I bet the wait has been torture- but I'm kinda glad it's behind as it let me get in on the pre order price.
I can't remember if I found this out before; do the acetal grips come wrapped? How are they fastened to the tang?
Oh, and almost forgot- all black with purple highlights is what I'd call pimp -toss a touch of gold on the grip for full effect!

Valiant Armory is making it based on the Tactical Longsword from Gus Trim.

Is it me or has their web page been having problems for awhile now? I tried two different browsers and keep getting broken link messages when ever I try and go anywhere but VAs main page.
Does anyone have a picture of it? I would love to check it out.

Ah, yes- a colour selection otherwise known as 'The Shadowhowler" (I'm quite surprised he didn't order what you have )

My favorite colors are purple and green... with accent colors being black and silver. I also like greys and browns. With swords I tend to prefer green... but for the Zombie Slayer something dark and extra sleek just seemed better.... so mostly black with a bit of purple just felt right.

For me as much as I kept looking at all kinds of colour on leather I couldn't find something I liked better than the grip as it looks in the first pics Sonny put out in January. Same for the suspension, but for the scabbard I didn't like the way it fades to black at the top so I'm hoping to have the whole thing in antiqued red instead- blame Lunaman for that I'd probably like black more if my meager collection of swords wasn't all black scabbards already (save for one). I get your idea though- but I was thinking the antique red should hide dried zombie blood well I heard something about metal chapes being added to the scabbards; is that so?

I can't remember my color scheme, exactly, but it was a combination of browns. I e-mailed Sonny asking about the progress on these a couple of weeks ago and never heard back. Wonder what happened with that? :?:

The CSS website has had its share of problems, so my bet is he may have his hands full with that right now.
Also, I would not be surprised at all if the same Chinese exports issue that plagued the SBG katana shipments are hitting Sonny's sword supply as well...

Pink and yellow with little flowers on it and ladybugs engraved on the chape.

I have decided to get a zombie slayer, but I can't decide on the handle version.
I practice longsword on a Hanwei Tinker Longsword, and I REALLY love the pommel design... I understand the the zombie slayer wouldn't have a fishtail pommel like the Tinker, but still... I want to make sure I can at least HOLD the pommel part in my left palm.
Material wise, I lean toward the acetal version, but in the old Atrim Tactical Longsword design, the acetal handle does NOT cover the full length of the tang... leaving the supposed pommel area, rather "empty"... I don't think I can hold and control my blade there, like I do with the Hanwei Tinker.
The Leather and Paracord verions, seems to be more "even" on its width along the full tang... but I am not sure which is more durable.
From my experience with paracord, I have a cold steel tanto with paracord... I used it for camping and cutted come wood... the paracord got loose.. but aesthetically I like the paracord more than the leather (tactical).... and by looking at the pictures online, the paracord seems to be a bit "thicker" and might offer a more substantial... shock absorption...
Thank you guys for any suggestion or insight.. I really want this sword, but just can't decide on the handle...

A while back on a thread at MyArmory Sonny said he was planning to add some kind of slab, maybe wood or more leather, behind the tread plate wrap. If that give you anymore to think about.
I asked about this- if he kept this addition to the design or not- but haven't heard back yet.
If not, I'll be adding something behind the leather to thicken the grip. I love the treadplate/cross strap design, but want the handle thicker.
