eye socket to pick up the snapping head and toss it into the fire.

Everyone be sure to get lots of pictures up. I am waiting to see a few ones done up in the different options before I make up my mind.

for that pic of the three swords together, with the ZS in the middle, what are the two above and below?
also, has anyone had time to do a SBG quality review on it yet? would love access to that link.

First off I should say those swords are Chris A's. I lifted the pic from his post in the New Acquisitions Thread, where he listed them as: ( viewtopic.php?f=6&t=239&start=760)

definitely can't wait to see a thorough review of the zombie slayer. I wouldn't be opposed to writing one myself, but I am fairly certain I lack the experience required to provide a truly informed observation. Who knows, maybe a different persepcetive would be good. But in the mean time, can't wait to hear from the more experienced practitioners.

There are options for micarta grips, paracord, or the leather.

This is my only complaint. I should think the grip's right angled stock edges, even if wrapped, would not be anywhere nearly as comfortable as a traditional grip. What I'd want: quasi-traditional grip shape, with suitably designed counter weight and minimal guard. Why not some contoured micarta panels? Barry Dawson's Millennium series succesfully repackages the katana as a modern Zombie Slayer:

Got both beauties today....can't stop checking them out. WOW...in love with em both. the ZS slabs are very smooth -> gonna have to add texture to them
The malatesta on the larger bastard is huge - what a beast; I'll try and get pics up tomorrow
Micarta's pretty nasty to make Chris - you'll also have to be cutting/sanding a lot more when you home-make them. Easy to shape though when wet ---99% of it sticks to the belt or clumps and falls off if you constantly dip it.
Oh micartas slabs are very cheap and come in such exotic colors - I wouldn't waste my time trying to make micarta since it's cheaper just to buy it.

Oh yea, it feels great. Dunnoif i could hang on to it if my palms started getting sweaty ~ Anyone want to pull a RicWilly oil test? @ chris: bought these green micarta slabs...pictures still there but guess they sold out. The shipping is great - super fast (I got it in less than 2 days from the east coast) www.northcoastknives.com/northco ... pplies.htm The color is accurate provide you polish/buff the crap out the micarta (it comes just like in the pictures) It becomes too slick again After you rough up a bit - it goes much lighter in color, I'm guessing the exposed epoxy lightens it up After you handle it a while (or you can give it a few drops of oil) the thing will darken up.
