A company rep contacted me recently asking if we can get a SBG reviewer to do some test cutting with the new United Cutlery Honshu Broadsword and put it through its paces to see how it holds up.
Here is the sword in question:
There isn't much info in the description, and of course as it is a modern 'tactical' take on a European Sword, the review should simply be about how well its put together, how it handles, weight, point of balance, etc - any nitpicks - and then some test cutting, after which the reviewer may keep it, sell it or do as they please with it.
If you are interested, or can think of a reviewer who would be best suited to the task at hand, please say so in this thread.
Thanks all!
- Paul

I would love to! I've handled several of these honshu tactical swords from various sellers and have been extremely impressed.
I've been extremely interested in this one since first hearing about it, and swords of this style being my favorite I would love to test it out and review it.
I can do high quality pictures, breakdown and a written review as well as video review, including cutting tests on tatami, bottles, rope or wood to test the edge and durability of the sword.

I'd take the job, I'd even post a video review as well as my usual cutting video. I could even compare it to say my Homildon Hill for extra perspective on comparison testing.

Oh man, I'd love to take it for a tour of the backyard cutting facilities, but I doubt it's worthwhile to ship this all the way to Finland when there are so many willing and able testers so much closer.

I would recommend Aikidoka to review/test the sword. He has a proven record of being unbiased, and is a hell of a cutter.

I'm gonna be keeping a close eye on this. My interest was caught when I first saw this sword, and now doubly so. A free sword for someone to put through the meat grinder...great idea. I'm ready to see this thing put through some torture and see what it's got going on.
I'd be willing to do the review, but my photo/video knowledge is for crap and my cutting skills are only so-so. Meh.... ........

Nice, I am not best person to do so. But I admire the company for recognizing that proper reviews are good advertising.
Will check the review if it ever comes out.

The two "mekugi" screws/bolts in the grip. I have the same on my Boshin Katana. I could screw them off with a special nut but the grip is glued on. Those screws/bolts are made of a very soft metal, after two or three times of screwing the nut holes are unusable.

Well, the manufacturer put "rugged tactical engineering" in the description, so I hope they're ready for rugged tactical field testing. And a tang exposure.

I would love to I am not the best at cutting but I have looked at this for awhile and think it is pretty cool. I am not the best choice for this but I figured I would add to the thread

I would love to have a crack at that, but shipping to Aus may well put me out of the lineup. Look forward to the review though.
