The last few weeks have been hectic to say the least. Car crashes, plane tickets, a grandparents' anniversary to plan and have, and finally a new car. So, finally, I have another design. The Brytnere - or Steward. I couldn't think of a better name. But that's where I need help. Anyone think of a good name? I prefer to have the name in Old English. It's just a thing I do. But hey, if the name fits, it fits. And so, here she is. No dimensions yet, though they look pretty self evident. The handle is a hand and a half. About the same length as the VA-Atrim 303S. The blade was inspired by the sword of Faramir that I saw in the Return of the King video game. The hilt and grip and pommel are just mine.

I can't think of a better name, but to me it looks like a sword that the Sheriff of Nottingham would carry...
"Shire-Reeve" (Gerefa) is the old name for sheriff, or you could go another reeve up and go with "High-Reeve" (heah-gerefa in Olde English)but again, that's just my mental image for the wielder of above sword.
Your name for it is excellent as well, and I doubt mine is any competition with it.

"Ye Olde Sworde?" Sorry I can't be much help with the name. I just wanted to say I really like that design. I normally like my swords "plain Jane" but this looks really nice, like something magnificent yet useful, vicious, as apposed to jewel encrusted stuff . One thought though, I would taper the fuller a little more.

My favourite longsword of yours. It's very proportional and balanced looking. Karma. Nothing wrong with the name for me.

Car? Well, I ended up getting an awesome deal. The dealer was willing to go down on his price and so I put my insurance check down on $9,500 and got a 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo with only one previous owner and 43,100 miles on it. A bit customized too!
And thanks for the responces guys! This is probably my favorite too, aside fron Engelas.

indeed! And I love her alot. Hopefully no one rams into her. Now I need a name for it though.
The old car, a red, 2000 Ford Escort, had a nickname we gave it after my dad said he imagined the engine being hamster wheels with squirrels inside. So we called it "The Squirrel."
For me, I have to have a lagomorph (rabbits and such), a rodent or in the weasel family. I know, it sounds so weird, but it's just how it is for me. So far all I can get is "Silver Weasel" but I'm not sticking to that for long. LOL

If your a fan of weasels... allow me to bestow unto you some wisdom from "The Laws of Ben"... a list of silly rules and parables made up by some friends of mine and I many years ago. Law 16: Eagals may soar, but a weasel never gets sucked into a jet engine.

You know, I've been designing for a little while now, and I just realized something that I've never tried to do. I've never tried to lable the type of blade beyond "It's a Viking" or "it's a medieval". Now, I would like to think my designs are completely doable and could easily be made fully functional. But I make no claim to being any sort of expert at all. I'm not a blade maker or anything like that. I just draw it up. I guess if we were to label this blade....maybe a Type VI or Type XIII? Of course, that's using a Geibig ruling, and not Oakeshott. But I'm not sure. According to what I've found ofn Oakeshott's, the Brytnere appears to be a Type XIIa or maybe a Type XVI www.myarmoury.com/feature_geibig.htmlwww.myarmoury.com/feature_oakeshott.htmlCould I get some help here?

Geibig typology is for single handed swords, mostly viking age. Brytnere would be XVIa according to Oakeshott.

Alright! Another design to pump out. This one is a kind of leaf blade design that I recently completed. I have worked hard to make a good leaf blade, but it has proven hard....though I finally found a good technique for it. This blade does not "leaf" all that much, just enough to give it a sense of grace to it's utter functionality and deadliness. Labeled "Bealdor" as the Old English word for "hero". Typology....I haven't the experience, I don;t think, to truly lable this sword. But for now, until someone proves otherwise, I'm labeling this one a Type XII. Man...it feels like its been forever since I've done a one-hander. Weight: 2lb 4oz Length: 37 Blade: 31" Grip: 4" Additional Measurement: 1 3/4" pommel, and allowing another 1/4" for the hilt, grip, and blade meeting. Type: XII or XVI For some reason, when I think of people this blade would fit....I think of Hotspur, Alvin, or Daniel Sinclair. Meh, we'll see. And help with the type, please! Also, I believe that Brytnere will be keeping the name. Thank you all for your suggestions! Crockett

If it's a 4 inch grip, I'm not found of where the really big riser is in the grip, don't think it would suit me. I'd like this one more as a longsword, I think.

I was playing around with a long sword version as well. Decided on the one hander. Here is the long sword version. 34" blade, 11" grip.

Yeah, I'd dig the longsword version, except with the fuller from the singe handed one.
