It looks like you could have had a double on that cut if you had been cutting on a larger platform. The bottle on screen left looks like it would have done the same thing if it had not fallen off the stand. I think your right... I watched it again and, in the slow mo, you can clearly see the top of the one on the left DOES fall into the bottom part of the bottle, just like the one on the right... but then it falls of the stand.

AAAND Billiam is IN! I had to go to some extreme measures to get my editing setup functional but I did it and the Gallery is a living thing once more! Muwhahahahahaha

Great! I can't wait to see them. I'll give karma for every cool cut found. I know there's more out there I just don't usually have time to dig for them.

hey guys thanks for the votes it was a pretty wicked day. Me and my buddy cut over 50 jugs that day and figured why not go for a big finish. I was just amazed how clean that cut went. There was hardly any resistance.

This vid submitted by Jonis a while back has nothing but great cuts. But the one that starts at about 1 min. 10 sec. always amazes me. For such a light sword to cut through six - 6 - mats takes great skill by the Swordsman, AFAIK. I believe that this cut should be in the running.

Hey, Tom! I found another that you might like... Here: /index.cgi?board=cutting&action=display&thread=4656&page=2 I think you'll know which one I'm talking about, but it's right at 30 seconds. If you consider that all of those cuts were done with a six-pound sword, it takes on a whole new level of 'cool cut'-ness, lol. I hope this helps! -Slayer

Here are a few cuts I put together today. I'm using an old ATrim saber, don't remember the model number, but it's a fairly light one. The guard has been forged into an S-shape and it has a naval bronze pommel. The cutting stands are just four 3"x4" fence posts cut to varying heights with a table saw, each with a 12-14" long 2"x6" as a base, free-standing on my back porch. I'm starting to like having stands like this. It makes leaving the bottoms a great challenge since the stand is just the size of the bottle. But it allows all sorts of mix of angles when cutting. I left any music or sound effects out, as the slow mo sounds of the water bubbling down the stand and porch sounded kinda cool.

Mike: that is a beautiful sword mate, I really like it, is it tip heavy? It took you a while to recover several, I wasn't sure if that was due to heaviness of the blade or if it was deliberate.
I hate to be the person to say this but the fashion in which he cut through the six mats really doesn't take much skill. The mats were contained so they couldn't move and he cut down from jodan and by the look of it buried his sword in the ground. That just takes someone to swing the sword. If it were a transitional cut in the nature of Kogesa or Kesa on 6 vertical standing mats I would be extremely impressed. Jonis is very good at cutting but that particular cut doesn't strike me as special. Sorry.

Wow, I'm honored that someone even thought of me. And the sword was not buried in the ground, there is a length of mat nailed to a board underneath the whole set up. I like my swords to much to bury them in the ground.

Mike: that is a beautiful sword mate, I really like it, is it tip heavy? It took you a while to recover several, I wasn't sure if that was due to heaviness of the blade or if it was deliberate. This saber is about 2lbs 6 ozs. But it definitely has "saber balance" and has a noticeable tip focus. On the first cut, fairly slow was deliberate. This was the first time I had cut with this stand arrangement. It's not obvious from the video, but the stands were positioned at about 9, 11, 1 and 3 o'clock from my body. So it was a complete 180 degree span from left to right. As for it all being slow, well... I could say I was concentrating on edge alignment and learning... but really I'm just getting old and slow.

WHAT?!?! THE Shootermike... old 'n' slow?!?! I don't think so, my friend! I have no doubt that you could easily defeat half a dozen of me, and I'm no failure of a swordsman. Certainly not great, but not bad...
Give yourself some credit, 'cause those pesky waterbottles sure won't do it for you! ;D
(sorry for rambling on like that, lol. I just refuse to let young-to-middleaged (that's 30-65) people convince themselves that they're getting old... my parents included!)

That looks like a pretty clean cut, and lengthwise down the bottle instead of threw it's side like you normaly see... pretty awesome.
