Just a quick update. Reached out to Albion again...and they are currently working on/finishing up Mar-22 orders. Thanks for the update. They haven’t been responsive to emails lately which I can’t really blame them for. They’ve been working on March orders since December it seems like. The lead time has been around 22 months and i’m hoping that doesn’t increase again for 2022 orders.. When March rolls around i’ll be at 22 months.

I would expect the order surge right before the price increase to extend the lead time on post-October orders beyond 24-months

It's great they are staying so busy, I might have contributed quite a bit to extended wait times 😅. Least we have KOA, the SBG forums, AOC, and in person events albions attend for those who want to get one faster if their sword pops up sooner.

that creates 2 answers - labor time and elapsed time to produce
labor is most likely the limiting factor and is probably a day per sword, but the process probably requires a week to complete because of timing with heat treatment, gluing on the handle core, then leather wrapping, etc all creating delays.

If you've placed orders spaced time apart, you could probably figure it out - I believe their order numbers are sequential, so take the various order numbers and dates and work out how many swords are ordered per day. Similarly for when you receive orders.

I ended up doing them all on the same day, right before the price changes went into effect. But I guess it's an easy question to just ask Mike or something too. Just a curiousty I wondered.

I got to get a tour of Albion once upon a time. They do sword blades in batches. So they'll cnc a batch of the shorter, wider type XVa blades for example. Then send them through heat treat and the blade grind team. Meanwhile the cutlery team will get the parts cleaned up and ready for assembly so that they can get knocked together once the blade team is done. They cnc in batches because (at least at the time) their setup was easier to operate that way.
All that to say, some models jump the queue if there is enough demand for that blade type. Probably why there's an occasional run of Principe/Alexandria swords lol

I got to get a tour of Albion once upon a time. I did that too! Drove all the way up from Pennsylvania, stayed in New Glarus for 3 days. Charming little town! Lots of great food. Lots of great beer. They have a neat little living history museum about Swiss heritage. Also, the Harley-Davidson powertrain manufacturing plant was 45 minutes away and was doing tours, so I made a daytrip out of that, as well!

Received my Condottiere yesterday. Ordered in Middle of March 2022. So basically 23 1/2 months on this one before I received it.

24 months for my Ringeck quoted at 12. I am a bit nervous for those quoted at 24+ before the price increase.

So I just wanted to share I reached out to albion the other day to check on the status of a Ringeck that I ordered back in August 2022...and was informed that they are currently working on finishing Dec 2021 orders. So if you are looking at buying, expect a nice long lead time HOLY SMOKE they are behind!

Is the wait time the same for all of Albion’s product lines?

Is the wait time the same for all of Albion’s product lines? I asked Mike about the wait times for their training swords at last Combat Con. He said the wait time for them was around 1 year, and he was hoping to get it down to 6 months.
