Aw man, the video has just been made private... but at least I got to see it once. This sword is the best though, because it doesn't have a guard... it has a gourd! edit: I did manage to save the info section... very interesting stuff. " I made this short video for anyone who is interested in seeing what this 5160 Sword that I made myself is all about. Sorry I couldn't find more stuff to chop. Tom K. is a ho and knight300 " (bolded by me for emphasis, and yes, it just ends like that)

Hell, anything he did in that last video I could do 2x worse to my falchion and it would come out unharmed, and it is about half as thick.

Listen guys, I know you all might find some of this laughable; but let's remember that this is a real person we are talking about. I actually extended him an invite to the SBG, basically telling him that he can find some knowledgeable and helpful people here who would be interested in his work. Let's not prove this wrong by berating him or his work when he cannot even make a case for himself in response. There is a fine line between criticism and bullying.

Well said Slav...I agree with most of that. However, there is not a fine line between reasonable and negligent. If the sword in question was being auctioned at a price of $1000.00 then I would have to side with you completely as a lack of knowledge is not something to be criticized. Unfortunately, what we have here is seemingly malicious. There is simply no way a reasonable person could ask that amount of money for such and object. If his family is in need of a well then it is highly unlikely he had 10k to invest in this blade initially, which indicates he wasn't "dooped" by any stretch of the imagination. So, the question is this...is he trying to screw someone who is ignorant and impressionable, or does he have a neurological condition which inhibits his sense of reason? just my .02

I seriously hope he joins here too but I have reservations about it too. you see I sent him a link to that TheArma artical about the physics of sword handling among other things and offered to help him find helpful information about swords, I complimented him on the construction of his tang on that sword as well as the Tanto that he had done and still he threatens to sue me for defaming his character and calls me "bully" and "ho"
maybe I approached him from the wrong angle or something. I'm sure he got lots of flak for that auction but I don't see why he needed to be that way with me.
no matter what if he shows up here I'll welcome him with open arms just like everyone else.
I too feel asking $10,000 for that item was out-right dishonest. I would think the same at a price of $2000.00 or even $1000.00. how can I expect a man who needs money for a well to think that $10,000 is not an enourmous sum of money and how can I expect that same man, if he is honest, to think that particualr item was reasonable to sell for such an enourmous sum.
I would feel better about the guy's integrity if he were to come out and say something like "I wasn't seriously trying to sell that, it was a gag and if somebody had tried to buy it I wouldn't have accepted it. the only thing I wanted out of that was some attention to the fact that I make hand made blades in the hopes that somebody who saw my gag auction would see one of my serious blades and decide to buy it."

Slav and Tom, I applaud your actions and outlooks. A BIG +1 to both of you, my friends. You are perfect examples of how we should act. Thank you for that...
I too would like to know the full story behind this sword in question, and would be happy to welcome its maker to SBG.

I have to admit, his actions and words have both spoken pretty clearly thus far. If he joins, then I do hope he learns a lot and adopts a far better attitude towards criticism than he's shown so far. I am of the mentality that the more good members we have, the better. But this man is old enough to have a family to take care of. I'm not saying he couldn't change, only that, well, if he's gotten this far in life with that attitude, then I don't think it's likely he'll be changing just for a forum full of people he'll never meet.
