I'd say light-medium cutting would be the average range of swords on the market. More specialized geometries like Hira-zukuri and XL types for softer targets and trick cutting. Heavy niku blades for hard targets. i am assuming the heavy niku was for people? As long as I can cut the same targets im fine lol. It sounds like an added niku can be nice

This place doesn't have fights. It's very tame compared to other sites I am a member of.
Some members can be just plain d**ks,but the knowledge some of those members have is priceless.I open this site every day and read as much as I can, because of the knowledge. There are posters that, through their terseness and condescending writing styles,I just dislike but I know that they know what they are talking about so I pay attention to what they have to say. But,I would not call them a d**k. There is no need for that, what I think or feel about someone has no need to be aired here.
In life people interact with others that they dislike every day,but there is no need to be a d**k and tell the d**ks that they are a d**k. If information that someone is sharing is wrong, then I have no problem with that person being corrected, and will do the correcting myself if I know the other is wrong. If I am wrong, and am corrected then I will admit my mistake and thank the person for the correction. As long as they are not being a d**k.If they are, then I will let them know I think they are being a d**k,without actually calling them a d**k.
Relax OP. You have been told you are welcome, and IMO you are not being a d**k.
But,if you do be a d**k,remember that there are d**ks out there that will be a d**k right back at you.

Well you are on a forum dedicated to weapons. Things that were generally designed to harm other human beings.
Perhaps people who favor collecting and using such things might just be a tad on the aggressive side. Hence the avatars of members in armor or holding weapons
When I was 16 I thought my Father didn't know anything about anything , I was amazed at how much smarter he became as I got older.

There are some grumpy old men here. They know quite a lot about swords, but if they scare away all the young newcomers, nobody will be here to buy the old mens' collections from their widows in the classifieds when the old men die of rage-induced head explosions.

Oh my father has plenty of wisdom, I can aknowledge that at 16 and have since I was younger. My point was being older does not mean you are always right or your opinion is always right. I find it comical that there are 60 yr old men in armor tbh.

Lol there seem to be alot of grumps. As for scaring, they are old and I don't find them intimidating at all lol. But others might find it annoying and leave. Ya that seems to be the fact they all forget about is that you only live so long.

Don't drop your childhood dreams and fantasies just because you're older, use your age, wisdom and newfound riches to live them.

I've been noticing a lot of negativity in the forums lately? I remember back in the old days it used to be fun that everyone was buying different and unheard of stuff, I've bought lots of "not so good" swords over the years but part of it was the fun of trying something new. And people weren't crucified back then from liking a bad sword either. Now I feel that if someone has an opinion that differs people try to hammer in that common opinion...
I mean wasn't it fun in the old days to find underpriced good swords? The famous "Bamboo" etc. Now I feel that we try to steer everyone into liking of same swords. Yes those swords are well made and offer at least decent return for the money but have we lost all fun in experiencing new stuff?
I've been bit sad in reading how roughly few new purchases etc. have been received by the forum. If someone is genuinely happy with his new purchase, is it really that constructive to put him down? Not every purchase is the best one you'll ever make and you'll learn from mistakes. It might take years to realize some things you could have done differently and what you could have chosen differently.

One important thing, that hasnt been mentioned yet - at least not in this thread: Swords Of Northshire is not a forge. Ryan Sword is not a forge/has no forge. Neither swordmaker688, 201liche, truekatana, and on and on and on are forges. Theyre just resellers. I am possibly one of the biggest defenders of money-for-value china swords in this place, but as others said: there are things to learn. And one of the hardest things to learn is: aaall that stuff on ebay comes from one, maybe two or three factories. Thats the truth. Dothraki speaking: "it is known". Exceptions are (most probably) Huawei and Huanuo Forge. Does this make the other "sources" worse? Not at all, IMHO. I like Ryansword for example for they never delivered any crap to me. But i am buying from them for, well, 4 or 5 years i guess... do i know what happened before? Nope. And i will defend them. Because i have four swords from them right now, and owned much more before. But others seem to have received pretty garbage from them. So personal experiences will make up an opinion of course. But you really cant tell from ONE buy. And you have to be careful and keen eyed when buying china stuff... not necessarily by means of quality - but PRICES! You may see the same sword from three different sellers, getting three different prices... with the highest one being triple as high as the lowest one!

Here's the thing: that's an exceedingly poorly thought out article, clearly written just for a quick and dirty piece of clickbait. It starts by listing a number of counterproductive behavior patterns, then attributes them to "stupid" people, yet never actually defines "stupid" or "smart" except implicitly and after-the-fact as "this" and "not this", respectively. The logic is entirely circular. It's bad journalism, and it's bad science - hell, it's even BAD POP SCIENCE JOURNALISM! Bruce Banner smaaaaash! In reality, smart people do stupid things all the time. PS. It is a good check list for "Things Not To Do in Any Situation", of course!
