Cool stuff Master and Slav. Very nice. Here's 4 of my favorite cuts so far, all with a short blade. An AT1557 in a scabbard from DBK Custom Swords. My Favs - Part 1 Excellent Drawing and Cutting, really like to watch it over and over again. +1 Karma Mike, do ya learn any MA? Thanks. I've been casually associated with various martial arts over the last 30 years, but nothing serious. I began cutting out of my new-found love for collecting medieval swords. It just kinda progressed from there. I have a very good video on German Longsword, and I got in some training with Adam Sharp for a week last summer. But other than that, my piddly technique all comes from watching others and trying to figure out the bio-mechanics behind the good ones.

you've certainly done well Mike. I'm sure you train and practice quite a lot, and that is very important too. I've witnessed the amount of tatami you cut through and I can surmise from that just how much time you spend cutting. And that doesn't even touch your pell time. I know you have a pell. ;D
I'm still hoping some people will submit some more.
ANYONE?

Well Mike, you got the cut. You certainly are a very good "ghost learner" [thats the way we call people who learn from watching and imitating]! tom K. I must wait 2 days, I had to order some tatami. Tomorrow I'll start with some plastic bottles for my review.

Sweet! I can't wait to see! I know we have more cool cuts out there that haven't been submitted. as far as I'm concerned the cuts don't have to super astounding I'd be willing to post each person's individual "coolest cut". if you haven't seen the gallery go take a look there are some really good and sometimes funny cuts there.

Wow shootermike! That is some of the best cutting I have seen for a while! I especially love the one where you cut the bottom of the tatami and the cut portion balanced long enough for you to cut it again! A true master of the European Blade! +1 Karma!

here's my cut of a 3 inch piece of Bamboo when the other two more experienced cutters just bounced off of it. I was using my V.A. Castile that Tom sharpened for me. Who says it can't out cut a katana?

I saw this cut personally and I must say I was FLOORED! that bamboo was so hard to cut when I tried it with my Atrim it just bounced off. I made SEVERAL attempts and NONE of them cut.
Tim, you are IN!

Well, I guess after all that work to get a good edge on the Castile... it being REALLY hard steel and having some heft and weight to it pays off... and it cuts tough targets damn well. Nice work Tom and Tim. ;D

Tim, that's a pretty cut. The form was picture-perfect and the edge alignment was obvious spot-on. Great job!

This is a sweet thread here,... what would be even sweeter is if someone (with permission of course) compiled a sort of "coolest cuts" anthology video. One big video of all the greatest hits, so to speak...

Sounds like a good project James, I'll look into it and see how it might be done from a technical point of view. GREAT cut there Tim! That bamboo sounded tough as old boots, but as Shooter noted, it went through with great form and perfect alignment. +1 karma!

James, Paul, I think I could do the anthology video. I can download from Youtube. from there it's just a matter of editing. not today though, maybe this weekend.
on that bamboo: I'm normally pretty good at getting my blade through (I like to think so anyway), but I tried to cut that bamboo right after Tim did and I BOUNCED OFF IT. 'course I was using Tim's sword so I wasn't as comfortable with it he is I guess. no matter what happened that cut was awesome! maybe one of these days I'll post the vid of my and Ben failing to cut that same stick. you'll all get a laugh.

Boomarang floater clip....
Sorry this is a long clip, but it is always the last jug & the last cut that something odd happens. And no, my house is not sinking on one side...the wind knocked my camera stand wonky. A little off on my first few, but hang on...the last one was just plain silly...cheers....
ps having fun with my son's Hanwei Dark Sentinel

Well, here's the one cut I made that everyone comments on... It looks like you could have had a double on that cut if you had been cutting on a larger platform. The bottle on screen left looks like it would have done the same thing if it had not fallen off the stand. Nice cut and plus one from me. Vernon

Billiam, I love that cut and I'm going to put it in, but I'm having trouble with my editor right now and I don't want the long version. if you can edit it that will help, otherwise I'll get it done once I get my set-up fixed.

That's cool Tom...I'll just let you do your thing. My computer skills are far less than savvy, plus took me forever just to get it uploaded onto Y-T....it would not even load onto my Photobucket, too large it said. cheers, Bill
