I think there was issue taken with the fact you reposted information as your own and didnt credit the original posters until someone prompted you to Is it really that big of a deal? I fixed it up and reposted it while crediting the author. At the end of they day they can search the image and find it if they care that much

I see no fights, some disagreements some stronger than others. The problem is you’re the FNG, inexperienced even by your admissions, yet take the attitude that your untried opinions are correct. Others point out your errors, not to be confused with fighting or bullying. Best to set back and use the forum as a learning experience for the moment. Your questions and opinions are welcomed but state them for what they are, not fact. New blood is welcome and we are glad to have you but don’t come on so strong. We are all learning, a prime reason for the forum, some have travelled down the road farther than others. Take it easy and don’t get ahead of yourself. The expression in my country is “un poco un poco”. You will find that the people on this forum, like everyone everywhere with their passions, are opinionated, perhaps some a bit too strongly in some areas. But no one is trying to fight with you. I forgot to mention that there seems to be plagiarism involved. I missed that post and have to interest in hunting it down. No opinion can truely be right or wrong can they? I may like a sword forge while you may not. That is why it is called an opinion.

No one is “picking a fight with you”. Some of the responses to your posts have been a little “aggressive”, but nothing bordering “picking a fight”. The reason for the perceived “aggressiveness” by some is that you have inserted your personal opinions on matters that you yourself have said you don’t know much about. This forum is made out of anyone between “newbies” and super experienced members. We as forum members need to remember that and temper ourselves in our responses, but as experienced members, we also need to let people know when “bad” or improper information is made by someone (who’s mentioned they’re not experienced) is made. To leave that improper information stand would be a disservice to all members on this forum. Lol like I always say its my opinion

Humans. That's how they act. Put two humans in a room together, and within an hour they will be fighting over which half of the room is "theirs". Put one human in a room by themselves and within a day he will be fighting himself. We also don't like being wrong about things. I've spent many decades learning the hard way that I'm actually not always right about everything. Often, criticism towards me is less than "diplomatic", but if it's valid, the I have to accept the content of the criticism and let the method by which it was delivered be ignored. I believe that pointing out the importance of using citations and avoiding plagiarism could have been done better, and owing to your age I would assume you don't know these things yet. Learn the lesson and move on. And we certainly don't have an obligation to respond to rudeness in kind. It is possible to simply thank somebody for their input, then ignore them. Nothing is gained by becoming part of the problem, and you lose nothing of yourself by avoiding the conflict. It's life, dude. It's how it is. People are like that. It's human behavior. You can't control other people's actions, only your own. So focus on improving yourself and controlling that which is in your power to change. Everything else is just white noise. True I appreciate that.

I'll turn 53 in November and have been collecting blades for over half my life, learning all I can, and imparting all the knowledge I'm able to...and some days I still feel like a 'newb'. The occasional disagreement is part of being human, but to out-n-out pick a fight with someone on a website is just a waste of everyone's time. Especially a website like SBG, where we need to all learn and grow together and enjoy our 'passionate hobby'. MY WORDS---passionate hobby, because that's what it is. A hobby that we share with each other, and that we feel passionately about. Some people take that passion way too seriously at times though, and will go to absurd lengths to prove their point...even when nobody else even cares. That's a big part of the reason I seldom ever post over on myArmoury any more. I have better things to do. Agreed

As a 21 year old myself I take some umbrage with that mentality. There are far better reasons to disagree with someone than just pointing to their age. It's no better than if I were to say "this is just some old guy, don't listen to him". This guy has every right to weigh in even if you disagree with him and I don't think telling him to "sit back" is constructive. Expertise is typically defined as a learning function given temporal modifiers. There's a difference between being talented, a savant and being an expert. Experts develop a sophisticated cognitive architecture following years, and years of practice. Even at the age of 21, you're going to be much more skilled and talented at age 24 if you maintain or improve practice regimens (barring other intruding variables). It's not so much ageism as stating that given time you can develop knowledge and talents to an even keener edge.
The mind is a like taking a sword across whetstone: the longer you take it across, the more keen it becomes.
until the blade eventually is ground down to nothing.

No opinion can truely be right or wrong can they? That is a misconception i see way too often, people who think they can remove any accountability by saying "it's just my opinion"
Opinions can be directly wrong, it depends entirely on what the opinion is about. I could have an opinion that sabers are horrible cutting swords, that is an example of a misinformed opinion, and people are right to tell me so.
I could have the opinion blue is a nicer color than red, that is an opinion where people can tell me they disagree, but they can't tell me I'm wrong.
That said, don't take things too personally online, don't let grumpy angry people upset or bother you, sometimes people bicker a bit, everyone have been on both sides of this behavior at some point in time, best not to make too much of a deal of it and move on.
Just chill and enjoy the hobby, keep learning and have fun.

They have the right to tell you that they disagree and tell you why. You have the right to defend your opinion. While some of these individuals probably could have been more diplomatic, if that's the only concern here I think it's getting a bit overblown. Not everyone is at their most politest all the time, especially not on the internet.

I actually went and read the topic, if it's the one where you recommended some sword makers, they were right to point out that your recommendation was bad and uninformed, and nothing like what the guy asked about.
You got argumentative when you should have just sucked it up and said "yeah, sorry, should have done research"
If I came asking for high end european swords and someone told me to get windlass I'd be slamming my head into the desk as well.
In this case you got sassy and on their case about it, bad decision by you and you got burned by it, take it and move on, and everyone else will do the same.

I agree. I personally have a pretty low opinion of katanas. That doesn't mean katanas are objectively bad swords. The OP has a high opinion of Swords of Northshire. That does not make Northshire swords objectively good.

The "I can do what I want, its my opinion so don't call me out on it" attitude won't get you far anywhere, sorry to say. You seem to try to find reasons for people to not call you out on things and make yourself unable to be faulted, that's not how things work.
Now I can, without mentioning names say there are a few grumpy forum members here I'd just ignore if I were you, they're always angry and will always say mean things, don't let it get to you. But your attitude has been very "I do what I want stop telling me what I do wrong" and that will get you on peoples bad side quickly.
when someone asks for a katana reccomendations I don't barge into the topic saying "HEY MAN BUY AN ALBION INSTEAD LONGSWORDS ARE BETTER JUST MY OPINION LOL"
..I COULD do that, under the excuse "I do what I want"..But you see the "I do what I want" thing is true enough, but it will get you exactly the reaction you got, people getting on your case and not being very nice about it, if you don't care and do what you want why should they be do differently, it will not make you friends and it will make anywhere a hostile environment for you.
Be constructive when people ask for things, be nice and polite, if you're corrected don't get immediately defensive and try to take it into consideration, don't stress and don't let things get to you too much.
You don't seem like a bad guy, just a bit on edge, chill out.

Alrighty. We can and absolutely should debate and learn from each other, but not be jerks to each other or get angry when people disagree. The hobby is just that: a hobby. It should always be fun or at least informative.

Ya I agree some opinions can be wrong. But I dont feel like reccomending a valid forge is bad. Regardless of prices.
