I'm thinking of using some grip band to make a few of my swordgrips thicker and more comfy or for axe handles. . My first thought was tennis grip band, jusr because I like the overlapping wrap of my Zombie Tools swords. There are also bicycle grip bands and Pgandy gave me the idea of silicone rescue band. I will order it here in Germany, I don't know if special US brands are available. I just saw this post. It wasn’t clear to me whether you ordered the rescue tape or the Wilson tennis tape as someone suggested. Which? If it was the rescue tape it is the best patch I’ve found for water leaks such as pipes, joints, hose, etc., the job that it was originally intended for. It has stopped leaks where nothing else has worked. For my swords I spray the tape with matte black paint to take the shine and the plastic look off.

The spadroon thread made me took out my CS Navy Officer's Sword and Marines NCO Saber. I always considered the NCO's grip not to be bad but after a wrap and upholstering the middle area the whole saber is so much better to handle, holy golly! I like the look of the brass wired grips on those blingbling swords but sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do. The Navy sword grip is ok, no need for a wrap. I'm really stunned how many swords of mine have an improved handling with a thicker better grip. I'm a xxl guy with xl hands because I don't do hard work but I never thought how many sword grips are indeed to small for my hands.

Wrapomania: Those look great with the grip wrap. Makes me wish I had a tactical katana and wakizashi just so I can wrap it 😂

Try it on Miss Flexy or the Frankentana! It's easy to remove, no glue except on the very end.

I’ve done that to several of my swords and it makes a world of difference. Here’s one the Windlass M1860 OM. Without the tape I’d probably never use the sword as Windlass’ stock grip is miserable.

My River Witham Seax before and after. The idea of thrusting with it with this small guard and thin wooden grip always made me shiver. But with the wrap I see a chance not to lose my fingers.

Next I upholstered and wrapped my Windlass Musketeer Main Gauche. The original grip is very nice looking but impractical. First I applied furniture sliders on both sides of the grip one over two on each side. Then I wrapped it. It was hard to wrap the strongly swelling grip without gaps in the wrap and the wrap doesn't look very clean. The Wilson band isn't sticky on the underside, only hold by friction. Usually the look gets better after some handling with hand pressure on the grip. But it works, it's much better to grip and to handle now. The thicker part under the crossguard is also a good thumb rest.
