Are you talking about the rainbow bright sword? Probably the best thing to do is to ask Dan Bowen what sword he was using. You can go to his youtube channel to send a message.

no not really. It even says in his "Enter the Ninja" that is martial arts comedy. And on his channel it even says mixture of martial arts comedy and madness and that he is a amateur martial artist with minimal training.
I found this video of Chosen Ninja, I gusse Dan Bowen is or was an instructor for the Chosen one lol but Dan pissed him off.
That "Enter the Ninja" is funny sempr!ni! I first saw it on Attack of the Show before it was posted in the cafe. His vid has over 600,000 views. Some of his vids are him Trianing and he does stuff with Mountainous Dojo but its mostly comedy maddness stuff.
If someone was serious would they make a music vid like this?

I agree with you. But what I was going for was some people here are saying, only get VA and H/T because they prefrom the best in the sub 300, which is true....but what if you don't want that sword in that time period or that type of sword?
I got my Windlass a year or so before VA came out with PLS. In that time that was the sword that I learned the German system with I did all my solo training and cutting with it. But when I got my VA I pretty much just hung up my Windlass, and now I have the H/T and for someone who studies swordsmanship that sword is awesome! From time to time I still take out my Windlass and For awhile now I have been wanting to sale it but ever time I try I can't I still like it. But my taste has changed and it going to be one of the five or six swords I'm going to sale.
They are some good Windlass out there but most of them are 27" or under. I do have an older Windlass sidesword that has a stiff blade and I have seen some newer cut& thrust swords and they are whippy. The best why to buy a Windlass is to look and hold it and see more of the same model. I have seen two Windlass Saxson Hilt cut & thrust swords, one was a wet noodle and the other was ok and I heard of another that his was almost too stiff. Another good way is to buy a used one and talk to the the person and see how good the sword is.

I didn't know that each gen of VA PLS were so different. My VA PLS is the 1st gen. I just got my H/T longsword friday. For a sword that is 3 lbs, it sure don't feel like it. But that is want you want in a cut & thrust blade. Now my Windlass longsword and my H/T longsword has pretty much the same stiffness, which i am disapointed with my H/T because I feel that it should be stiffer than a Windlass with a blade longer than 31" . My VA, H/T, and Windlass longswords are all pretty close in stiffness but my VA is the stiffest one. I haven't cut with my H/t yet but just by dry handling it I can tell that my Windlass is going to cut better than the H/T. The thing with VA and H/T is that they pretty only make type XII and XVIII Longswords and they only do Medieval Swords and not everone wants that. Where Windlass makes swords from B.C. to today. The Windlass Longsword(Roven) is a type XX and there isn't really any other type XX in the sub 300. It is true that if VA or H/T made a type XX it would be better then the Roven....but they don't and I bet we are not going to see one from them in the near future if ever. Maybe one day Windlass would get it's head out of it's ass and start making better performing blades!

I have this sword, but when I got it it was the Longsword. For how long it is, it isn't has whippy as the other longswords. It is stiffer then the English cut & thrust and the Saxon hilt cut & thrust. It just has a little more whip than the VA AT304S. It cuts better than the H/T Bastard but not has good as the AT304S, I haven't cut with the H/T longsword yet(UPS should be bring it here any day ) But I think the Windlass would cuy better than th H/T. I have done some thrusting test years ago with it and they have been alright. I had some carpet tubing very thick stuff and I wanted to see if I could thrust through it. I did the test before I sharpened it and It went through the first wall and went into the second wall, not all the way through it but almost. My friend has an older MRL sword(I think it's a Del Tin) and it did go through it. I like the way the Longsword looks and handles and I really like the hilt. Muertebalck did some awesome cuts with it. If you look at his cutting vids you can see that it is not very whippy, if it was he couldn't be cutting the things he is cutting with it. I also did a review of it and here is the vid I did for it. I was getting ready to sale mine but KOA did there H/T sale and I wanted to wait but now MRL as their sale so I guess I have to wait a little more.

Yeah I voted Bristol and Malatesta too.
I have the Bristol because I like type XVI and I like the way it looks. I have also handled the Malatesta and really liked it. I wish is was a type XVIII, I just think it would look better as a Type XVIII.

At my old place I used to have tennis balls up. What I did was cut a hole through it and but an eye bolt through it and a washer and nut at the end and then hang it up with some string. I had three and they were at different length, one was for the head and the other for chest and the last for the belly. I first tried eye screws but they did hold, the balls kept falling off.

Go with the I-beam. I think that is the best bet. The I-beam can hold up against other swords like Albion and A&A. H/T trainers swords are good when against other H/T trainers. Other training swords can eat up the H/T fast. I have read somewhere that H/T are comeing out with new training blades the will be able to go againts Albion and A&A. Gen2 makes a trainer and it is peend with 4.4mm edge. www.kultofathena.com/product.asp ... tice+Sword

I'm the one who did the review of the Long Sword. You have to remember that the Windlass swords are hand made and not two sword are going to be alike. Thats why it's good to have more than one review of the same sword. My sword handles and sags pretty much like yours. my ricasso is 4.95mm and my tip is 3.0mm and one or two mm above thats it is 2.7 mm. Not to much different than what KOA and your sword.
I think that is just how your sword tured out. I like my long sword, it cuts really good and a couple of times i was going to sale it but then I change my mind. I just wish the blade wasn't so whippy.
It's my only whippy Windlass sword. And when I first joined SBG years ago, I was reading how Windlass had whippy blades I didn't know what they were talking about, i have a Windlass cut & thrust and it has a good flexable blade, not to stiff or whippy. My friend has an older MRL longsword(It's not aWindlass...I think it's a del tin, it has a wolf head stamp on it)and the flex on that is good. When I got my longsword I was pissed that my longsword was so whippy and not like my friend's blade, even though they were differet makes. I can still thrust really good with it. I had some heavy tubes that carpets are wrapped around. My friends sword thrusted right threw the tube, where my longsword hit and went into the secound wall of the tube. And I tested it more by thrusting threw some heavy foam, after that I wasn't so pissed how whippy it was and liked the sword even more.

It's true that he liked the sidesword better than the rapier, but he still didn't call a sidesword a true sword because it didn't have the hand protection that a basket hilt has. He would like the Hanwei backsword and cromwell but not the sidesword. The Hanwei basket hilt broadsword isn't balanced good, if it was he would pick that one out of the other two.

Yeah I love my Bristol. It's the best work of art you can own. I mean it looks awesome on the wall like any art work, but I can also play with it. Now all you need to do with all your swords SOS, is cut with them

The Cromwell and the Basket bilt, don't have a hollow grip like the side sword. Silver's perfect length sword well be different for everbody because not everybody are different sizes. The Cromwell is the Perfect length for me. This is how Silver show how to find the perfect length sword. www.thearma.org/ARMA/ARMASiteIma ... arryi3.gif

Silver favoured the broadsword with it's two edges. He said it should be "light sharp sword,to carie,to draw, to be nimble withall, to strike, to cut, to thrust both strong and quick." So a broadsword and backsword will work. Armour Class is real good and I want to get thier Basket hilt sword. www.armourclass.com/Data/Pages/17Century_14.htmDarkwood Armory as good training swords and I heard he can make sharps and or mount his baskets on a blade you send him. www.myarmoury.com/links.html?id=107The Hanwei Basket hilt backsword will work. www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=SH2003NIt's true that Hanwei Cromwell is after Silver, but it still would work. I have one and I study Silver.
