GO TOM!!! Good luck, buddy. We're counting on ya. And a word from experience... Get someone to film it who is NOT interested in the fight. Otherwise the footage will leave a lot to be desired. It's DAMN HARD to watch a good fight and film it clearly too.

Tom, just a quick battle prayer. May your sword be swift, may your shield be true, I hope you hit him, and him not you! in all seriousness, Do well, fight strong, and above all never give up.

May your sword be swift, may your shield be true I really like that line. Is it yours or did you get it from somewhere else?

Seeing the video, I'm quite surprised that this guy has a few years of training as a Kendoka. Blood is right, he is very slow and his technique leaves much to be desired... do you know his rank?

nope I sure don't. I do suspect that he may have been taking it easy on his wife who was holding the camera. we'll see tomorrow how things shake out. maybe he's playing possum. I don't know.

Good luck, Tom. I hear they're making room in Valhalla for the loser.

I pulled it out of my backside, but I think I heard it in one of the Eddas. Feel free to run with it. Tom, Thanks for the compliment, and again, good luck. You carry the hopes and respect of SBG on your shoulders.......No pressure or anything.

tom: I guess we'll see if he is playing possum when we see the vids, I will hold my comments in check about his ability until then.

Best of luck Tom... win or lose, give it your best.... and HAVE FUN. I really, REALLY wish I could be there to see this... it sounds like a hell of a lot of fun and I would have NO problem making the 3+ hour drive for it... ...but the damn in-laws... damnit! I'm excited for you... I can't even recall the last time I had a sparing match of any sort. I used to compeat in full contact tournaments back when I was 16-18 and I LOVED it. I never got into the SCA (A bad first experinces which, I KNOW is NOT an indicator of most of the people in the SCA, I know a LOT of great guys in the SCA now) but I used to spar all the time with my friends... we had some epic battles for sure. ;D I miss it. Enjoy yourself... and I have FULL faith you shall triumph!

last sparring match I had was against my sempai who also does kendo, the speed a shinai can strike with in the hands of a kendoka is incredible. Not to mention he almost concussed me and I was in head gear and he was using a shinai.
