Awesome! It reminds me of the sword from "Zelda" - the 16-bit version!

I can appreciate handmade products but that doesn't look remotely close to the now-$2000 pricetag he's currently asking. That he was asking $10k before only clues me in to the idea that maybe, just maybe, this man thinks a good bit more highly of his time and talents than the rest of the world.
Wouldn't be the first time. That this took him years to make has me wondering if its even forged, or if he just used a crapload of files on a billet of 5160 to shape that thing; I mean look at what passes for the edge...
Good luck to whomever buys this thing.

wait, I am confused... is he willing to pay $2000 to the buyer or is he some psychologist trying to see the confines of human stupidity?
so, the blades should NOT be heat treated then???
also he says that it's thick for extra strength... well, yes, if you make a really thick sword it does have more impact, but i also starts becoming a club with sharp edges...

LOL @ George
I don't know man, I really don't- because that's the same question I had about the guy who put up an 'actual Crusader relic' (or claimed it as such) - and it did look old, but it also looked strange. Anyway, he wanted upwards of $9k or so until a backlash of commentary made him change it to under $3k but still no one bid on it.
Without some sort of provenance, a seller is just looking for the next new sucker just born.
Edited to add: I went back and took a second look and now I see why the guard and pommel look so lackluster- they're aluminum! ALUMINUM!!!!
I'm not saying they're inadequate, just that they should've been made out of steel. I imagine it has to affect whatever balance this crowbar may have.
He must have the ad on a link-thru site because that portion of the auction is A-D (Access Denied).

As of today, the price is listed for $2000.
I find it funny that this guy thinks he can charge more than what people pay for more reputable swords. Consider that some of Jody Samson's weapons can still be bought for around $1000-$1500.
Note to Ebay seller: Lower that price --a lot-- and you *might* have some serious buyers.

Hey guys, I have actually had a bit of a conversation with this guy on eBay. He seems to know his stuff regarding blade making, and admitted that he was just hoping some millionaire would stumble across his listing and go for it in pity, since he needs to dig a water well for his family.
Anyhow, the listing is pretty absurd, I will admit. But who knows, maybe he will be the next Lundemo...

that's funny because I've talked tohim a little bit too. I thought it was strange that he would make a "sword" like that with such a well formed tang. you gotta admit that tang ain't bad.

I like the blade of it, but the rest is absurd, and for $2000? Um, no.

EDIT - the video and the auction have both been removed. I think this shows that we are dealing with a reasonable man. I'm sure that right now he is reeling from backlash from all sorts of people on Ebay and anything we say will feel worse than it is to him. he has told me that one ebayer actually threatened his life and that is a crying shame. I hope that the person who did that is not one of us as I would be emensely embarrassed about that. I'm sure it wasn't one of us though. I would be very surprised to learn otherwise.
he has a video of it on youtube:
enjoy.
I don't fault the guy for making a sword like this, we all start somewhere and I certainly don't fault a man for trying to better the life of his family by raising money to dig a well but to try and sell something like this for >$100 let alone $2000 or $10000 is absurd.
I don't blame the guy for being proud of his little chopper but some perspective is needed.

Well, I assume it was made via stock removal, so it's really not that difficult to have a sturdy tang...you just leave the bar thick. In fact, it would essentially take more work to form a weak tang...so, props I guess... but on the other hand whoop de doo.
