First off – Thank you, guys, all of you, for all the most excellent words of encouragement re: the project, my work, my recovery, all of it!!! I figure I owe you an update on what’s going on right now with all the above. I don’t like it much when I whine about my ravaged insides, so I didn’t relate to you all, when it happened, about the reaction my internal scar tissue had to my knocking off the mold from the casting that I posted photos of a little while back. Seems I was swinging the hammer a little too enthusiastically, and as I know, and should have remembered, from my karate training – all power comes from the center. Which is where I’m not particularly well knitted together yet, I found out. I got the mold knocked off as far as the photos show, and then got sat square on my arse with non-negotiable stabbing pains in the gut. Pretty much couldn’t move for about a day and a half. Lesson learned. So there’s a reason why this is all taking longer than I would like. And all I’ve heard from all of you is: ”Take your time – get healthy…” so I know that I’m the one getting edgy about it, not you. But still… So here’s the maybe, I hope, very possible but not confirmed yet, good news. I’ve come into line for a sculpture commission that, if I get it, will do a number of very good things. Make me a lot closer to financially solvent. Kind of put me into the real game, professionally. AND give me a whole lot more time to devote to my sword projects. Check it out: This is the rough sketch (for sculpture it's called a "maquette") for a seven foot bronze installation. It’ll be for a local Viking Ship association. How cool is that?! So everybody send out those good vibes for me getting this commission and when it happens it’ll all be good... Atlantean Warriors done sooner! Me with a little less debt on my back. And a seven foot Viking lurking the shore of the Delaware river!!

It is a pain getting older, literally! and we do not heal as swiftly as when we were young. It is easy for me to say take your time not being one of those waiting for a sword. But I am pretty sure no one wants you hurting longer then you need to get better. The statue is excellent but man he should be holding a sword .

Yeah, John, it is a pain - I'd like to catch that SOB that first said "You're only as old as you feel..." No sh#t. Thats pretty much the problem, now isn't it? Hahahahahahahaha
I did point out to my prospective client that Lief's hand was just begging for a sword, but the organisation wants to emphasize the explorer over the warrior. But he will have a lovingly crafted sword on his belt.

Best of luck on that job John... ...and yes, getting old suck donkey ass. I've been doing a bunch of yard work around the home lately... sprained my thumb, hurt my back, been feeling all around like crap. I used to do landscaping for a living when I was a kid... this is BS. Feel better brother.

Thanks, Sean! Only good thing about getting older (I refuse to accept getting old...) is it beats the only available alternative, eh?
Talon, I have the greatest respect for your cool alert monitor - so Thanks!!! Hahahahahaha

Go Greybeard! I've made the appropriate sacrifces to the Norse Gods and asked that they grant you the commision of the bronze statue. I've reasoned that it is right for you to honor the vikings with the creation of a permanent monument.
I truly hope you get the job.
It would be pretty damn cool if you cast the model in bronze as well. Maybe you can make several smaller sculptures for the members to buy?

Thanks, Chris! Appropriate sacrifices toward the cause are always appreciated! Pretty sure I will be casting the small version at some point - but that version will definitely have a sword in his hand!!! hahahahahaha

John, you are my idol in the world of great forum posts. For the record I think 'hahahahahaha' should replace 'lol' - it's much more fun to type and far more expressive!

Not to mention the underlying evilness that could be paced apon the hahahahahahahaha. John, Glad your feeling better brother. I love the statue. And while I may not agree with the " non-sword" stance of who is having it commisioned...At least he's pointing to where the swords would be. "Sir, where might be the swords?" "Over there!" Now leave me,... so as I can flex for this statue!"

Awww shucks, Chris.... actually, the "hahahahahaha" is a direct transcription! I'm typing and haha-ing simultaneously!!! and no, its not a pretty sight, I'm sorry to say... Hahahahahahahahahahaha
Brad - I believe that evil-ness is only indicated when the "hahaha" is preceded by "Mu"... as in Mu-hahahahahahaha!!! Which must be typed one-handed whilst holding one's little finger to the corner of the mouth and arching the opposite eyebrow. Sheeesh, its a lot of work getting evil...
And I'm overjoyed that you caught the "flex"! Fish gotta swim, Viking gotta flex...
You're exactly right, Talon - its a g#ddamn good thing ol' Arnold's got a good sense a yuma, or this thread would be Cimmerian History by now...
Mu-Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
