not me, but I know of at least one guy on this forum who has used a sword in defense of his home against those bent on killing him and his family, and I know of some shipmates who witnessed a machete fight between a couple of pre-teen kids in DomRep. none of these situations have involved historicaly based or martial arts-related skills.
yeah I don't think you are going to find much of anyone who can say yes to this.

Its highly unlikely.
You may find people among us who have had to use weapons in combat... soldiers, people who grew up in real rough neighborhoods... but a true out and out sword fight?
The world most of us live in is just not that way anymore.

Though i have not been in a sword fight to the death, I have been in a real one with real swords and was able to stop the opponent by showing his imminent defeat. I do not believe he would have killed me unless by accident, but he definitely would have severely injured me had i not been able to defend myself. it was a rogue student.

I was in a bumperjack/Handaxe fight once. No one died but a truck was severly injured.

This fellow was chasing me with a handaxe (an action entirely brought on by me for reasons which shall remain confidential) anyhow he got me cornered with his truck and grabbed a bumperjack out of it's bed and threw it at me as he came around to bear down on me with the axe. Bad move on his part as it turns out as he'd just gave a terrified man a weapon. |

The truck incured some damage but we both came out unscathed, tho he did take a piece of finger off a fellow that was with me. We lost him somewhere in the chase. |

i started this thread in reaction to what i posted on the higher end sbg custom katana about how i thought a push button release option would be cool. some forumites thought if a swordfight broke out, the push button release might slow them down...
