Here is my favorite edged / sharp item. It is my BlackJack Model 5 knife.
I carried this during my time in the Army and it served me well on 4 combat tours. It still gets used as a hunting , camping and kitchen knife.
5 1/2 inch carbon steel blade and a stacked leather handle with a brass guard.
Lots of memories tied to this knife...its oldish , seen some use...but still does just what it needs to do. Andy

Here’s wishing you fine folks a Merry Christmas and happy New Year! I am not eligible for the give-away, so I’m offering up my entry in the joyous hopeful spirit of Christmas and the wide-open promise of the coming New Year. As I look back over 2021, I must say that it was tough to decide my favorite knife or sword. My collection is pretty humble compared to the private armories and curated museums a lot of you guys so kindly share with us. However, each member of my bladed forever family holds a particular appeal to me. Gorgeous lines, adept handling, superb craftsmanship, well-adapted usefulness, historical significance; any combination of these is high art when deftly expressed in the ferocious medium of sharp steel. Upon reflection, my favor surprisingly turned to my Swiss model 1867 mounted officer saber. This has always been one of my most prized swords. Examples in good condition are relatively inexpensive, and are purportedly fairly common on the European continent. They are hard to come by in the States, though, making this a bit of a budget-friendly prize in my neck of the woods. The saber feels great in the hand. It boasts speed and precision enough for fencing, yet it is sufficiently robust to rigorously scrap against aggressive professionals met on the field of battle. Or so my imagination tells me. It is well constructed to close tolerances. And to my eye, it is beautiful. My example remains in very nice condition. I’m quite pleased to have it, and hope to be a good caretaker. I look forward to passing it on to my son when he is of age. Best regards to each of you in 2022. The Swiss 1867's are great looking swords.

My favourite edged possession for 2021 would have to be the Jody Samson "Lady Vivamus" Prototype blade Is "Lady Vivamus" a reference to Robert Heinlein's novel Glory Road? It has the best fencing duel I've ever read. Lady Vivamus is what the protagonist named his rapier, if I recall correctly. He goes up against a reconstruction of Cyrano de Bergerac.

I'm not certain if this one is my favorite, but if it's not then it's in the top few. I bought this on KOA a little while back. It was listed as a custom bastard sword with an Atrim blade. I just love it. The weight and balance are amazing. It seems to be on the smaller side for a bastard sword, but the grip is long enough to get a couple extra fingers on it if gripping the pommel. That said, it's more nimble in one hand than any 1-handed swords that I have. Happy Holidays everyone!

Jody Samson designed the blade for Albion that was later sold as Lady Vivamus, this was the prototype and has "glory road'engraved on the tang

The basket hilt has an almost Art Nouveau flavor that I like a lot.

I think the edged possession that was my favorite based on the amount of use it got was my lionsteel t5, but as an honorary mention I also included the Atrim XVIIIb.12 that I just got - I've only had it for a few days, so it doesn't feel right as a favorite for the year, but it's the liveliest, most "alive" feeling longsword I've held so I couldn't not include it. Now I just need something other than a potato to take pictures with... (if two things in the picture disqualifies me from the drawing that's OK)

The first new-to-me edged weapon that arrived in 2021 was a Del Tin 5140. Here it is posing by our tree. Happy holidays everyone! Attachments:

Thanks man! I forgot to grab the scabbard when I took the picture. It's a Christian Fletcher and so also deserves its place in the spotlight. Maybe next time.

My perennial favorite, a "Negrito Bolo" brand Katipunan matulis pattern bolo, shown here against the 40+ foot cedar (growing in front of my home) that serves as my permanent Christmas tree.
