You are correct, sir! Very close. All metal is cast, just needs some fix-uppery to make it 101%... then the handle/grip, final fitting, polish & sharpen... and then - voila! I'll post some update photos within the next few days.
Its good your paying attention, Travis!

John,
Thanks for the news! Keeping us updated is *good* even if there are setbacks.
More importantly, man: How's your health doing?

Thanks, Edward. You know, I have a hard time sharing less than good news... which makes for pretty good motivation to generate the good variety. I will let you know, though, that there have been a few castings that didn't turn out to be usable; porosity and pitting in the detail that was beyond repair. QC, you know. But #1 is still getting ever closer...
My health has improved to a very frustrating state: where I feel so much better than I had - that I feel like I should be all better... which just isn't quite the case yet. Hence my limited presence on the forum of late. But thats as much complaining as I'll allow myself - things are pretty good, really. Thanks for asking!
More news of bronze and steel soon!

What's up with these pics I hear about? Might be too busy with the longship thing, huh? Anxious, anxious...

Ahhh, Travis... you are my conscience, eh? hahahahahahaha Wish I was busy with the Longship, but no... that'll be soon, though.
I believe I will have something good to post by Sunday. So just a little more patience, my good conscience...

No small thing you ask of me, Travis the Impatient! But in the spirit of being a good conscience, I'll try my best!

Hahahahahahahahahaha... "Travis the impatient"?!? My friend, you and the rest of the Atlantean Warrior crew have been the epitome of patience, the very apostles of patience, over the long months that this project has entailed.
Rare moment of complete seriousness now. Your forbearance and support for my efforts during my illness and continuing recovery have been truly monumental. It is, for the most part, the good will and friendship that you and all the A W crew have extended to me during this difficult time that has fueled and inspired my efforts to get back to and stay at the workbench and rejoin the work that I live for. For that I thank you.
And hang in there with me till Sunday or so, eh?

There are few alive that know or remember the things of which I will now speak to you. Back beyond memory itself to the places of myth and legend, where once ruled a King whose very power derived from the lost land of Atlantis. A King who had transfixed the story of Atlantis’ doom, by his best sword smiths, unto a weapon of legend. All the terror and destruction of the ending of the lost land was written, in symbols, on this sword - the flaming volcano and terrible ocean waves and sea-monsters that swallowed the wretched country. Even the grinning head of death itself, who took all but the King himself, was written on the swords pommel. With this sword the Atlantean King drew down all the destruction and terror that had befallen his lost Atlantis upon his enemies, and built up a mighty Kingdom. All this is known from the legend that has come to us of the one who found the Atlantean King’s Sword in its unhallowed tomb. But I tell you now of seven swords that were not found by the Cimmerean. He needed only one blade to carve his name into everlasting myth… but in that dusty place of death, Conan left behind the swords of the seven Warrior Guards of the Atlantean King. In honor of their courage and loyalty, even unto death, the Atlantean King had warranted to his seven stalwart warriors the privilege of making swords for themselves in likeness to his own. And so were forged the seven Atlantean Warrior Swords. Each unique in its rendering of likeness to the Atlantean King’s own sword, yet all bearing the same markings. Some of the blades were heavier, some lighter, some more refined and some more bold, each as to the nature of its owner. These swords were lost for untold ages, but they were not forgotten. Now one of these venerable blades has come unearthed into the light of this day. Behold: The trail of these ancient blades has lately been shaken loose from the shroud of forgotten eons past. This blade has been found, and is even now being reborn to such former glory as the passage of vast ages will allow. Look close to see the patina of untold centuries that has left an adornment on the steel resembling fabled damascene. In dark halls where the only light falls upon ringing hammers and chisels or is of the glow of molten metal itself, this blade is now being rehafted and brought to the keenness of its earlier days. Its brothers will surely be brought to the light in days to come. And perhaps once again will the champions’ steel sound as ringing bells in the glory of conquest!

All I can imagine is the two of you wandering the forests and upon seeing the similar mighty sword at each others side, grunting approval and moving on...
