That makes perfect sense. Higher power scope, bagged rifle -- these make it easier to hold tight groups.
Do you use 3-shot groups? 5-shot groups? 10-shot groups? ... to demonstrate precision? I shoot 5-shot groups. 3 is not sufficient to show the true dispersion. It begins to suggest a group, but 5 is better. 10 is the real test.

The groups to which I was referring were 3-shot and I've only been able to take it out twice since bedding it.

Sounds like you need to get back out to the range and complete your "evaluation". Do you have a chronograph? If so, what kind of velocities were you achieving? Standard deviation?

Yes I need to test it more. I'd especially love to take it out past 500 yds. It shot so well before the bedding job that I really haven't been able to identify an improvement so far. But I'm hoping it helps keep it consistent. Yes I have a chronograph. Havent chronoed it. Thank you for the link. Having earned my Bachelors in Business Administration, I've worked worked with standard deviation a few times. But not with my rifle. I live 3 hours away from "my" range.

Thanks!
I replaced the factory grips with corian and the ejector rod with a bullseye type. The Bisley frame fits wonderfully.

Had one of these for many years - had the barrel relined and target crowned, could knock 5c coins off a fence all day if I did my bit.

Really digging the M1a... I had a SOCOM16 and I miss the hell out of it, want it back BAD. My firearms collection, much like my swords, is a bit diminished recently... my beloved Tavor just recently left me... but I'll get some pics of what I do still have up here soon.

I don't think I could ever part with the M1a. Absolutely the finest weapon I've ever owned. My search for the perfect rifle ended with this one. My search for my perfect carry gun ended with the Shield. Looking forward to your pics Sean.
