I kind of agree with Tom. Let him post the video. I know better then anyone how long it takes to clean up fighting video. Otherwise there is a lot of boring inactivity. Then we can talk about something we can see.
When Adam and I dueled it took almost a week before ShooterMike was able to put up the video. When he finally did, it was awesome. Worth the wait.

we had four cameras running all at the same time, so I have HEAPS of footage to work through. Hiroshi had a hard time working around my shield. I had a hard time holding on to my sword. I made the grip too thick, I'll be re-working it for next weekend's rematch.
we did a three point system. any shot landing good anywhere on the body ( 1" above knees up to head) was one point. 3 points wins the round. if we both got a point at the same time they canceled out. we did three rounds. first two rounds was me sword and shield vs. him kendo. last round was me longsword him kendo.
still not telling who won ;D
at one point we were in the bind and as Hiroshi pulled back and away he ripped my shield from my hand breaking the leather strapping and sending it and my sword flying. rotted leather. . . sigh. fortunately I had a back up shield. . .

Here is the thread Shadow: /index.cgi?board=swordtraining&action=display&thread=6239 Hiroshi had a hard time working around my shield. I had a hard time holding on to my sword. I made the grip too thick, I'll be re-working it for next weekend's rematch. Not surprised at all about him have a hard time with the shield since he normally does not fight against them. As for trimming down the handle on the sword, I use a grinder at the end of a drill. It is a real quick 5 minute job. If you have a single hand sword get it and use it as a model. It is very easy to go too far while grinding away on the wood. Here is a picture of one of my old swords that I grinded down: I'm actually going a little thicker then this these days. I use to use thicker gloves which necessitated a thinner grip.

wow that's thin. yeah I was using a converted shinai and the handle was very thin and I didn't like it. I think I'm gonna have to fix it. it was embarassing how often I lost my sword. as soon as I get home from work I'll continue editing what we have. we did a lot of cutting too. I think it's funny that Mr. Samurai liked my Angus Trim 1429, but I think it's even funnier that his wife seems like she might become a western sword convert. ;D again I corrupt the innocent!

LOL Way to go. For some reason I like western swords better but can't cut with worth a damn. Looking forward to the vids.

A buddy of mine I met on the UBC youtube group has challenged my to a duel (AKA: Friendly sparring match). He is a kendo-ist with a few years of experience and training. the challenge is his kendo vs. my western sword and shield. we will also be doing some cutting together. should be a very fun day. here's a video he posted as part of the challenge: I love this video even though he gets my name wrong. Oh and we will post lots of video. the challenge will take place at my house this Sunday. Dude that guy cut a tatami with a bokken I don't think you can win.
