I will keep one or 2, eventually, just looking for the perfect one for me I think that's what Leonardo DiCaprio keeps telling himself with his model girlfriends.

Any thread I start devolves into this. It's reached a rather hilarious junction. I am especially amused that edelweissing is a verb. Post that video about the Erikson sword, Dave. I actually want to hear Skall confess to doing that. Here you go, I tried to time stamp it but if that didn't work he begins talking avout it at 6:20 in the video.

15 minutes of Skall being disappointed. Oh joy. I did ask for it.

I think that's what I keep telling myself. *FIND THE PERFECT ONE.* Reality says, there is no *perfect one*. You get close enough and call it good. Same with spouses---First one was great, second one---not so great---third one---a keeper. Number four? Ain't happening.

15 minutes of Skall being disappointed. Oh joy. I did ask for it. Yep... some of those were legitimate complaints but the Windlass made no sense. It was like he was soooo offended by the guard error that just ruined the sword for him.... I mean yea I'm sure the sword isnt all that great, as technically its one of those "Marto made functional" swords Windlass has been releasing now and then after their Marto partnership. But still, do the damned review! Good or bad the point of them sending you the sword was to review it. Not snob it because it "insults" your self-implored "Viking ancestry".

OK, HOLD THE PHONE
HOLD THE FREAKING PHONE!
I just watched Skall's video and it was painful. HOWEVER, he claims that when he opened the box he knew something was not right about the sword. He had to do research to learn what was wrong with it. He did not know where the sword was found. He did not know that the scabbard throat had fused onto the upper guard. He even explains that archaeologists did not know this initially.
So how can he, in good conscience, hold Windlass's boots to the fire for their stupidity, for their arrogance, for insulting his alleged Viking ancestors, whilst also being equally as ignorant?!
Shouldn't he know this already? Shouldn't he be able to identify a major historical find that is clearly within his purview as a collector AND a Scandinavian?
What a crock of excrement!

Be with a woman who makes you laugh, a woman who gives you her time, a woman who takes care of you, a woman who really loves you. And make damn sure these four women don’t meet each other.

Someone ought to put him over their knee and spank him. Well he did say the sword was too heavy and the stitching hurt his hands... Regardless!

I was reading Thomasthesecond’s scalemail project thread when someone posted that it would give almost no protection in SCA’s bashing combat which made me think of my brigandine, the video is below and was questioning whether I should ad it to his thread. And low and behold another one of Skall’s videos appeared reviewing the same coat in which he gives a bad mouth with knowing entirely what he is talking about. Since Skall is taking heat at present I thought that I’d turn up the heat a little. The video was grouped with mine, just click the link to his it comes up after my video. I watched it a few years back and that was enough but going by memory; He complained about it being hard to fasten the strap, there are 3 on each side. All the dummy had to do was to turn the coat around so the straps pull to the front compare with my video. I think he said something about it being hard to get the straps through the buckles. I leave mine threaded and open to the max. I slip it over my head and then pull the strap ends forward until sufficiently tight. Not a difficult task. He didn’t like the fact there was a space between the plates. The space is small but I’ll admit it’s possible, not likely, but possible to get a point between two plates. No piece of armour has ever been made that didn’t have a vulnerable spot. A decent gambeson would stop what little point made it through, if any. And then there is mail which could be worn underneath also. As far as not being authentic go to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brigandine and scroll down to Indian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese armour, not much difference. There’s more to his video but I declare I didn’t feel like watching again. The coat is great at stopping felt impacts as the plates pick up the distribute the energy over a wide area.

So much whacking in that video. Does that count as elder abuse?

I hadn’t thought of that. Recon I could sue? That would allow me to buy a new sword.

Looks like we found a good cure for cynizism: sempriniing about someone else! Light the torches, pass the pitchforks!

Somehow I trust the man letting a woman beat him with a stick more than the man whacking himself.
I doubt someone will look at the armor and know that there's a hole in the chest. In addition to that, it takes one small unconscious movement to make it a non issue.
Looks great for armor against what one would think would be a more common weapon like a machete or even a knife in terms of deterrent in that case.
