Got the Windlass/Royal Armories 14th century arming sword. It's pretty nice.
Didn't like the etchings so sanded them off from one side. Took longer than I thought. Probably will remove from other side too when I have inspiration.
I like this. Are they actually etchings into the blade or is it some kind of stamp or anodizing?

They are etched and need some work to remove. I used 400 grit wet paper and then scotch brite which matches the finish on the sword.

Got myself LK Chen's Chang Dao last week and... geez, it's big. Easily the biggest sword I've ever had... and I like it! The thing comes just short of my nose. Also, a quick side by side comparison with the LK Chen Miao Dao. (Ignore the troll behind them)

I am a bit behind on posting in new acquisitions, but I have had a few recently I've really enjoyed. I did a trade with another member and ended up with a Solingen. Zach Suttles at VA did the scabbard for me and I'm really happy with it. As always, my photography sucks but I'm working on it.

I love that Caithness! It looks great with the distressed hilt.

Dragon King Modern Katana (I know, Andi bought another tac kat, ...again) 960 g, slight distal taper, some profile taper, hira zukuri, chu kissaki, very well balanced, a dream to handle. Blade and kissaki look shorter in the picture than they really are.

Been a while since I got anything new, and had any room in the budget to do so, but I had a small break and decided to treat myself. New family photo, minus the little knives.

New piece just arrived from Pavel Moc, kriegsmesser with customized wider tip that differs from his standard. Really well balanced, it feels a bit forward heavy when I first pick it up but when you swing it it feels really really good. Sailed through bottles on the stab but bounced the bottles I tried on, it came sharp but not quite paper cutting. I was also limited on space so I blame my technique mostly, giving it a honing tomorrow. A little sad part was the tip came bent as it had gotten quite a strong knock during shipping and gone through the tip protection he put on, but it wasn't too bad and i fixed it with about 30 minutes with a hammer and then filed out the final .5-1mm and shaped it. Including some pictures of bent tip and after fixing. Higher quality photography will come when I get the wool I'm waiting for to use as background

I got another Thing. Kindjal, like the Moro kris, had been on and off my radar for several years. I never could quite get into them, aesthetically, but eventually one just happened to catch my eye and that was it. _ Seller says Turkish c1900 and I don't know enough to confirm or refute, but I like it a lot, regardless.

That kindjal has very crisp lines and great symmetry. I don’t usually go for the type, but that one would’ve caught my eye, too. Very nice.
That kriegsmesser is awesome! I have one similar, and it is a joy to behold.
Congrats on some super-nice acquisitions, y’all.

I love the fullers, the shape is exactly what I'd go for in something like this, and the size is very nice at about 17.5" of blade.

It has been awhile that I could post one that was not a second hand Albion lol. Type Z Swedish Viking Era sword, reproduced from a specimen in a Swedish museum by Elgur Swordsmith. I asked it to be made close to the originals dimensions. Small grip length. Sharp as hell. 26+ months of a 16 month commission.
Some museum pics of this sword.
Compared to my Albion Jarl.

Got several items this month. Two are out of my usual wheelhouse. Received the LK Chen 1860 U.S.1860 light cavalry saber and Beiyang dragon cavalry saber (German M1889) Now, the only things I know about military sabers are what I learn from Matt Easton videos and the occasional foray into the military sword section, so first impressions of a novice here. With that said, I like the 1860 saber, it feels strong in the cut without being cumbersome, but I'm loving the 1889 saber so much. The synthetic pistol grip feels good to me and I was pretty stunned by how light it felt in the hand. Also got the cleaver falchion from Tod Cutler. Lastly... I got the rude bollock dagger from him as well. I know, I have the mentality of a 12 year old at times but it was just too funny to me to not get. In the name of decorum I won't post it here but if you've been to his website then you know what it looks like.

Apropos sticks: CS Pistol Grip City Stick - the gentleman with the iron fist CS Heavy Duty Cane - a barrel of fun A multitool trekking stick - where's the "laser"? The heavy duty stick is really thick, 1", it's a hollow aluminium tube. The trekking stick is a bit too short for me with this kind of grip, I'll order another one for additional segments. Both CS have the right length for me. My thoughts are with pgandy when I see them and my left knee seconded this idea. A kukri cane...?

I think Pgandy would really dig a kukri-cane
