So, I’m doing some thinking that I may get a pistol eventually for self defense, and am thinking of either a Glock 19 or a Sig P320 Compact. I have very small hands, around 3.25” wide, so a compact pistol is a must. Both the Glock 19 and the P320 compact are on the table. I like the proven track record of the Glock, but also the modular nature of the Sig. I’m leaning slightly towards the Glock at the moment but that could change.

I just missed a sweet S&W 6906 with 3 mags for three bills.

Maybe rent and shoot both (among others if you wish) at the local range to compare. Glock is the standard but MANY other excellent contenders have appeared in the last several years.

You'll get more value with the sig, its its more tunable to your hand as well.i ave both, and the 320 is the keeper.
You should buy the Willson combat grip module too. It will feel great in your hand.im doing well with the olight valkyrie mini II light. Great combo.

Sig is a better shooter but I trust Glock more. I hear the p320 has improved though , if thats the case then I would go with that. The trigger and sights are far better, imo.

HKVP and Walther PPQ are nice as well. Lots of good guns to choose from.

I was just at the range with a friend trying to make the same decision between these two. I carry a p320 compact, and thats what he ended up going with as well. However the 19 is an amazing pistol, and it really only comes down to comfortability while shooting (which is entirely up to you). Whatever choice you make will be the right one with these

The HK45 is the same size, about $50 more but only comes in .45 acp. The CZ P-07 comes in a similar size to the G19 , ive owned all of them.

I have them both and they are both excellent service weapons but I prefer the Sig 320 compact. The grip angle of the Glock is an entirely different arrangement than that with the Sig. The ergonomics of the sig. in the modular adjustability of the sig. make it a superior system. I'll take some pictures of the two of them side-by-side tomorrow and post them for you

I would recommend you check out the CZ P10C. I chose it over the Glock, it fits my hand better, is very ergonomic and shoots great. No complaints.

I had a Glock 19. With an NY-1 trigger and a lighter connector it was acceptable but still inherently unsafe. I don't miss it.
I currently carry a Tristar S-120 - a full size steel Turkish clone of the CZ-75B for 1/3 less than the CZ - and that pistol is far better than any Glock I've used for a fraction of the money SIG gets. It's beautifully accurate and reliable with the 124 gr +P XTP or NATO loads I use.
For a more compact carry, I'll probably get the Tristar C-100 next. It's a clone of the CZ-75B Compact and is just as good.

Get the glock and be done with it.
I've trained extensively with glocks (+200 hours -- 1995 thru 2010) -- No failures and only 1911 and revolvers shot more accurately.
The TDA OS SA models (Traditional Double Action Operating System Semi-Auto) required the operator to deal with the long DA first shot. This is not a problem with newer offerings which have adopted striker fired actions.
I've not trained with other striker fired SAs, although I have many 100s of rounds thru my S&W M&P Compact 40. I am wedded to the glock grip angle. Take note -- the grip angle makes transition to non-glock FAs problemmatic -- my instinctive pointing is wired to the glock grip angle. Make your decisions accordingly.
There are lots of supporting products, particularly hosters -- Galco and Blackhawke Serpa OWB.

The only issue with the Glock is the lack of a safety that is independent of the trigger and the safety trigger on the Glock is not hard to depress in high stress situations so a negligent discharge is more possible. However, with the lack of a safety that has to be intentionally activated is a benefit as well. I am not knocking the Glock as I carried a Glock 20 when I was able to. I also carried a Taurus PT140 Millennium. The choice is ultimately yours. The best advice that anyone can give is to get the pistol that you are most comfortable with and train, train and train. When you get done with that training train some more. Get as proficient with it as possible because your life is not the only life depending on your competency with the weapon. Those in the area should you need to use it are as well. Be smart and be safe. Sorry for the lecture. 🙀

I know this is very late... but the P320 is definitely not the better shooter. I've owned multiple of both, and the P320, though way cooler, has a higher bore axis and is noticeably more snappy than the 19. Plus, the 19 is a legend in it's own right.
As someone who owned everything BUT a Glock in the polymer striker fired arena, once I bought my first they have been my preferred pistol. There are better 10mm and 45 options (different platforms with generally smaller mag capacity) but the Glocks just don't quit. They are the king of 9's though.

One addendum.. when I'm carrying the absolutely smallest option with largest mag possible, I carry the Sig P365. It is a true gym shorts and swimming trunks gun. There are similar guns now like the hellcat or whatever, but the P365 is also not half bad looking.

A true high capacity sub compact, unlike many firearms in the past, including Glock (G26/27), who chopped off half an inch of barrel and labeled it "sub compact".

I think Walther and HK beat Glock, but have all three because each have their virtues.
