For pizza to be like BAD bad you would almost literally have to cut out a triangular piece of cardboard, draw a couple pepperoni slices on it and call it pizza, and even that might not be too bad. 😹😹😹😹

Speaking of other interests, in regards to cooking, I just made my own pizza. Been learning to make my own dough, I always made my own sauce, and added some good quality ham, the kind that has a bone in it, Italian sausage and ground beef with taco seasoning. I like a thick crispy crust if I'm gonna add a lot of toppings. The way my people make pizza would make Italians sad, but if you don't think of it as pizza when going into it, it's amazing Do you make your tomato sauce from scratch? If so, are you able and willing to share the recipe? Sure, dunno if you will care for it tho. I like it a bit sweet and no onions 😂 I pretty much started making my own sauces to avoid onion

I mixed in some marinara sauce which is a sweet tomato sauce usually any way. As for the onions, I can add those to the toppings. 😻 Please share the recipe? 😿

I think that's about it. I like to add tomato paste usually but didn't have any. I've never tried make actual marinara before but I just use my spaghetti sauce recipe, but slightly altered Oh and let it simmer half an hour to an hour

Christian, do you remember the name of the store? Or the name of mead she bought? I have never had mead and would like to try it. And I live in Georgia near Atlanta. Have you been near Savannah? Does the Savana River still stink for miles around it? Never been there.

Back in the late seventies we lived in South Carolina and were about two to three hours away from Savannah, Georgia and my da had a sister and her family who lived there. We would visit them over night once in a while and we knew we were close to Savannah by the smell of the river. It was horrendous.

Oh, I also play airsoft sometimes, weather permitting. I would love to do that, but with my physical condition right now; it would not be a good idea. 😹

Oh, I also play airsoft sometimes, weather permitting. It's all fun and games until the bullets are real. No thanks, did enough of that in the Army to satisfy my need to hunt humans.

Never said there wasn't a need, I'm simply saying that I've had my fill of it. That's a job for younger and more idealistic people now.

Airsoft is fun and all but actual combat is no game. Only a fake or a psycho would treat it as such. Airsoft you pretend but even during you know you won’t die unless something WAY out of the ordinary happens as long as you practice safety, then at the end of the day everyone is still friends. I won’t pretend to know what actual combat is like and I have zero desire to seek it out and pray I never see it at all.

To me, I feel that the airsoft and paint pellet warriors are fine as long as they understand that it is far different than real combat and not "the same except no one really dies". I actually heard a paint pellet warrior say that. The others said he did not know what he was talking about. Even though I personally have no combat experience, my da does and most veterans that I talked with do. I had always got the feeling that these civilian "war games" were no where close to being half way to actual combat.

It's fun to play war. It's hard wired into our brains to pick up a stick and pretend it's a gun. Put a couple of boys into a playground and within a few minutes they will invent a war game of some type. Put a couple of grown men on a playground and they will invent a sport of some type. Part of our survival in this world is our highly developed sense of competition. I don't see anything wrong with it as such, I'm merely stating that I personally no longer find any pleasure in pretending to do what I've done for real. I'd rather grow a flower garden and watch the butterflies - seriously and not even joking. I can see where Samurai would write poetry as a way to deal with PTSD, in fact, it would be almost a requirement to do something like that for good mental health. I never understood it before, but I do now.
While Airsoft has tangentially some analogy to combat, it's nothing even remotely similar. If for no other reason that when you play Airsoft you know that you will be sleeping in your own bed that night, and if things get too out of hand on the game field, then you can simply walk away. Being in the box you know that no matter how FUBAR it is, you have no choice but to deal with it. Airsoft lacks the ever present sense of creeping doom. And not your own doom. Knowing there is a chance you could get killed or injured really isn't that hard to deal with- knowing you might have to kill or injure somebody else, however, isn't. It's not natural. In a real deployment situation you might have to willingly do what is unnatural and abhorrent to human nature and find a way to convince yourself it's all well and good.
And there's other things as well; the discomfort of the gear, the mediocre food, plastic tasting water, uncomfortable sleeping (when you have the luxury of doing that), insects, nut rash, and a bucket full of other things. There are also the bonds you will build with your team mates. Think of yourself and the others around you as ingredients in a cake: you got mixed together and thrown in the oven. When you come out, you are now bonded inseparably to everybody else that was in the pan with you. That is something that cannot be created outside of a military context. If one of my brothers called me at 3am and simply said "let's go", I would grab my bag and start heading over to him without question and without even asking "what for". Your military service becomes the reality, and civilian life is the illusion.

Oh of course. Never meant to imply it was anything like real war. Quite the opposite in fact. It’s basically playing a video game in real life. Scorp said it perfectly.
