I would say it was rather poorly said unless it was a bizarro 4 line haiku, what with the unnecessary usage of the enter key and an absence of punctuation. In other news, the master sword is pretty awesome. we talk about swords here. not proper english. We can talk about both ;D

I couldn't resist. This video is priceless.
First of all, don't believe a thing this guy says. Almost every fact he gives is either false or an extreme exaggeration. I own that replica, and there's no way to convert it into anything functional.

the part where he said he made it was the absolute best part didnt see that coming does he realize that even if you could put a functional blade in a display handle itd still just be a BAAAAAD idea "teaches katana" "stamp of approval"
WOW !
"Look at it Just Look at it" "Meet a girl about a triforce"
Pure win
the only thing that could make that video better would be the shamwow guy doing it instead

Hahaha! The shamwow guy is awesome.
That guy on that vid wouldn't know a real sword if someone hit him with it and the same with a real girl, "see a girl about a triforce" is really secret code talk for "entertaining miss palm and her five daughters." As I've said, I think with the right bronze work and the right redesign you could make something lovely and functional but that is just pure crap and I would take him on with his functional zelda sword any day of the week. Stamp of approval from a blackbelt, McDojo strikes again, oh well at least with idiots like this greg gets a break.

Would it be practical (sub $300) to comission one of those custom sword makers or, heck, even a bigger sword maker to produce a master sword replica? (with a petition to show that its a commercially viable venture? - people who are willing to buy would provide some sort of guarantee)
And on a less earthbound note, The Unawakened (closed wing) master sword from Windwaker ROCKS, It's probably my favourite variation from any Zelda Series Game.
Oh also, that 'AndrewCutter' (so called 'practical master sword' owner) guy had this semprini (in the servitudinal sense, if that's a word) called 'WatchCharmedOnline' who asked him if he could sell the 'practical' master sword.
He got rejected, HARD, it was both saddening (Andrew just lost a potential friend =O) and hilarious because this WatchCharmedOnline Guy went around on youtube bashing videos of the other decorative master sword (plastic/lacquered wood handle - not sure which) saying that they were not functional in any way and then basically advertising Andrew's Video as almost biblical 'proof' of a good, Fully Functional Master Sword.
The semprinier even tried to lecture the actual owners of the sword (when he owns neither productions) about how their swords handled/ what they were made out of.
(Wow i went off topic there, also, if you're out here 'WatchCharmedOnline', BACK OFF)

I severely doubt anyone would make a master sword for under 500$. I mean, one that looks exactly like it.

I agree, you could probably get something with the blade similar or maybe even exact, but I expect that getting that custom hilt made would take a good bit of cash. As for convincing a reputable maker to mass produce them, I'm not sure how much of a market there really is for a functional one, since most who want one would be video game fans and not necessarily sword fans, so they mights till opt for the cheaper wallhangers. Besides, unless they get licensing permission I'm not sure if a reputable company would be willing to do this, though some companies are willing to infringe on LotR copyrights so who knows.

Damnit, and i was so hopeful =[. Though If the hilt is so expensive to produce, how are the wallhangers so ornate and detailed yet still in the sub 150$ range?

They are usually made from an alloy, like zinc, which is unacceptable for a functional sword. They cut corners in production and mass produce them cause they do not need to be made functional.

If you're going to buy a wallhanger Master Sword replica, I'd recommend this one. cgi.ebay.com/Zelda-Twilight-Princess-Fantasy-Video-Game-Sword-/370371350175?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item563bda4e9fI own it (small picture as my avatar). The proportions are dead on. The way the blade is shaped is dead on identical to the master sword we all know and love. The guard is obviously not blue/purple like in the games, and the red gem is a change from the gold piece, but I think it looks great together. This sword is not for swinging. The sword is horribly unbalanced; the blade is very heavy and the hilt components are extremely light and brittle. The grip is actually plastic. No scabbard with it, but the wall plaque is adorned with the Triforce crest, a nice touch. Overall I'm happy with it, it was my first "sword" so it holds a special place in my heart. Since then I've aquired a few REAL swords, and I just couldn't purchase another wallhanger, even a great replica.
