1. It's been a while since we've heard of or seen anything regarding the RA/Windlass collaboration which means either the collaboration has been sidelined or canceled.
Incorrect. Matt Easton has made many references to a second wave of models in the RAC line, including very recently.
Ok cool, anything to link? If so this would dismiss the plagiarism suspicions, especially if there is a 2nd wave coming soon. Overall this sword is a good thing because again it offers the budget buyer an option to own the sword at half the price. Another theory could be when the 2nd wave comes the 1st wave will be or has been already discontinued so Windlass will be making non-RA branded versions of the other swords in the line as well. For example the 15th Century Two-Handed Sword, which would in a sense (and technically was) be an upgraded/updated version of their initial English Two-Handed Sword. Either or looking forward to seeing what is offered in the 2nd wave as well as other RA 1st waves getting re-released at half the cost!

Just for the fact that the nice black finish of cross and pommel, being just a thick paint, isn't durable, and will look horribly obviously modern once you scratch and chip it. True, not everyone is concerned about that. So I'd have to add - I can only imagine Windlass Black Prince as a wallhanger - for my use. Or as a project sword. Royal Armouries / Matt Easton / Windlass collaboration is alive and well. Matt Easton is takling about or showing prototypes for the second batch of reproductions in his Facebook posts: 26. March: "Royal Armouries, I'm in you. Part of the approval process for the next batch of replicas." And scholagladiatoria YouTube videos in the past year - the last one where he kind of teased one of the prototypes was on 25. March in video "CURVED or STRAIGHT GUARDS on Medieval Swords" at 6:32: But it is a bit strange to see basically the same sword sold as a Windlass one, without Royal Armouries collaboration. Well, I'm sure this has been agreed upon at the start, they can't really expect Royal Armouries or Matt Easton not realizing this.

Ok I can see your point, if it's the same as the Battlecry line bluing I dont think that will be a problem. It's very durable, so you'll have to really abuse it to get it to flake or chip. Well that's the thing about them collaborating, it obviously is or there wouldn't be a continued collaboration. Also, neither Matt nor RA own or are the creators of the designs of the historical originals being replicated. Matt is the middle man between RA and Windlass and the RA are where these swords are currently housed. So really all that's separating anyone (manufacturers or smiths) from making replicas of RA housed swords is having permission from RA to spec the swords which Windlass has.

In regards to the finish on the hilt furniture, a poster on Reddit commented that it looks exactly like powder coating that he did in a previous job. That would imply better durability than paint, although still not as good as a heat or chemical process in my opinion.

Ok nice probably the same stuff they used on the Maurader short sword/Rapier they released a while back. Here's a upclose pic,
Overall it's a decent finish, I've had the sword a for a couple years and it's held up.

Well the file size is too big and I frankly dont want to compress it but Tod Workshop had one of my grail daggers in a beautiful form in stock and I had to pick it up. todsworkshop.com/collections/in-stock-historical-swords-daggers-crossbows/products/copy-of-late-15thc-german-rothenburg-bollock-dagger-in-stock-1I already have a rondel which is technically "nicer" but the ricasso and ESPECIALLY the hollow grinding takes this from a crude poker into an elegant and deadly looking piece for someone who knows exactly what they want in a blade. Quite excited to receive it, a nicer scabbard mirroring the hilt may be made later on but I still need to finish my mid-late 15th century Burgundian/Netherlands/west Germanic gothic outfit including the sword scabbard first!

Got the Windlass 1796 LCS. It's awesome and VERY sharp. Totally worth the money (paid €260 for it shipped).

I now brought my sword collection up to 1. Albion Yeoman just arrived. It's a rainy day out today but when it clears up, I look forward to swinging this thing at some targets.

I cycle through a lot of acquisitions but this is a special one for me. The sword that started my obsession and first one that I became aware of Albion by. I have been hunting for it for over 5 years. I even got the blessing of getting one with a really well done DBK scabbard. The Albion Gallowglass. teamonecu

Got the Windlass/Royal Armories 14th century arming sword. It's pretty nice.
Didn't like the etchings so sanded them off from one side. Took longer than I thought. Probably will remove from other side too when I have inspiration.
