I dont know if any one has seen this yet. I you have forgive my excitement... Some of us have been anticipating the release of this model in full tilt sales. I personally cannot wait. forum.grtc.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=795a quote from GRTC forum... Re: Hanwei Cutting Jian? by Scott M. Rodell » Thu Jul 09, 2009 12:41 pm Dave Chesser wrote: Do we have an update as to where these swords are in the process?... Yes! Just got in the completed prototype a week ago... I've very happy with, been testing cutting as often as travel allows & it is cutting quite well. I was concnerned that the tougher, historically accurate, curved edge geometry wouldn't cut soft targets, like plastic bottles, well. Fortunately it does, & quite well at that. I've also gone thru all the mats I had on hand, thru the 2" diameter green bamboo I have growning in my garden & thru caoren (single mats wrapped around a bamboo core) with no problem... Here's a sneak peak of the hilt with a caoren I cut in the background. The fittings are steel.

I prefer to buy myself Christmas presents and just have everyone give me money so I can do so Unfortunately the cutting Jian purchase will have to wait until next year. I'm gonna be buying a custom SBG katana and possibly the SBG bastard sword depending on which one is chosen as the final design. Don't think I'm gonna have the money for it this season

Hope you like them. If they are anything as good as the look, you should be happy. I really love the SBG katanas, but I am not that good with JSA. When I use a katana, I get accused of Chinese dao styles. I might get one for the wife, though. she prefers the single edge swords.

I remember being really excited about the news when it was posted back in July. Hopefully now that it's actually past just a conceptual stage, we'll be hearing more news shortly.

Don't know if everyone saw this, but Scott Rodell's gotten his production type Hanwei cutting jian, so hopefully the first batch will be rolled out soon. More info and pictures on the GRTC forum about halfway down the page here: forum.grtc.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=795&start=15
