Yeah, he absolutely deserves credit where it's due. He seems like he is personally invested in improving peoples conditions as well. He's on my list of people to support financially I will definitely be buying a Heritage Blade at some point in future. As for the book, I asked him in a PM on FB so perhaps we'll get news.

I’ve had time to only skim the SirKukri but you can believe that I’ll be scrutinizing it. I read every article on Gurkhas/Gorkhas I can find and there is now for me a fascinating video on the Nepalese rural life.
Not sure of the last photo you posted but those kukris look puny compared to what their ancestors carried. Also surprised to see the shields, as tiny as those bucklers are. Not much is said about it but Gurkhas carried shields at one time. The sizes varied all being small but none as small as those. Truly reflects the modern thinking where the kukri is no longer the primary weapon but a utility/show piece.

From my post above: "That prompted me to order a 15” GI4 from KHHI, which is my primary combat knife although a backup, for a spear for home protection. That one doesn’t handle as well as the surplus model but a terror to be reckoned with especially when use with shied.

Dang, I think I need to get one of those Indian dhal shields. I have two of these, one is a modern , cheaper rendition. The other is an antique made out of Elephant leather. I'd settle for the cheaper, modern rendition. Are they sold somewhere?

For whatever reason, when you mentioned that, I pictured you swinging a kukri with a medieval kite shield.

For whatever reason, when you mentioned that, I pictured you swinging a kukri with a medieval kite shield. Mostly a 23” round shield. At 5 lbs it handles almost as well as my 12” buckler and gives more protection.

If you read This paper by VK Kunwor (SirKukri/heritage Blades Proprietor) there is a collection of historical accounts organized by year regarding the use and 'effectiveness' of the kukri. It is a super interesting read!

Well! A good haul, all in all Two of the three blades I ordered came with inscriptions and one was twice inscribed to the same regiment. The one with the single nice inscription is 'Sri 3 candra :Na : Go: 2/24= Naya Gorakh Battalion' The double inscribed one is 'Sri Ra Ma 6/4 = Sri Ramdal Battalion' (Upper) and 'Ra ma 6/4 sri 3 candra= Ramdal Battalion' lower. Pretty darn cool! Shout out to Neil Champion and Juanci Orozcus for helping with that translation.

Man those are dope. A little work to clean em up but I like the look of them just fine as is tbh I wanted to keep them mostly in as-found condition, but the one was so bright already that I polished it alone. It really is a looker. Too bad it has that one very deep rust pit, but it's inactive.
